If you sail out to Vell's Realm then swap to another character, when you swap back to the character at Vell's Realm and take the helm of you ship, your ship will now be out of sync with the ocean waves and spend about half of the time partially submerged. This makes it very hard to hit Vell because if you fire at the wrong time the canonballs just explode as soon as they leave the barrell.
This has become a much bigger issue now that Sangoon spawns at the same time as Vell. I park a character at Vell, kill Sangoon then swap back to the character at Vell. So this is impacting me EVERY Wednesday after reset.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Board a Carrack and sail out to Vell BEFORE Vell spawns.
2. Swap to another character and wait for Vell to spawn.
3. AFTER Vell spawns, swap back to the character at Vell.
4. Take the helm of the Carrack and attempt to shoot Vell.
5. Observe that the ship is frequently underwater and canonballs have 0 travel distance.
I don't think this matters but I specifically use a Valor Carrack on Calpheon 4 server in the NA Region.
Same issue with caravel and galleass.
And in EU.
It happens with all boats. I saw someone explain it as a z-axis resolution issue that occurs if you just load into an ocean section (probably in one of the other reports in this forum of the same issue). The effect is reduced if your loading zone is outside of your target zone (Vell in this case), then you sail over to your target, but it appears to need to be more than one zone to remove the effect entirely.
As for Sangoon/Vell: I did that last week - parked at Vell, swapped over to Sangoon and waited for the spawn, was present for the kill - but got no weekly loot (no regional quest/reward popped). Is there a trick to getting that spawn recognized as counting for the weekly, and still make it out to Vell?

It sounds like you are saying you didn't get credit for Sangoon. If you hit him at least once, you should have gotten the loot. Make sure you have a pet out. It works like Garmoth you have to loot this scroll like thing from the boss and that triggers the regional reward completion. I've never had any issue with any of the world bosses and not getting the loot 1x/week each.
Ok, thanks for confirming that it does work like it seems it should. Yep, I hit 'em and pets were out, not sure what I missed. Will have to try that again. Well, sort of - if I wanted to have the ocean problem at Vell again too : )
