Family Name: Velybear

Region (NA/EU): NA

Suggestions/Comments: It would be nice if footsteps for players and horses had more accurate sound according to what surface theyre on. I believe a variety of sound effects exist in game but they aren't used as well as they could be, and I think it could use a revamp to keep BDO up to modern standards.
Examples: Riding a horse from valencia to ancado, you will hear a sandy footstep but if you get off the horse your character has a generic footstep with no sand effect. This effect could also be used on the beaches of velia, epheria, oquillas eye, etc
Walking in grass around towns, you will almost never hear the rustle of grass and leaves like you should except in very few specific areas.
Riding a horse or walking on the stone streets of calpheon and heidel will give you the same generic foostep with no rocky/stone sound.
Walking around in the magnus should have a metallic sound but you only hear the generic footstep
Trading wagons will have the same generic loop and wont sound any different when, for example, going over a wood bridge.
etc etc
I feel like this is a simple change and fairly easy thing to address that would help BDO feel more immersive. Currently rain and snow sound effects work really well, it would be nice if all surfaces behaved this way.

I dunno.... I'd support this, but given their track record on updates concerning anything regarding sound or music.......

It's going to be a buggy, broken mess, far worse than what it is right now.  You'll be bleeding from your ears and heart with every sound or lack thereof that this game makes.

Also, every update they make has been against immersion.  I don't think they want us to get immersed in this world.  Just grind monsters, kill other players and flex.

Sorry, I'm just bitter about where this game has been going the past year and a half......

I will never forget April 13th, 2022, a day of perpetual woe.

Ah that's a shame, I quite liked the eternal winter music and the update to older music, I just wish it was implemented better. Balenos and Calpheon have some fantastic melodies but I feel like anytime I'm wandering around those areas, I hear intense battle music like I'm fighting Elion, or places like serendia just have "generic orchestral noise" with no memorable melody and it doesn't really fit what's going on in the game, like I'll be taking my trade wagon somewhere or picking some herbs and the music sounds like something from a movie scene.

For music, I'd love if each zone had a nice base melody that had 3-5 variations that played on loop, adding a 1 minute timer between tracks was a mistake imo because sometimes I want to keep hearing music and the dead silence is awkward. They can do it like WoW where you can enable music to play once and also have the option to loop. Also when a song starts, it should play to finish imo because if you're running through zones it's kinda annoying to have music constantly changing and sometimes I wanna let one play out but I don't want to stay in that area just to hear it.

Black Desert OST - Calpheon Farm 1 - YouTube

This and farm 2 are probably my favorite tracks just for how simple and thematic they are, if they did tracks like these everywhere and kept the orchestral noise to a minimum I think it'd be super immersive. If music is too busy and distracting, it takes away from the game experience.
