+1 Fair enough. Sorry that voicing my opinion seems to bother you.
Nope that is just your projection because I disagree with it and have an opinion of my own on that topic that is different than yours.
My disagreeing doesn't indicate being bothered at all. Grow up.
Alright after taking a closer look at port ratt using a combination of spectating with the screenshot ctrl u tool I now completely understand the need for removing port ratt
Although I dont have any experience utilizing whatever game engine Pearl Abyss uses I do know this is unsalvagable and it makes sense why port ratt needs to go along with the mountain, no point in defending port ratt although it does look decent from a distance but up close its beyond unacceptable these screenshots were taken on the uno-1 global labs server using maximum zoom out and the battlefield of shadows ambiance using a combination of spectating by sitting, leaning moving the camera far away from the charecter then pressing ctrl u
port ratt was clearly a placeholder slapped together when margoria came out and it was clearly never intended to be the final product.
You make a good point, but a 'fixed' Ratt would be better than tearing it down. Somehow.
Not that I have much hope. Really a sad thing, with so much of the aesthetic of the BDO world disappearing in the last couple of years. I wish I had been here earlier to have more time to experience it in full.
@ WolfRocket: certainly it was set up to be a placeholder for the Land of Morning Light, so those who wroked on it could be forgiven for slapping things together and not ensuring all things to be ironed out. But there are many aspects of beauty here: the stream trickling down the mountainside for one. Sure, things are not percetly refined, but the aesthetic shows a lot of care and natural beauty, and shows something glorious and mysterious beyond those locked gates. So, as Entropoid said: why not just repair it?
Now, if Port Ratt is absolutely not in any way, shape or form a fitting gateway to this land, and it will completely stick out like a sore thumb, it would be nice of the developers to say and explain why, so that those of us who have developed strong, postivie feeling towards this place could at least peacefully resign to their vision.
Resigning to their vision has been tough for me, as nearly half their updates this past year have felt like large steps back, especially art-wise, and has made my experience playing this game painful at times.
@ Deyric: perhaps this is why I speak with percieved arrogance and presumption. I speak passionately, as that is who I am, and I speak from bitter experience and some desperation. I am not one who does not care, so I will not speak as such. I seek not to offend those who don't hold my views, and I seek not to attack them personally. I see this as a public forum, where all could, and I wish should, offer their views, so that PA can recieve as much feedback as possible. I certainly hold strongly to my views and I offer reasons as to why I feel they are legit and should be held. Anyone who disagrees can and should, and I hope that, if such views are the better course for the game and the community, that the reasons for them being so can be said, and my reasons to be refuted. Unfortunately, I do not see the fact that thousands do not care about what I care for as being a reason to stop caring. So, I respect that you do not like how I set forth my ideas and statements, and that I come across as arrogant and presumptive. I speak with passion IRL, and that is how I write. I am not perfect, and yes, I have room for growth.
Peace to you all!

I think they have a "fixed ratt" planned already this is the new map for the new town according to blackdesertfoundary we have this that resembles a port ratt ruins
and in the top right corner we have this
the port in the corner could be argued as a port ratt 2.0
this is the old map of the new continent as you can see the port is in an entirely different location
full new map for reference
as you can see the entire continent has been changed it would be impossible to keep port ratt intact.

took awhile to find it but this is what was announced in 2020's calpheon ball it was supposed to come out in 2021 but it did not
was able to find the 2020 calpheon ball where it was announced but again it was a different concept its about 1h into the stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGkMX1yaXts
when port ratt was originally made it was going to be the kingdom of haso but the kingdom of haso was scrapped and its now an entirely different area known as the land of morning light
Port ratt is a relic of a scrapped area it had no chance of staying after the kingdom of haso was scrapped
That all makes sense. And yeah, if they reduce Port Ratt to uninhabited ruins, it would be cool; we can then visit the grave of Port Ratt.

edited the above post to show the 2020 calpheon ball with more info on the previous concept which was the land of dawn and that predated land of the morning light and AFAIK even that concept came after kingdom of haso was thrown out so port ratt was destined for destruction even back in 2020
rewatched the calpheon ball 2020 it seems port ratt was included with the land of dawn but again the land of dawn was scrapped so port ratt was screwed either way.
the kingdom of haso was already scrapped before the land of dawn announcement and the land of dawn was the attempt to keep port ratt with the new revised theme but it obviously failed to meet standards so now port ratt is gone!
you also have the heidel ball 2021 where pretty much everything announced on the roadmap was thrown out a week later so players should have been expecting the potential loss of port ratt back then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1RF36Q9S20
Hey, Wolf, thanks for going through all the trouble putting those maps together and researching this. You make a very strong case why they would make their new harbor the main one. However, they could still leave Port Ratt in as a trading post, and not remove it. But since it's existance is just a charming cipher, that is what it is, a cipher. You have showing textural issues and show there was no plan for it bing permanent. And yet, considering how the graphics are slowly dying in this game anyway, a case could be made for it to remain as a small trading post.
Again, thanks for the hard work you did!
That is a huge region to just leave Port Ratt just the tiny hub it was. Especially just for nostagia of a few people.
