I am not quite sure exactly why it is, that some people think that all there is to life, is sitting infront of a computer screen all day long. Unfortunately it seems that despite repeated attempts, to explain and make it clear how I view gaming, and also "how it was meant to be", no one has taken it as I presented it.

RP_Sanctuary started as a project, to attract proper oldschool Roleplayers, but it is extrememly difficult to have a guild solely based on RP-players. So to make things absolutely clear: RP_Sanctuary is a Social Guild first and foremost, Putting Real-Life First Always, allowing Everyone to play when they want to.
That there is pretty much the MOST important bit :)

Then there's the usual stuff, which seems quite obvious.
Basic Guild Rules:
1. Anyone who'd like to have some company while actively online.

2. Anyone who can follow the Pearl Abyss BDO server rules.
3. Anyone who can let others enjoy the game how they like.

This is a rally call, to all players who have gone for too long, without being able to fully enjoy, the many wonders that this game could offer. Also -as far as I know- the Only Guild on BDO EU, that in its name offers a friendly environment for Roleplaying gamers.

Rest easy, this is for casualish players, and especially for those, who want to have the possibility, to Roleplay in good company, that will most likely respond in kind, or at least respect that they want to.

When I say Roleplaying, I do NOT mean ERP (erotic roleplaying), which is something completely different. I mean to use the vast and quite well crafted game-world, and the characters in it, to introduce an extra layer of entertainment, that is considered Roleplaying.

If you have seen the funny TV-animation "Vox Machina", then you would have an idea, of what used to happen around a table, back in the days ( around the 1980's) when oldschool Roleplaying was a thing.

Acquaintances, friends and schoolmates would gather around a table, armed with pencils, erasers, sheets of paper, and lots of dice. Share in an imaginary world, where they would act as their characters, and the Game Master (Dungeon Master) would then challenge the players, both intellectually and emotionally, leading the band of adventurers through their chosen Roleplaying game-world/system.

So my take on Roleplaying, would be to "act" as if, my characters are real living beings, with their individual personalities, and then use whatever is happening in the game-world, to "act-out" whatever comes to mind, as the character you are playing in that moment. All of this happens on the General Chat (/s), and is considered what the Characters are actually saying, or emoting. However, it is only when everyone has agreed to meet up and do some Roleplaying, since it is NOT enforced, nor required, in our social guild.

So are there any players out there, on the EU server, that wish to be a part of this experiment? Bringing back Oldschool Roleplaying, in a nowadays computer game?

Otherwise the guild welcomes newcomers to the game, players who haven't played ever before, or just tried a little bit before. We are afterall a Social Guild, which means that we want to have some company while online. Best way to do that, is to always respond to Guild messages, while actively online, anything less is considered rude in a Social guild.

I myself RP from time to time, however I have no intention of leaving my own guild right now. Btw. I sincerely hope we can still RP. :)

We are now recruiting again...it is still a very small guild, but we have high hopes, that somewhere there are players tired of their current guild, where Roleplaying is not really an option. So let us know, either through this forum post, or try to find us online, although it is quite difficult the latter, trying to syncronize playing a game at the same time, and actually wanting to play at that time too.

Oh cool, I was just wondering if I may want to join any guild after all but then thought "nah, I enjoy my freedom to be as filthy a casual as I like to be". But this sort of experiment I wanna support since I do enjoy playing and GM´ing Pen&Paper IRL (The Dark Eye 4th Ed. [German system], DnD 5th ed., sometimes other stuff). Also used to run my own experimental RP guild in BnS (for reference https://forums.bladeandsoul.com/topic/246565-rproleplay-only-tbl-seeking-members~/). We used to oldschool RP via ingame chat option, just as you intend it here it seems.

I am pretty much only lifeskilling if I do anything at all and not really into Discord but can be if needbe. I am already saying that I will not be very active (yea those are the best members...) but could join for scheduled events in the evenings.

I guess it would make sense to set up a hub or base area of sorts, do you have anything in mind already?

Used to play pretty much any and all types of old-school RP games. However what really kicked things off, was the MiddleEarth Roleplaying...think it was first edition...an offshoot or the prequal to Rolemaster. Loved all those rules and tables :D

I was a GM for about 10 years on and off, with many different groups, as well as letting some of the groupmembers start their own GM'ing, for us to try out other systems and ways to game.

Anyhoo...I am welcoming of anyone, no matter how active or inactive they are, as there is an in-game offline messaging system now :)

Just be prepared for a low player population for a while, since this is apparently not the best idea for a guild with lots of players in it :(

The Guild leader's Family name is Bloodhawks, and I am online here and there, pretty much as randomly as I feel like playing. Although I do have periods and times of day, where it is more likely to find me. I suggest that you try using the friend me option in-game. Then we can write each other offline in-game messages, to figure out when we'll be on at the same time, so I can invite you.

Yes, the guild is still recruiting. It is a Social Guild, with the added incentive for Roleplaying gamers, to be completely free to do RP while with the guild.

Unfortunately it seems that there are some gamers, that are  terribly limited, and cannot tolerate other people existing. These gamers are the ones who bully others, and behave generally speaking, as if they were ignorant, dumbarsed, inbred pieces of shaite.

I am trying to cut down on those people in the Guild, but it is difficult sometimes to discern between, people who are capable of letting others be, and do as they like. While others are merely pretending to be nice/kind, then using mainstream media to bully others, happily thinking that they are "So smart and cool"...poor childish people...if only they could actually learn, and become better people.

oops...I got a bit sidetracked there...oh well...The jist of it is; yeah the Guild wants more players. We are only a couple at the moment, but that is mainly because neither one of us, is a hardcore gamer...which means that the amount of time, we have during the whole day, is allocated to where it actually matters: Real Life!

Games come and go all the time, and NOTHING you do in a computer game, no matter how clever the game is, will Ever Help you out in the real world. So in fact, people playing computer games, are by definition; wasting your life-time, which is non-refundable.

People play for various reasons, I have no real issue with computer games, and I can see how it may be a good thing. However there is also a terrible downside to the "internet existence", which are -generally speaking- all the people who are screwing others over.

I don't care why anyone else plays games, I only care if that way of gaming, is affecting others in a negative or positive manner. I want more Positively affecting people in my Guild :D
