I'd like for shai's to receive a real awakening weapon and reworks to be an actual class; but this post is specifically about delusive light. Shai needs a much larger overhaul but this one specific skill needs addressed yesterday.
Pearl Abyss literally forgot about Delusive Light when they did the recent changes to DR and Evasion / Accuracy and movement speed affecting more skills.
Deletes crit addons and self buffs
10+15% movement speed down for 25% total with a PEN Sol
26 AP Down
12% Accuracy down
The kicker? These debuffs are all for 20 seconds on a 30 second cooldown. PA forgot that most classes had their accuracy down reduced to 3-6%, that most slows got reduced in duration and amount.
Recommendation:
- Reduce duration of slow debuff to 5 seconds, consider reduction of slow amount.
- Reduce AP down to 10 seconds, reduce AP down to 15
- Reduce accuracy down to 10 seconds, reduce amount to 6%
- Remove the critical hit chance reduction, this is unfairly strong against classes who happen to rely on crit chance buffs instead of just having their primary skills be 100% crit by default. Possibly swap it out for a flat, albeit small reduction in special attack damage if you really hate the idea of a straight nerf.
- Change delusive light to Forward Guard instead of Super Armor; this change should also be made to Misty Haze as a PvE buff and PvP nerf
I also recommend that all shai buffs and debuffs scale off of AP so that shais cannot stack so much DP that they are literal unkillable buff bots. This should be solely based on sheet AP so that it does not affect capped content where they are killable enough for the most part. I recommend around the 250 AP mark to have 100% buff effectiveness with it being reduced harshly for having less. That mark is achievable in tuvala for new players as far as PvE goes and would limit defensive gems to around 3 in uncapped PvP.
Honestly? I pretty much agree. This is part of tuning down her support kit and in favour of solo buffs/rework (She really needs an full rework in fact)
Only thing i will disagree is change to FG, which will make the skill unusable in pvp. (Delusive Light isnt used in PvE)

Maybe delusive could be SA still, but Misty really needs to be FG. Both skills are absolute enemy gutting abilities that can hit an entire group of players at once instantly at the click of a button. Even if delusive got nerfed to what I recommended, it would be extremely strong.
Misty being FG would also be somewhat nice at places like Doluns 2, coming from someone that has grinded hundreds of hours there on shai for the new artifacts. In PvP, Misty simply doesn't have enough counterplay for how obscenely strong it is.

Passive tankiness needs to be reduced in favor of some active survival, perhaps some of her SA being 50% damage reduction similar to succession corsair, or more active self healing that requires hitting enemies. A total rework would be ideal but I'm uncertain if PA would be willing to since they simultaneously love shai to make her required for nearly all content, yet hate her for treating her like a pretend class in regards to her awakening weapon and other play.

A full rework is what i have been asking for a long time, its the only sensible solution.
Also, yes misty is obscenely op but making it FG again, with how the skill works, is gonna make it too difficult to use in melee action PVP, i think they would need to change how this skill is applied frankly.

I agree entirely, Shai needs a lot of changes and has a lot of balance issues particularly around how she can impact fights long after dying and her skills have very little expression but insane impact. Not only has it been difficult for players to know what works or fails but also the very shai mains themselves often miss powerful options for lengthy periods of time until posts like this bring the discussion to the streamers.
I would like shai to be powerful because the player is talented not because the skill is overtuned and brokenly OP. The way they designed shai to be exponential in her power potential means that we can only ever expect and deserve nerfs as the game progresses. This (effort by and for shais to have power design improved) has resulted in PA discovering the design issue and has already resutled in patched content involving similar abilities such as percentile healing being removed from the game.
I have hope the devs are working on the long requested shai rework but simply don't have a fully supported resolution at this time.

Suggesting changing misty haze or delusive light to being frontal is the most ridiculous thing and trying to disguise it as Pve buff is comical.
As someone that has "grinded oluns hundreds of hours " you surely show that you have no idea of how pvp works on this class to try to change it.
