Suggestion(s)/Comment(s): Every storage-related interface should have same 8-slot-per-row format (like back in the days)
Details:
Hello fellow Adventurers and Pearl Abyss Team,
I'd like to bring attention to an issue that, while seemingly minor on the surface, significantly affects the visual integrity and usability of Black Desert Online inventory and storage systems: the inconsistency in UI slot layouts across various storage interfaces.
What Changed - and Why It Matters
Originally, all storage-related interfaces - Inventory, Storage, Guild Storage, Warehouse, and Transport Wagon - shared a consistent layout:
8 slots per row,
192 total slots,
A clean grid of 24 rows perfectly divided across 3 visible pages (8 rows per page).
This design wasn't just visually appealing - it made practical sense. It was intuitive, orderly, and thoughtfully structured. Even Value Pack bonuses (+16 slots) and slot expansion purchases (1, 4, 8, 16) were aligned with this system. Everything just fit.
However, a UI change, that was implemented several years ago, has disrupted that consistency:
Storage and Guild Storage now display 9 slots per row, still capped at 192 slots — resulting in 21 full rows and 3 leftover slots, which creates a visually awkward, incomplete look.
Inventory and Warehouse still follow the 8-slot layout, which makes this inconsistency more glaring.
Wagon inventory now has 7 slots per row, deviating even further.
Why This Matters
These UI inconsistencies may seem minor, but they impact the overall experience in a few key ways:
Visual Disorganization: The old layout was clean and grid-perfect. Now the UI looks unfinished and messy — especially with those 3 leftover slots at the bottom.
Value Pack Misalignment: The +16 slot bonus now gives one full row and 7 extra slots in Storage — which no longer fits cleanly into the layout, reducing its visual and functional satisfaction.
Lack of Design Cohesion: Different systems using 7, 8, and 9-slot rows feels messy and arbitrary, not deliberate or polished.
A Simple Solution - Restore Consistency
Please consider restoring the original 8-slot-per-row format for all inventory-related UIs:
Re-align all storage types to follow the same structure (Inventory, Storage, Guild Storage, Warehouse, Wagon).
Maintain the existing total slot counts, but return to layouts that respect the clean 8xN grid.
This will also ensure that Value Pack and slot expansions once again offer a satisfying, intuitive improvement.
Totally agree! Consistency matters more than people realize.
The old 8-slot-per-row format was clean, intuitive, and just felt right.
Bringing it back would be a small change with a big positive impact on the overall experience.
Hoping the devs give this some love!
I also get easily bothered by 9 slot storage and i agree completely it would be more intuitive if it was unified over all storages as it used to be, 9 slot system has its benefit of seeing more items BUT if its suposed to be like that then edit all other UIs to fit and adjust purchasable slots to fit general layout. This change would be easy one to implement and would bring so much QoL by even finding items easier or sort storages for those of us that dont use auto-arrange system.
I personally don't experience too many issues with it, but I agree: Consistency is key.
Let's stick to a consistent format.
yes agreed!
I don't think its a minor thing, visual clarity and consistency is important. I was a UI designer and 8 is a commonly used number as it is easily multiplied / divisible and easier to parse. Sticking to multiples of 8s across the UI will very naturally make things go together even if unintended, it will be easier to design with in the future. 9s will give you odds and evens and have pixels left over.

I would also like to add, that consistency in UI design isn't just about aesthetics — it deeply affects usability and cognitive comfort.
For players with conditions like OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) or ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), the irregular slot layouts can be especially frustrating or distracting. For example, someone with OCD might experience significant discomfort seeing mismatched row patterns or leftover slots, which can make managing storage feel stressful rather than enjoyable.
Restoring the clean, uniform 8-slot-per-row layout would not only bring back a sense of order and polish but also make the game more inclusive and mentally accommodating for all players.
Totally agree with that, been bothering me since I first tried the game back in the days, when there were still 8 slots in a row, and then came back after a break and turned out it's all broken now
I totally agree with the topic of this thread.
As Ellitshap said: For people with certain disorders...
As for OCD, I don't know, as I don't necessarily experience it, at least I think so.
But being ADHD, I can say that it's really unpleasant and stressful to see this inconsistency, especially in the last three boxes that tend to make me tense...
It would be great to think about it again, thanks for the thread!
I stand with my autistic/OCD brothers and sisters.
Theoretically, there could be another way of fixing it - simplifying all UI's to 10x10x2, but then also VP benefits and all purchasable slots options should be tweaked to match the new system, also adding 8 more slots everywhere, which does look like more work, so just reversing it back to 8x8x3 (just like character inventory atm) looks like easier solution, that will still look good enough:)
