Where to start?

To get a Dream horse you first need to have a Tier8 courser with a level of 30 (or higher), this means the tier8 horse has the following skills: Charge, Drift, Sprint, Instant Accel, Sideways, S:Sideways and S:Instant Accel.

There are a few ways to get a tier8 horse, the easiest two ways would be using a coupon from an event or buying it from the horse market.

The difficult way would be to use the horse breeding functions at the stablekeeper to get a tier8 horse with a bit of luck.

After you have your tier8 horse you need to level them up to 30 (or higher) and hopefully they get the skills needed to become a courser.  If you're missing some skills you can choose to use Mount Skill Change Coupons from the pearl store, or to sell the horse and try again on a new horse. However since this is quite difficult to get I suggest turning on notifications for the horse market and buying a tier8 with all courser skills.

Which horse should I get?

Congratulations on getting your level30 tier8 courser, now the next step is to check them in the stables at either Stonetail Horseranch in Mediah or at the stablekeeper Melabee in Grána. now you can select Courser Training to start the awakening process.

Before you start gathering our awakening materials you'll need to choose a horse you wish to get:

Arduanatt/Pegasus: Best T9 for mobility, air gliding after double jump.

Diné/Unicorn: Best for desert travel as the desert sands do not slow Diné down, supportive healing skills for self and friends

Doom: Best for offensive combat. 2Seater skill. fast active travel thanks to a third Instant Accel.

How does Horse Awakening work?

After checking in your horse at the right stable and choosing your preffered Dream horse(s) you need to get the materials needed for Awakening.

The materials that can be used for each horse are as follows, I will explain how to get the item in parentheses.

Arduanatt/Pegasus (Skill): Stonetail Fodder (Simple cooking of farming byproducts) -- Rainbow Fruit Gem (trading in Golden Seal [Imperial Delivery]) -- Fruit of Yianaros (event item)

Diné/Unicorn (Elegance): Breezy Conch Seaweed (from Fishing or trading in Golden Seal [Imperial Fishing] or trading in Peridot Petals) -- Spirit Pouch of Ferocious Beast (hunting Khalk or whales or trading in Peridot Petals) -- Mysterious Blue Conch (event item)

Doom (Strength): Pure Forest Breath (defeating monsters) -- Deep Blue Hoof Root (gathering or trading in Peridot Leaf/Peridot Petal obtained through quests in Kamasylvia) -- Brilliant Crimson Fire Flower (event item)

Each of the not event items can also come from the Courser training reward box obtained from Golden Seal [Imperial Training].

Each of these normal items gives 1% towards your awakening, while event items give 2%. The items are half as effective if the courser training progress goes past 100%, with a maximum of 180% in a single courser training type.

To start an Awakening attempt the horse needs a total of 200% training progress and a Krogdalo Origin Stone, however, since the training progress caps at 180% you need to spread the 200% over multiple training types. a few popular methods are 100%/100%/0% where you put 0% progress towards your least favourite horse. Another method is the one where you follow market prices to get the cheapest attempt by mixing in currently low priced items together with self collected items.

Awakening time!

Now that you have 200% progress it's time to collect a Krogdalo Origin Stone and possibly some Cron Stones. Return to the Stablekeeper and see if you're lucky.

If the attempt fails (without Cron Stones) you lose all the training progress and will be back at 0% with a +1 to your horse failstack.
If you used Cron Stones during the failed attempt you will lose 50% of the training progress, putting you back at 100% with a +1 to your horse failstack.

Repeat the progress of collecting training items (and Cron Stones if you wish) until the game blesses you with a magical horse. Good luck and ride safely adventurers.

Thanks for the guide. It was a good read and it did shed light into the whole process.

I started this process back before this patch even went live. I had seen the process from our neighbors overseas and worked hard to get that tier 8 with all the skills. The patch goes live and I ended up rage quitting BDO.
At the time Tier 8s weren't something people actively sought, the horse market was rather dry... So breeding was the only real method. I spent a ton of IRL cash just to find out I was only a third of the way to my deam horse.
I have returned within the last 6 weeks and I am back to working on this project... But nothing is going to make that scar heal... Imagine how I could have just waited and bought a Tier 8 on horse market today.... Sadge

While the author's heart is in the right place, this guide effectively gives no real insights on getting a dream horse.

It doesn't touch on methods to efficiently getting the mats (which, imo, is the most important aspect of "getting" a dreamhorse). Anyone could google the things you wrote and get more info on the first random hit.

It certainly doesn't shed any insider knowledge that would actually help people get dreamhorses - such as how to properly set up and care for farms to obtain mats, or how to take advantage of events to maximize mat acquisition.

It's ultimately a nothingburger of a guide that will be lost in the crowd of other nothingburgers.

Imagine spending time making an overall useless comment critisizing OP for the post's lack of the content you want instead of just... continuing to look elsewhere.

Here is a link to a pretty solid guide with info about the items used to build up your Courser for Awakening: https://altarofgaming.com/black-desert-online-tier-9-dream-horse-awakening-guide/#dream-horse-materials

Your guide has been useful for me to realize that it is better to simply save 10-12 billion and buy them in the horse market as the first reply said haha. there are always 50+ pages of them in the market. Too reliant on the RNG for getting the courser and too many time invested for leveling a Grade 8 horse and also the materials...

Just casually opened this thread, and everything is nicely covered.
You can check everywhere/everyone knows where items drops and how to get them.
OP wrote about success , how , when.
So big W on OP , sorry to hurt your feelings. :)
