When we design monster zones for Black Desert, we try to apply a unique theme to the area. Abandoned Monastery was developed with competition in mind. We wanted to add a sense of danger through the use of an event that would naturally draw players to a location, and promote instances of PvP.  
 
This is why we gave the accessory a 100% chance to drop based on contribution to taking down the boss. This incentivizes the competitive aspect of the zone, and as such, it fulfills our intended design for the area. Therefore, we have no plans to change the notification at this time.


We will continue bringing you new experiences by giving unique characteristics as we design and develop monster zones in Black Desert.

I agree with these sentiments!  When we don't know the reason for something that seems so unfair, it is important to you guys explain it, or at least address it, lest we think that issue at hand was designed according to some evil purpose, and promote toxicity rather than competition.

Problem with human nature: to have to compete for something you worked so hard for, does leave bitter feelings against those who reap rewards from another's work.  Since we now know, going in, we'll either not bother trying to get the boss, or be prepared to defend our work, as that is what we are supposed to do.

And hopefully we can all forgive each other for being human.

if u had competition in mind, make more rooms with ball drops and alow only parties that dropped at least one ball to summon the boss to participate in boss fight.

now its just a matter of seeing server message, discord messaging your people and farming the boss from (most likely pve geared/specced) people who actually spent lots of time to make the boss happen. its not competition to say the least.

 Me and my friend kill boss ALONE today around 4:30am and we didn't got any accessory, so... that 100% it's totally fake

As with many things PA, the thought was good, but the execution of it not as much.

It would have made sense and be in line with what they said if the notification was only visible in the immediate vicinity of the spot, so if you had 2-3 parties actively grinding they will all go for the boss and possibly fight over it.

What we have now is just people having a char buffed and rdy at the spot ready to steal bosses from the people actively grinding there once the global notification is seen.
So very often the ppl grinding there will end up with their boss stolen by players that have 0 interest in the spot besides said kill stealing.

If people want competition without rewards, they do Solare ( This is entire new topic)
If people want competition with rewards, they just hunt announcements and raid 2 guys who grind for an hour, huh?
I'm all into competition, but it's not like these thieves were actually spawning these bosses and just jumped over to competite for boss, they just semi-afk lifeskilling and swap to overgreared chars who's already there once 10 mins pass.

I disagree, I believe it will just be another mid-end gearscore spot that only 700+ GS players will do. Instead i think that Pearl Abyss should just increase the advertised AP to 300+ and DP to 380+. Because that is the minimal you will need to compete for that spot's boss. Also I believe that Pearl Abyss should increase the trash loot value by at least 30% to make this spot inticing for the intended players.

This mechanic promotes griefing more than it promotes PvP. There's not much to do with "competing", rather than two people attempting to defend a boss from many potential invaders who only want to grab the earing and go.

Currently, the meta is to have characters with full buffs, PvP Crystals, Addons, and evasion gear on some grab bots waiting. They then go up and grab/occupy the two people who spawned the boss while a few more go up and start killing the boss. The invaders do more damage since the evasion meme has them occupied, they get the earring and go. There is no real PvP beyond this unless people want to now grief a grind spot.

Very rarely do people have others at hand to come and defend their boss, and it's just a group of people who wait and tell each other about the announcement, gank and leave.

I think that if you want to have some competition, it should be between everyone ELSE who comes into the spot to get the ear, and the  group of people who did the majority of the work, or even summon the last orb, should get something guaranteed for being the one to summon the boss. This way you still encourage open world PvP for everyone to come to and fight on, but the people who are there don't just instantly get sniped by evasion meme PvP buffed people, and then just have them leave.

The other big problem with it being at Abandoned is that it is one of the only viable duo spots in the game. This mechanic could lend itself well to other solo spots where people have many other alternatives. As it stands now, there's basically only Turos and Abandoned for duo, and we choose to do the mechanic on this grind spot for some reason.

The last thing I will mention about Abandoned Monastery and trying to increase pvp is that the Terrain itself lends horribly to actual PvP encounters. Every fight just ends up going out of the grind spot, and ends up above because Abandoned is terrible for open world PvP. It's tight, very uneven floor, has an intense amount of mobs in the way and even has Stalactites everywhere. You're bound to get CC'd just by the environment on repeat and stuck on mobs and that makes it a cluster.
