Title: Add Privacy Features For Residences
Family Name:
Areisella

Region (NA/EU): Character on NA, should be implemented for All Regions

Suggestion/Comments:
At the moment, anyone can walk into and around any residence that is on the leaderboard, and if I'm lifeskilling, I'll just have people poking around without any way to play peacefully. I like decorating my houses, but I also like the idea of having a space to myself, so I'd like to suggest three features be added to aid in privacy when I'm in a residence:
- Allow players to boot people from a residence they own at any time (perhaps add a cooldown timer before they can reenter).
- Allow players to ban specific other players/families from entering a residence. Have a visible ban list to remind who has been banned, and possibly unban if the owner wishes.
- Introduce an optional password system on residences to bar unwelcomed guests. No password allows for free entry to anyone who hasn't been banned from the residence. Perhaps friends and guildmates can be exempt.
Adding these simple features would go a long way in making our residences truly feel as open or private as we wish them to be.

Sounds like a huge waste of devlopment time when weighed against real gameplay issues.

Also defeats the purpose of the whole system they implemented to rank homes by points and the system they created to enter and view other player's homes.

Everyone has their own opinion on what they want to see in the game and that's the purpose of the feedback forums. I do think they should put more focus in the housing system, there's a lot that can be improved and it would give people something to do since there's not much you can do but grind your brain away at end-game. Housing is usually the real end game next to cosmetics. +1 for OP because it's a reasonable request and theoretically not hard to implement.

I don't think it'd be a huge amount of development time to put a password field on residences, at the very least, or to put in a "kick player" option. FF14 has a public/private setting, BDO definitely can too. And where a house is ranked in points has nothing to do with whether its decorated nicely. Most houses that are at the top are just furniture dumps anyways, packed so full of stuff you can't even walk around inside. It'd probably be better for those who don't actually care for people to see to just stop people from entering in the first place.

I will bump this with a extra sudgestion.

Tie the residency access into the existing chat player block system. If a person is a troll or toxic and is therefore blocked, then they cannot enter any residences of the person who has blocked them. This allows people to still visit and enjoy the ranked houses.

Only friends, party and guild members can enter your residence directly, or if you are in the top few points wise. The first 3 is manageable easily, and the last is also can be prevented by lowering your points, so how is it even an issue?

I couldn't agree more about the value of acquiring a degree of control over your own residence.

The ability to block someone from entering your residence could put an end to so many of the complaint tickets directed towards PA on a weekly basin in regards to persistant harassment they seem to be unable to act on.

A person should have a place where their stalkers just cannot bother them. A safe place in the safe zone, if you will. Somewhere they can invite their friends to without fear of someone barging in, running around half naked, calling in horses or placing cannons.

Yes, there are other improvements people claim as more important... but that doesn't mean this isn't a valuable quality of life improvement to consider.

Possible Choices:

[Open to everyone]

[Friends and Alliance]

[Friends only]

[Only to me]

And of course a block list for individuals and a block list for guilds. Not that it matters right now but if they decide to renovate the housing system then it would be nice to be able to do these things before harassment becomes an issue. Housing can easily be one of the most favored things to do in this game, it's a shame not more work was put into it. Look how big housing is in other MMORPGs especially FF14.... Massive!

The whole point system is flawed by design, to have a top house you need to stuff so much decoration into it that the space is barely useable after and the challenge is finding free space to place stuff. Its terrible and the top homes i visited dont look nice at all they look like storage rooms for garbage from someone with "messi" syndrome.

It would be nice if we could fuse 2 of the same furniture to double the points and do that again and again so we only need to place a amount of items that looks like decorating a home and not a wild collection from someone having issues to threw away stuff.

Ah, see now, I love the challenge of getting on the leaderboard while creating a realistic, workable living space in the residence. Leaving enough space for people to walk and sit is integral.

There are a few items, such as paintings, that if you use the entire group you get bonus points. Would love to see more of that kind of thing.  And more furniture. And larger houses. And an increased housing limit!

But mostly I really want a place I can keep the harassing people from entering.
