Unfortunately I feel quite disappointed by the manor and won't be moving from my house in Heidel 9 - 4 for a while, dispite being really excited for this content. I did see the mansion when it was added to Global Lab and was hoping it would be updated before we got the final version. I'm still really hopeful that the interior will be updated and that the concept will be worked on after the class reworks.

 

Design:

I do love the mansion's look from the outside but the inside is just too big and spacious and doesn't look right or feel like a mansion. There needs to be a second floor so the ceiling isn't insanely high and add way more rooms. Only having 3 rooms in total is very underwhelming and makes the mansion feel like a grana house but with the option to decorate the exterior. Most players prefer smaller rooms so they can have a living space/diner, kitchen, bedroom, etc. This is why most players prefer the Heidel 9 - 4 house. I would suggest giving a few different layout options to the manor that the player can choose from. This would add more diversity and the players who love the big rooms would still have that option, whilst the players who want smaller compact rooms are happy as well.

 

Lack of purpose:

My other main issue is that other than the furniture collection, the mansion lacks any real purpose or gameplay. The furniture looks great but can be very costly when you are buying several bushes/trees or collecting the items for the furniture recipes. It's just not something I can justify spending my silver on when the mansion is purely decorative and for RP. Adding some sort of reward for completing a furniture collection and adding more interesting furniture with interaction/purpose is really needed.

 

I kind of hoped there would be more customization and upgrades to the mansion. So for example, you would level up your home by doing other tasks ingame, then once you level up you can expand your mansion by adding other functions. Some ideas are: farmland to grow crops/install your farms, a horse stable where you can pay to afk train your horse or maybe access all your horses no matter where they are, access to seperate storage space, access to the central market or other NPCs, etc. Just some other QoL functions added to the mansion to make it unique. Another example: the ability to repair certain cooking utensils was added, but I kind of feel like a special collectors only cooking utensil should have been added which is the only one that can be repaired and has a unique appearance.

 

Visting other players:

I'm also quite disappointed that I can't visit other players mansions unless they are in my friends list, guild or party. Sometimes it's fun to check other peoples creations but the points system ruined the rankings on normal houses. There should be some option to visit other players mansions, with just a random list that changes each day, or so you can put in someone's name to visit them, etc. I've seen a few really cool creations already, such as throne rooms and concert halls for shais to play music, so it would be cool to get to visit these ingame or see something like an events billboard for people throwing parties at their mansion.

 

Back before the game launched, BDO had a unique concept for uninstanced houses/shops which went along the idea of giving someone a "key" to your house/shop. You could only enter the house/shop if the door was unlocked, or if you had a key. I think this idea is a really cool one which could be expanded on for mansions, but obviously the key wouldn't be something physical in your inventory, but maybe a list of residents to the mansion, and whoever is on that list can access it as they please and interact with the furniture/stables function/NPC etc. The higher level your mansion, the more residents you can unlock. The idea is probably a little out there but shows what sort of interactions you can make.

Hi there, you make some good points. I had to run around twice; first time I thought 'Oh, I've missed some rooms somewhere'. But no, that is all there was, which I was a little surprised about.

 

I think above all 'Lack of Purpose' that you mention has been the white elephant in the room for decades regarding housing (personal/guild) in most MMOs. Whilst they're absolutely fun to collect/make items for and decorate, once done many just become largely a storage room of sorts. They're an after thought in many online-games, and this more often than not clearly shows. PA will have to be clever with their ongoing implementation (and integration) of manors to ensure they don't become largely a wasted effort on their part, and unused content on ours.

 

To PA's credit they have mentioned they to plan to work on adding more function to manors over time (something regarding gardening is one example that's already been mentioned). However, we all know talk is very cheap. Like always; time will tell. Fingers-crossed they continue to develop it into something that is truly a standout within the genre.

completely agree. To me, the lack of purpose is the most dissapointing thing. At the very least give us a general shop and central market..
