All i can really say is, tough? Get over it? Cuz its happening.
Since you accused some of having no networking knowledge ,Ping isnt equal to latency , ping is a program that use ICMP to communicate a round trip an calculates the time between sender an reciever which doesnt count for overhead like the processing at the opposite end with the server. Since you said someone earlier had no network knowledge you may want to edit you post an change "ping to latency". Since you dont have a clue about networking.
You would know distance isnt equal to delay/latency between client an server, you have routing protocols , cabling type , hops and in general where the traffic is directed. Plus the "hops" have to reflect said traffic and since asia are known to not have fast internet or reliable internet as some of the countries in asia do not have the funds to pay for proper backbone for the amount of traffic OCE would probably destroy their servers or OCE will have major issues.
Also PA probably wont move the servers as they have to count for OCE, which says when you sign up to the website, you get to choose EU or "NA/OCE as one region" so yeah OCE are meant to be on NA servers , i hope they give us our own server so we can watch yous carry on having the same problems because the servers are speced to low for the demand with a to lower tickrate . You also said it would be fair for everyone ? Who part of the east coast NA only ? Right now they are in centre of OCE and NA as a whole which is how its meant to be. Since NZ and Aus both have direct fibre cables to the US where as taiwan have copper cabling + tones of different routes an unoptimzed hops they have to get through there is a massive penalty. Also you should look up tickrate as you will find one of BDOs current issue right now so you actually know more about networking as that is one of the major issues eith online to low of a tickrate an yes it does increase server load also showing the issues of PA under speccing servers.
Hence your "abomination latency" your acting is bad is nothing compared to what OCE have to put up with. We dont get our own servers yous probably wont get your central servers either most likely as they have probably realized they have to cater for us hence the no communication about it. An even when the servers are moved good luck as the provlems will persist if they dont increase the specs of the server and good luck fighting any perma iframe class from OCE as we will ignore your protections an you will have chronic issues of fighting us :)
Presently everyone seems busy with the LotML expansion and soon afterwards we will be seeing the Calpheon ball. I predict we'll be learning more about the datacenter migration at that time. I do like the idea behind it from a NA standpoint, but the real problem is people who connect from far away regions causing massive latency for everyone playing in the instanced area. Preferably PA could expand its reach in the future to better support players in other parts of the world.
Exactly where can their servers be expanded to? You can view a list of Azure datacenters online and take a peak. Unfortunately it's prohibitively expensive and perhaps unreasonable on a financial PoV to support more regions. For example, perhaps people from Somalia don't normally pay anything to play the game so it wouldn't make sense to have a datacenter dedicated for them. I don't know the details, but what I do know is that they have been interested in migrating and are likely working closely with Microsoft reps to make this transition happen quickly and seamlessly likely later this year.
For now we can only wait until they speak further on this topic which is most likely going to happen during July's Calpheon Ball.
