For the couple of months I was in there, that channel was cancer. After I realized/felt compelled enough to change it I never looked back

I just sit in Shai chat now, even if it is mostly dead, because silence is better than lunar halo inn was

Im a big free speech person, Im not suggesting more rules or moderation- I just think that piling all the new players into the most active channel full of toxic people murdering each other over politics might not be the best approach 😬

Completely unrelated but.. Shai effectively has 2 chat channels, class chat and troupe hall(music channel).. combining them would help make the 2 channels less dead. 

You know there's a block function right? If someone is offending you, you can simply click their name and hit block. Problem solved. 


I agree Lunar Halo Inn is not the place for new players, it's morphed into cross-server chat from its original intention. The description of Heidel Street and Lunar Halo in should be swapped if not a whole new channel created that's actually newbie friendly and not full of cliques spamming random crap completely burying any new persons questions 

tbh few ideas for me. 1 maybe introduce a quest that teaches player how to use the chat filter. This is a good way to avoid ad bot spam or words you don't want to see.

another idea is community chat ban voting system. if enough people vote in a small time frame on that message they said (not just clicking a random message they sent to click their name and hit ban) to get ban. The ban message would pop up with the chat they said as why they got banned. it will lock them out of that specific group chat based on offences first time is 1 day second time is 3 days and any other time after that is 7 days. And if they leave to troll another chat they can face another ban. After the third concurrent ban introduce the jail/Muiquun chatroom specific for these players. Where they are locked out of all the other group chat but these. They can be redeem once they fall under 3 bans running. Say if you were banned from lunar with a 7 day ban, shai group chat with a 3 day ban and battle arena for 1 day ban they only get access to jail/Muiquun chatroom. But after 1 day pass and the battle arena ban expires they can get access to the groups again. This will help contain the toxicity without outright damaging the community too much.

I will warn people perma bans are not helpful at all. They will destroy the community as I came from such game where they would permaban you for a lot of things cause you said the wrong words in private chat. PSO2 has yet to recover from the debacle and still is facing down more and more damages everyday. I do not advocate for perma bans for chatting other than advertisements.

There definitely does need to be a better reporting system in the game, rather than coming onto the site and filling out a police report. They have logs there in the game of what people said. It's just negligence on their part after all of these years for them to not have a good report system function in the game. 

Yes, I don't exactly want to disable chats. I want a tutorial on how to use chats to be added somewhere in the balenos questline. (Chats are locked already till level 7 and can't be viewed), But there should be a way to introduce players to chats, how to navigate TO chat groups, so they can pick a group to ask questions and understand "There is more then this default group, that I am somehow stuck in". And also shown server chat, whispers. world chat, etc. As well as chat quick commands. Your alt 1-9 /s /w /r etc shortcuts. As well. None of this is even mentioned at all in the game's introduction for new players, so they very well might not even know how to use chat in the first place. Sure with the new balenos rework the end of balenos may be a bit to much. But I think after defeating red nose would be ok. Char should be around level 10 by then. 3 levels after they unlocked access to chat. And the introductory questline could be a npc in velia for it. I think this would be helpful. And to reach velia from starting is about 30-40 minutes of gameplay

so someone wont be able to chat until they complete the main story up to what ? valencia?

After red nose,  so a brand new account (new player) would go through the desert tutorial, then ancient stone chamber- do the stone chamber quest, western guard camp, defeat red nose, and go to velia, and when they get to velia and NPC will introduce them to the chat groups in bdo, as well as go over how to use each and every chat, how to access them. the shortcut keys to swap chats like /s /g /w /r etc. As for SILVER spammers and those people. This ads a barricade where now they have to uselessly waste time to then spam their message- and if a report system is added, they can waste all that time only to be quickly reported for a review and banned, instead of now where they just spend maybe 2 minutes to spam messages, remake account, repeat. But even before the chat tutorial is reached. I want it so party chat, general chat, and whisper can still be used. so new players can still get help and communicate in game from the friends who introduced them and this doesn't block them off from getting any help or communicating with people. (Ofc you have to add a family name to your account to first use that fuction, and then reach level 7)

intresting okay. oh they are adding a report system also i recall seeing bots speed hacking do those speed hacksers still exist?

Although scammers/RMT seems to be most obvious to come from brand new accounts, I believe this is not the case at all.
I'm pretty sure anyone who actually uses these services, will have their accounts used by these people to spam their services along. So whenever these accounts get banned or everyone blocks them, they hardly care.

Meanwhile, new players get blocked from using the chat that is specifically designed for new players, specially around the crusual part of the game: All the way at the start.

So in short, I'm pretty sure those kind of suggestions are pretty heavily damaging on the target audience of what it is designed for, while hardly affecting any malicious users from still being able to abuse it.

have to agree with that. Spam bots (even the free 7 day ones that keep blocking chat) are easy to just grind to level 60 by leeching them there, and then do 20mins of quests. Hardly a big hurdle, but for new players who keep wondering "why cant i chat with my friend who stands right next to me", this will be a big impact in the friendlyness.

Imo, if you want to help new players, the chat functions should be explained much earlier, aka at level 7 when other UI becomes available as well. We already have some black spirit popup messages on screen that explain some things. Can probably do something similar for chat boxes / chat groups.
