Same happened to me, use Esc --> Escape; it puts you back to the device where you insert the dagger to start the boss fight; then you can jump down to enter the portal.

Still, its really silly that an elevator comes down when you have to enter the portal. Simply remove the elevator and simply make the portal appear on the platform.
