Details: Hi everyone I'm your resident giant sentient toe and BDONavy gm. Today we're gonna talk about how awful the implementation for the epheria dreadnaught is.

First off how does one acquire the Dreadnaught? Ez all you need to do is be part of an alliance that wins castle oh and the entire guild gets one contract that only lasts a week. Or you can get it through everyones favorite mechanic Special Barter very likely at a <1% chance. Obviously dreadnaught contracts will be extremely rare and not gonna lie rewarding them for siege is entirely nonsensical. What does siege have to do with ocean content and progression other than the occasional base bombardment? Traditionally ocean equipment and progression was obtainable from ocean content only so why deviate now? From winning castle of all sources too which are already in full rotation mode. Special barter is at least ocean related but is extremely unreliable (Looks at people with 100k total barters but never khan concentrated magic special barter). In order to not be a meme the Dreadnaught should be obtainable from ocean related content and garunteed to be acquired with serious effort and dedication- not rng or begging a siege guild gm to give you the contract. Additionally its a temporary contract. This is most peoples primary complaint. Why? Many sailors are sitting at full +10 chiro gear on their carracks with no ship upgrades left. The dreadnaught is a beautiful model with potential to be the next ship in the line but its temporary for.... reasons? Give it as a permanant upgrade with its own gear and make it a meaningful upgrade as well. Toes what do you mean its not meaningful? Well lets look at the stats:

Max Dura: 3 Million compared to a carracks 1.5 Million
Rations: 3 Million
Inventory Space: 50 Slots
Maximum LT: 30k
Cannons: 4 per side (lmao)
Ammo Capacity: 2000
Speed: 150% (also lmao)
Turn: 160%
Cabin: 80

For supposedly the grandest ship on the ocean the Epheria Dreadnaughts stats are.... underwhelming to say the least. 150 speed is laughably slow and 160 turn will take you 20 years to make a 30 degree arc. The ONLY saving grace is the 30k LT and the massive 80 cabins. Heres the thing though- We're all still capped at 20 sailor slots so unless ur willing to dedicate 16/20 slots to confidents you can only use rarely and for a week the 80 cabins begin to lose their luster. 30k LT is pretty nice if you overweight your ship. When fully geared an average speed of 200% per dreadnaught would be reasonable in my opinon. Both speed and turn varying based on equipped sailors of course- which would also need an increase on the amount of sailor slots people have. I would consider doubling the slots to a maximum of 40 instead of 20. And of course the biggest sin... 4 cannons per side. Compared to a carracks 9 cannons. Unless those 4 cannons are 150MM Howitzers and do a ton of damage then the dreadnaught is considerably weaker than even mid tier carracks. I would propose rebalancing the cannons so theyre slightly more powerful than a valor like 12 cannons on an 8 second cooldown with damage per cannonball being slightly higher than that of a valor as well (remember pvp damage is capped so pvp damage is only affected by the number of cannons). 3 million dura is pretty strong and a good upgrade over standard 1.5 mil dura carracks.

Finally allow the oceans most sacred green rock the Ebenruth's Nol to be equipped on it. The Nol is such a massive achievement and its power is so immense to not allow Dreadnaughts to equip it would not only invalidate the achievement of the nol but also be a serious downgrade in the Dreadnaughts power compared to a standard carrack.

Thank you for coming to my Toe talk and please reconsider the way this ship is introduced into Black Desert so it can truly become the king of the sea that all sailors strive for.

they already fcked up with carrack coz it makes no sense its faster than smaller ships.

It's just really stupid to tie a new ship to winning siege castle when it has literally nothing to do with sailing at all. I doubt anyone that enjoys sailing wants a temp ship after spending 60 bucks on a carrack skin and countless hours upgrading and getting the perfect sailors. This has got to be one of the most tone deaf PA boondoggles yet lol

agreed that is stupid, it should instead be tied to whoever hits vell last or wins 100 games in a row of yar with vell, obviously you would need a mini vell npc with a restriction of 1 yar game per day with requiring 100 days in a row of winning yar to claim a drednaught, it should also require 30 billion silver to exchange for the dreadnaught after completing the 100 days of yar but it should also be a permanent unlock. This Yar concept is significantly better for everyone even though its still a hassle but its a fair hassle that anyone can achieve with some dedication!

Apparently PA loves yar so connecting it to a reset locked yar with vell would probably be possible and hilarious

Also if 100 days in a row of yar isnt good enough then make it 100 vells in a row where if you miss a vell it goes to zero :)

I thought the obvious choice would be to have this be the final progression of the carrack, or to add a final tier up upgraded armor for carrack, or to make it a skin for carracks. This is just them being lazy and using an asset from years ago instead of giving us content. Sadly, even if you do get this "special" ship there's literally nothing to do with it in the ocean content lmao...

I just want to add this other point: Giving people with potentially ZERO investment in sailing the best ship in the game for 7 days because they won castle is really spitting in the face of sailors who have put in a huge investment building carracks and hitting +10 armor with nol.

This is equal to giving the winners of castle gearcapped gear for 7 days if you compare land to sea content.

heres the kicker, people who win castle more often than not already have gear thats better than required to participate in 66% of the sieges and most likely gear thats basically "capped" in other 33% castles
