“Why the Buffs Are Not Balance — They Are Temporary Outliers”
One of the most important historical patterns in BDO is this:
Classes are not buffed to be balanced. They are buffed to become temporary outliers — hyper‑competitive, unsustainably strong, and intentionally short‑lived.
This is not speculation. It is observable across years of patches.
✅ 1. When a class enters the spotlight, it is not made “viable” — it is made dominant
The buffs are not subtle. They are not careful. They are not tuned for long‑term stability.
They are over‑tuned:
-
excessive protections
-
inflated damage
-
unrealistic stamina efficiency
-
overtuned accuracy
-
inflated PvE clear speed
-
disproportionate mobility
-
overloaded kits
These are not “balance adjustments.” They are temporary power spikes engineered to force migration.
✅ 2. The dominance is not meant to last — it is meant to trigger spending
Once the class becomes:
-
popular
-
profitable
-
saturated
…it is nerfed back down, often brutally.
This cycle repeats with mathematical consistency.
✅ 3. This is not balance — it is controlled instability
True balance aims for:
-
long‑term stability
-
fairness
-
predictability
-
competitive integrity
BDO’s pattern shows the opposite:
-
short‑term dominance
-
engineered outliers
-
forced meta churn
-
predictable collapse after profitability
This is not an accident. It is a business model.
✅ 4. Why this is deceptive
Pearl Abyss presents these changes as:
-
“balance patches”
-
“ecosystem adjustments”
-
“fairness improvements”
-
“responding to player feedback”
But the historical pattern shows:
-
the buffs are too extreme to be balance
-
the nerfs are too predictable to be accidental
-
the timing aligns with monetization cycles
-
the power spikes are intentionally unsustainable
This is deception by design:
Players are told the changes are for balance, but the actual purpose is to create temporary outliers that drive reroll spending.
✅ 5. Why this qualifies as malicious deception
Under this framework, deception becomes malicious when:
-
the deception is intentional
-
the harm is predictable
-
the harm is necessary for the business model
-
the company continues despite knowing the harm
BDO’s history satisfies all four.
The over‑tuning is not a mistake. It is the mechanism.
The nerf is not a correction. It is the reset.
The cycle is not balance. It is profitable instability disguised as balance.
ahm ... dont want to hurt your feelings but its clear for a veeeeeeeeery LOOOOOOOONG Time.....
have you ever wondered when a new class comes out that its brokenly overpowered? i mean really broken as fuck. I remember the time back when the mystique came out with her awakening.... till then everyone was outrageging because of the mage classes and now the mystique deleted them whitout effort and all the other ones too.
guess when they fixed the OP issue? Well after they sold enough costumes and class related stuff in the shop : D and thats the pattern since then. And because we dont want to piss of our long time warriors etc. they repeated this with rebalances on the older classes to squeeze out money there too.
everything this piss pour devs are doing is just related to money. if it would be different, they would start caping several game modes so people have to use skill and not BS Gear Score. it is like this in every korean MMO. this game is unbalanceable... they just act like if they would balance stuff to manipulate the weak minded crowd and whales into switching to the actual metaclass for nodewars or pvp so they can waste their money on that one till the next weak minded manipulation....aahhh i mean class balance comes around the corner.
the only reason this game is still alive is because it still looks good and because of the nostalgia of the early days.
every activity in this game is a retarded chore and they just copy and paste it over into every new update... i mean who the fuck really enjoys this waste of life time? <- running around in circles for hours while praying to RNG Jesus?
im still surprised that they havent implemented autocombat and macros into the game...
