+1 No energy to keep up with the conversation, but I'd take any compromise to have reasonable protected ways to lifeskill

Actually @Tooshaitoopost I was more answering to Apeira whom I mainly disagreed with. It was not about your post or your propositions, I already told you what I thought about it and I maintain my upvote.

But I also maintain my opinion about it. As a lifeskiller myself, I have been killed a few times by pkers, but it's really rare so I don't see the problem. And even when that happened, those f***ers made me smile, ironically, and it spiced up a bit the game! If nothing happened, it would be booooring...

I'm ok with the system being as it is. Still a pvx, with restrictions and sanction for wild killing. So it doesn't happen often and that's cool! And when I have the oppportunity, when those pkers don't run away (as often!), I even return there with my main to pvp for real! It's fun! That's the game!

My apologies and of course I remember which is why I was confused as to what you were saying. I'd like to also say thanks again for the upvote! I'd like to apologize for the wall of text but I promise this is the last time because I think I bring in a different perspective to the conversation.

I would say that you are right that gathering logs generally does not have PKers anymore because the game is in decline (in terms of population). But, if the game were to suddenly get better and people were coming back to making this their primary MMO, then I could see it like how it used to be pre-remastered era (it was populated and pure pandemonium chaos lol).

To me, I don't want to deal with the "what-ifs" if I'm not a level 49 lifeskiller and this is a general "casual aka majority" train of thought. I just want to lifeskill in peace be it horse training, bartering or mining somewhere. The suggestion solves the problems full-time lifeskillers face and god knows they will do nothing to make lifeskilling part of the PvPvE tri-force since it would invovle a lot of work. Honestly it would be nice if there was a reason why lifeskiling is a part of the open PvP world but there isn't, there's zero reason why it exists or should exist and this aspect likely only appeals to a very, very small minority like 0.0001% of the playerbase. To that end, the suggestion is an option and one I would gladly like to toggle on and play more of. So for you, you can continue enjoying lifeskilling without protection, while others who don't want it can lifeskill with the peace of mind of not getting PK'd randomly on a non-49er. But you know this already.

As for the other person, I doubt PA will come up with a complex risk v reward lifeskill system because that would basically require a tremendous amount of effort (budget) to incorporate. I mean we're talking about maybe a year's work to implement. It would make the game a lot more engaging but it would be cost prohibitive and only make this game more niche than it already is. BDO needs to appeal more to casuals if it wants to survive, this is the law of MMOs. The suggestion doesn't make the game more casual but it gives it the illusion that it is more casual-friendly and that's the important marketing aspect of this solution.

It's not an easy solution to come up with since the problem does in fact exist but I think that this is the compromise that we can (mostly) all agree won't change anything in the scope of PvPvE but give players the choice and the optional quality of life we would hope for. Come to think about it, the griefers that shoot cannons from red zones killing AFK fishers during events (like summer event) or exploit marni's halloween event for griefing will stop for the most part (given you enable immunity). But in the end, this is all intended as a means to invite more players to the game and remain in the game. To provide a illusion that this game is more PvE friendly when in actuality it isn't. To reward players for being a lifeskiller because let's be honest, there are too few and the bulk of them are just fishers or AFK town horse trainers.

On the last note, I know that this system would very likely encourage new players to stay playing to the game because it would give them an incentive to keep playing with their first created character. Being forced into open world PvP even if it doesn't exist that much for lifeskilling (at this time) is enough of a psychological effect to get new players to stop playing. The solution in itself is enough I think to retain a lot of players to the game but PA would know best since they're the ones who would actually know about when new players leave the game.

There definitely should be lifeskill servers or something for people who enjoy the lifeskilling aspect of this wonderful game and who want nothing to do with pvp.

A PVE exclusive server needlessly divides the playerbase.  I hate getting PKed too, but this game is designed to be open-world PVX.  There should be, as this thread is about, a timed system that allows lifeskillers to work in peace.  As for AFK horse training, I think there should several ranches throughout the world like Stonetail Ranch, that are safe zones, have a long, closed track for constant riding, and riding buffs that can be readily purchased there.

I don't personally like or support this idea.

I'm more inclined to give you guys one PvE server, the opposite of Arsha, that comes with it a -10% item drop buff. -10% lifeskill exp on that server is probably appropriate as well.

As a PvEr that has to deal with griefers 1-2 weekly (I grind in a sub-par area atm that almost never has anyone there, they're not there for the spot, they're there to grief), I'll take this for sure. Heck, tell you what, make it -50% item drop chance, I'll still take it.

Go ahead and debuff Exp gains as well if needed, I'll still take those debuffs in a PvE server. However, this would be in a perfect world.

For lifeskillers, I think that OP's idea is amazing. I hope PA listens to this idea. Lifeskillers are the real MvPs of our PvE and PvP experiences.

For those using this post to try to get a PvE server through, I already got downvoted to heck on another post for giving some ideas on this matter and that someone (thank you whoever you are, I forgot the name) already explained PA does not want to do it in any capacity. I am somewhat annoyed I can never truly relax (fortunately have gear to either win or survive and cc or drive away whoever tries to PK me to have time to change channels most of the time), but when you really think about it...

In reality, I think a PvE server would flop hard since there are other ways to grief than just PK someone for no reason. In a PvE server, what's stopping anyone, griefers or not, to just out of spite (for PA giving a PvE server) or whatever other reason, grief rotations or just anywhere really and ruin people's grind/lifeskill, etc...?

I don't mind doing PvP, I do intend to do it in RBF and stuff once I do some changes to my gear, but not so much open world forced PvP, however, it ends up being necessary sometimes (sometimes I'm the one that has had to flag up to stop someone just trying to grief me out of a rotation without killing me).

And, at the end of the day, although I don't like the excuse, it IS true that I did sign up for an open world pvp experience the moment I bought and installed the game and started playing.

I appreciate all the feedback!

What we have to accept is that PA will not be granting us PvE servers as they have been very clear about this unfortunately. With that said, we also don't want to divide the community even further. Personally I don't think PvP belongs in an open world MMORPG if it's not well balanced and does not encourage party play and this game is far from balanced and does not encourage party play. So what then? That's a great question and it's very difficult to answer.

For lifeskillers at least, I think the original answer is a good one because there is no reason why lifeskilling should be a part of PvP. I like the idea of open world trade, pvp and other lifeskills in a game like star citizen but that's only becaue you will eventually be able to hire NPCs and players as your escort and there's a complex bounty system in the works. BDO does not have this type of system and I can't see them implement it.

That's why I think that the proposed idea is the better choice. PA won't agree with PvE servers and the best we will get is Marni's realm, Olvia and Seasonal. PvPvE players don't want changes that will be so radical that nobody is seen roaming around the world anymore and of course there is the thrill of open world pvp. Lifeskillers on the other hand need a system that benefits lifeskilling. The marketboard system needs an overhaul in its own right and that could resolve a lot of issues that lifeskillers face but at the very least, players should not be forced to play as a level 49 lifeskiller and should be given the choice to do so at any level.

It seems the conversation across the board has died down.  Maybe PKing has gone down?  I've haven't been murdered while AFKing for two months now.  Haven't been attacked while actively playing for three months.....  Still, to know that you're safe for at least an hour: it's a nice thing, and I'm sure an easy thing to implement.  Although, I have been doing a lot of lifeskilling in Season servers to get Tuvala upgrade materials, and with Agris buffs helping out, I get pretty good bang for my buck.  Maybe many players are doing what I'm doing, and have found their solution.
