Beginner Alchemy Guide

Family Name: Blaqklight

Last Edited: 3/3/2021

Hello Adventures! Ambassador Blaqklight here with a quick intro into the crazy world of Alchemy. In this guide, I will cover how to get to Artisan 1 Alchemy with minimal silver investment. I’ll go over what buffs you’ll need, what house to get, what clothes to wear, and what materials to gather. Please note that while spending any real-life money is not a requirement, it will help you level faster and make more money in the long run. Additionally, alchemy requires more silvers than cooking, more time, and at higher levels, becomes gated by hard to acquire materials. Armed with this knowledge, let’s dive right in!

Alchemy: Just starting out!

Mandatory Requirements:

  1. You’re going to want to make a Shai…
    • As with every other life skill guide out there, I will suggest that you create a Shai to start this process. Shai starts with a base alchemy level of Professional 1, which will save you both time and money.
    • Additionally, with higher level recipes, you will need to gather some materials. Shai also starts with a gathering level of Professional 1.
    • Shai also gets a passive Weight (LT) bonus for leveling, which means you can AFK alchemy for longer, carry more imperial boxes, and gather more mats in one sitting.
  2. You don’t want to be naked?
    • Notice earlier I said you’d need to spend some silvers? This is where it begins. You’re going to want to purchase a Silver Embroidered Alchemist’s Clothes at +3.
    • Why +3 you ask? Well, it’s only 130m silvers and it grants Alchemy Time -4 seconds and EXP +20%, both of which are INSANE boosts. We can’t be standing around forever.
  3. House? House.
    • What are the top three most important qualifications when purchasing any house? Location, location, and location.
    • Most of your money at the higher tiers is going to come from Imperial Deliveries (ID), which involves some riveting content of packing elixirs into boxes. It takes forever, the boxes are heavy, and the further your house is away from the Imperial Trade Manager, the longer it will take to do your deliveries. This cuts into your silver/hour, which isn’t that great until Guru anyway. So you’ll want to pick a good spot for your alchemy empire.
    • TL;DR: Snag a house in one of these six spots next to the ID NPCs (Credit to Nibbix for typing these out originally):
      • Olvia: Lotz Pavarotti (Near 6-3)
        Heidel: Pasvinder (Near Heidel 1-1)
Calpheon: Bech (North, North Gate 4, 1F)
        Grana: Mizella (Near Grana 1)
Altinova: Liff (South, near 1-1, 1F)
        Duvencrune: Drexin (Near Duvencrune 8)
      • Personally, I’d recommend doing Heidel 1-1 since it is less than 30 steps between your front door and Pasvinder. This is where my house is.
  4. Storage!
    • Talk to the storage keeper in any town to rent a container for 10 contribution points. Once you place it down in your house, this will allow you easy access to your storage, thus cutting down on time running to the warehouse and back. You’re also not Santa, so you can only fit so many mats in your sack.
  5. Eat food, drink draughts, and pop alchemy stones!
    • Let’s face it, alchemy takes a while, and we don’t like to waste time. We are looking to get our time down to around 1s per proc, which can be done with your clothing (-4 seconds) and these buffs below!
      • Life Spirit Stone: Get it by grinding in Kamasylvia or buying from the MP. At the time of writing this its around 810,000 silvers and there are 10k on the MP.
      • Seafood Cron Meal: 1 silver from the Oasis vendor right now. Stock up.
      • Verdure Draught: 345,000 silvers a pop, buy them from the MP.
    • Looking for more exp/buffs? These are not required by any means but can help a TON:
      • Perfume of Swiftness: 10mil silvers from the MP but offers weight +200 and life skill exp +20% for 20 minutes.
      • Life Skill Mastery Increase Scroll: 800 Loyalties from the new loyalty shop. Another +20% increase to life skill exp for an hour.
      • Extra Life EXP Scroll: 500 pearls for 11 scrolls on the pearl shop, under the function tab. Total life skill exp +50% for an hour.
    • Advanced Alchemy Utensils you say?!
      • To start we’re going to need a few of these. At the time of writing this, there are 40 pre-orders on the MP. If you cannot get these, you can buy base alchemy tools from General Goods vendors located in the various towns.
      • If you do find some advanced ones, only buy 10 or less. We’re going to move on to Supreme Utensils at some point later.

Optional QoL Stuffs:

  1. Pavilla Clothes!
    • Found on the Pearl Shop for 2,200 pearls, these clothes offer a buff to alchemy. The 2-piece set effect is another 15% alchemy exp and another -2s of alchemy time for procs. If you’ve got money to burn, this is a fantastic idea.
  2. Loggia, Geranoa, or Manos gear!
    • I don’t know how many silvers you all have to put into life skilling, but if you’re in it for the long haul and want to go big, snag some manos accessories to boost your mastery and get some additional exp. Mastery will come in handy later for ID and will also help you get better additional procs when mixing your recipes. Every 50 mastery takes you to a higher tier of the respective life skill.

Is it Alchemy time yet?!

It is! We’ve popped our buffs, our storage box is down, and our tools are installed. Whats next?

We are going to be making a ton of Elixirs of Demihuman Hunt (EDH)! Why? Well, its cost effective, the materials are easy to get from multiple sources, and it offers good exp for leveling! You’re welcome to go for any other elixir at the skilled level, but I’ll only be covering EDH for this guide. Other recipes can be looked up here

Materials:

For one EDH, we will need four ingredients:

  1. Sinner’s Blood (1)
  2. Black Stone Powder (3)
  3. Fir Sap (4)
  4. Arrow Mushroom (4)

Three of these four are quite easy to obtain.

  • Arrow mushrooms can be purchased on the MP for 399 silvers a pop or can be grown in a farm using the hypha. Since they are so cheap, I opted to purchase mine.
  • Fir Sap can be purchased from the MP for 2,040 silvers a pop, can be harvested by workers on several lumbering nodes, or can be gathered by using a fluid collector on Fir trees. Since they’re cheap and there are so many listed, I also purchased these.
  • Black Stone Powder can be purchased on the MP for 3,140 silvers a pop. I’d recommend buying this as well.
  • NOTE: Our goal is to make 10,000 EDH, so please make sure you purchase the above ingredients in the proper quantities.

Sinner’s Blood Pt. 1:

Now, the Sinner’s Blood is the complicated ingredient. Its known as a compound recipe and will require several ingredients to craft. It is made up of:

  1. Bloody Tree Knot (1)
  2. Powder of Flame (1)
  3. Clear Liquid Reagent (CLR) (1)
  4. Farm Blood (2)

Diving further into this, both the Powder of Flame and the Bloody Tree Knots can be purchased off the MP for minimal costs or can be gathered by workers at several nodes across the map. The CLR and Farm Blood are a little more difficult to get.

Farm Blood:

Farm Blood can be gathered by using a fluid collector on either Deer, Ox, Pigs, Sheep, Waragons, Goats, or Llamas. To this end, I’d recommend killing and sucking the blood from the sheep at Lynch Ranch just west of Heidel or traveling just south of Behr to kill deer. Either is viable, both are quite popular.

Clear Liquid Reagent:

CLR is another compound ingredient that we will need to make ourselves. We could buy it off the MP, but its quite cheap to make and will give us some good exp, so we don’t want to overlook this. We’re trying to make around 10,000 CLR, so we’ll need 4,000 of each of the materials below. When doing alchemy, you will always have a chance to synthesize 2.5x the base material amount, on average. Thus, if we have the ingredients to make 4,000, we should end up with right around 10,000.

CLR is made up of 4 ingredients:

  • Salt (1)
  • Sunrise Herb (1)
  • Grass (1)
  • Purified Water (1)

Now, the salt can be purchased from any Cooking NPC in any major city for 20 silvers. Sunrise Herb can be purchased from the MP or can be gathered using a Hoe. For the grass, you can purchase Wild Grass off the MP. Don’t waste your time gathering it.

To make Purified Water, you’ll want to purchase Empty Bottles from the Material Vendors in any major city and fill them in a river. At this point I’d recommend grabbing a Wind processing stone since you’ll be taking large quantities of the bottled water and, through filtering, turning them into Purified Water. This usually happens one at a time, but with the Processing stone, it’ll do it much faster.

Once you have all 4 ingredients, head over to your house and start making the recipe. For the first one, you’ll want to put in the exact amount of each ingredient. For CLR, that would be one of each. After that, you can “batch process” until you are out of materials.

Sinner’s Blood Pt. 2:

Once we have all of the CLR we need, we’ll need to make the Sinner’s Blood. This means we’ll need:

  • 10,000 CLR (or more, depending on procs)
  • 10,000 Bloody Tree Knots
  • 10,000 Powder of Flame
  • And 20,000 Farm Blood

Again, once we have all 4 ingredients ready to go, we’re going to put in the exact amount of each ingredient for the first synthesis. For Sinner’s Blood, that would be one of each, except for Farm Blood, of which we will need 2. After that, you can “batch process” until you’re out of materials.

NOTE: If for some reason you did not make a Shai and have chosen to make another character, you will need to be Skilled 1 to make EDH. If you're not there yet, synthesize additional Sinner's Blood or CLR to get there.

EDH Final Steps:

We’re finally ready to make our EDH! Just to recap, we’ll need a total of:

  • 10,000 CLR
  • 30,000 Black Stone Powder
  • 40,000 Fir Sap
  • And 40,000 Arrow Mushrooms

Now, I know this sounds incredibly expensive and time consuming, but it’ll be worth it.

Once you have all 4 ingredients, head back over to your house and start making the recipe. Again, you’ll want to put in the exact amount of each ingredient. So, for EDH, that would be one CLR, three BSP, four Fir Sap, and 4 Arrow Mushrooms. After that first one, you can “batch process” until you are out of materials.

For me personally, with full TET Loggia Accessories, a +3 Silver Clothing, the Pavilla Costume, an alchemy stone and every single buff listed above, I was able to hit Artisan 1 with 10,000 EDH. This number will most likely be different for you, so you might need to make more than 10,000.

By the end of the whole process, you’ll have a ton of EDH and hopefully, quite a few Mysterious Catalysts. These are byproducts that are acquired when doing alchemy and are excellent for boosting both Contribution Points and Alchemy EXP. They are traded to Bofin of Olvia.

When do we make some actual MONEY?!

Well, right now, actually. You’ll be quite glad that we picked a house close to the ID NPC, so head over to them right now with some EDH in your inventory.

Medicine Boxes:

When making elixirs, keep in mind  that the eventual end goal isn’t to sell them on the MP, its to trade them in, in the form of Medicine Boxes. Generally, only Guru boxes are worth doing (Artisan and Master can be as well, depending on your mastery level), but we’re going to turn these in anyway.

Go ahead, with the elixirs in your inventory, and open the processing tab (L). Navigate over to the tab that says Imperial Alchemy and throw your elixirs in there. Every 18 EDH will convert into one Professional Medicine Box. Keep turning in until you’ve completed your daily limit. You’re gated to only be able to turn in 50% of your contribution points per day (I’ve got 326, so I can do 163 every day). This refreshes every day at Imperial Reset, which is the same time as daily server reset.

You’ll get more money the higher your mastery level, so this is where Loggia/Geranoa/Manos accessories and clothes come in handy. I’ve got around 1200 mastery, so I get an additional 21.78% profit per box that I turn in. The mastery calculator can be found here

Imperial Alchemy Seals

Every time you turn in boxes, you’ll get these seals. For every 100 you get, I HIGHLY recommend exchanging them for the Supreme Alchemy Tools. This will make your life infinitely easier and will increase the time you can AFK synthesize.

I hope this guide was helpful! I had a lot of fun making it and please do not hesitate to message me here or in-game for any questions or suggestions you might have.

Happy Adventuring!
