I seen Lazy Peon review when he says its pretty bad but I wouldnt think its so bad on so many levels. Its extremely long, it took me like 9 hours of speed R spamming. The story is so childish with so many mundane tasks like to kill 3 boars in every tale, killing 3 boars is like only combat every hour. The cutscenes are also so amaturish. The rewards are non existant, there is like 1 ap 1 dp at the end but othere then that? Nothing. I hate that island allready, been crossing it whole day for no reason.
Overall I was thinking I am playing game for 6 year old child. Really awful content and the developers should be ashamed. If this is what new player choose as first main story they will not last long.
I did like 5k quests allready so I can do more but this was just not fun at all.
Here is the Lazy peon review video, he talk about LOLM in second half. I completely agree with him.

Contradiction spotted.
How can you know the story is childish when you spammed R? XD
Don't worry, I don't expect a real answer from you, you seem to be fishing for drama between several topics on these forums. ;)

unskippable cutscenes show you the entire story
I guess I must be one of the very few who found it enjoyable. It was relaxing to me and a nice change of pace, but it's not for everyone. I actually hope they expand on LOML and add more areas like that. As for the stories being childish I thought that was kind of the point, they were supposed to be storybook folk lore type quests. Similar to Brothers Grimm fairytales but Korean. I don't get why people start out in that area if they watched videos and knew what to expect and decided it wasn't their cup of tea. You can pick a different starting zone.
Also it's a decent area to train horses and other life skills due to lack of mobs. =)
Your not the only one. I personally hate questing but the lore and how they tied it to BDO was def much better than other areas.
The concept was solid and the visuals are stunning.
Outside of that it is a garbage @ss update. Not a fan of the boss rush, not a fan of the way it pays out VS similar time grinding. 50 boxes opened to nothing in them at all I got ZERO in any of the new crystals or accessories. I purchased mine from market along with the flame.
I honestly have ZERO use for the place and most likely other than Pots will never go back there.
It is completely dead content.
I am in the minority I guess. I think PA has done a much better job with this than any story stuff in the past. It's not perfect but it's far better than past experiences and I'm excited for the future if they're going this route. But I come from FFXIV and sitting through story quests is literally nothing to me -- like yeah we should have more fighting stuff dispersed around it but I'm okay with how it is.
Maybe some more puzzles involved would be cool. I liked the sneaking stuff and processing. Investigations and stuff would be neat, too.
Edit: btw I switched back and forth between Japanese and Korean VAs if it matters. Far better than the English VA experience.
I agree with OP
I don't think it is horrible at all, I enjoyed it. I don't think it should be a new player experience though, mainly because it doesn't highlight any combat and it is very lengthy.

if it is 9 hours it mean it is sucess, when quest campaing is short to 10 minutes it mean dev didnt put effort to made questing in their game
but 9 hours look good, mean this quest is longer than 70% video game
I really enjoyed the Intent and Narrative of the story even if it wasn't translated super well or just had a LOT of forgiegn cultural concepts that literally don't translate well to us liberal-hegemonic orthodoxy Westerners. It's a good place to play through later when you just want to stop and passively smell flowers for a weekend or two like reading a visual novel.
People who are incapable of Heterodoxic thinking are probably going to hate the writing nomatter how carefully they read it. And that's fine too... not EVERYTHING has to be made just for them.
