After the September 29th maintenance, the seven different types of PEN (V) Tuvala Gear can be exchanged for TET (IV) Boss Gear that cannot be traded on the market. To provide a little extra something for more veteran Adventurers, we’ve also made it possible to trade in a TET (IV) Boss gears (available on the market) in exchange for a TET (IV) Boss gears (unavailable on the market). Please keep in mind that this exchange is allowed only once per Family.

Right now, you might be wondering what the benefit is when you trade in a Boss gear for one that can’t be traded on the market. Not to worry! These newly exchanged Boss Gear will offer a new way to be enhanced to PEN (V) level with steady effort!

Instead of fixing the already existing mechanisms (enchanting, chapras), they add more clutter features to do the same easier, which makes the other features obsolate, but atleast they can sell it as a change I guess.

I'm a bit unclear on that part of the changes: 

"2. More Support from Growth Pass

When Adventurers graduate from Season+ server, we’ll be providing a Growth Pass to help Adventurers to live the experience in the world of Black Desert. Growth Pass will consist of various challenges (and matching rewards) that will not only help you learn more about the world but also gauge your progression in the diverse contents of Black Desert. When you’ve finally completed the entire Growth Pass, you’ll be more than ready to dive deeper into your journey in Black Desert. Growth Pass will be made available to any Season+ server graduated character, free of purchase."

Does that mean this growth pass is only available to the character that graduated season? Or can you complete those challenges and upgrade TET Boss -> PEN on existing or time-pieced characters as well?

I'm going to guess the guarenteed PEN gear will be like the guarenteed PEN accessory-daily quests for some magic powder or crystal or some sh!t.

That whole 'steady effort' thing screams 'grind until your eyes bleed'.

They should just fix their Caphras system that was intended for exactly this, not adding a "new way" to progress towards Pen.
But as always PA is just neglecting what the playerbase wants and most likely introduce some new kind of Item that makes it more "convienient" to progress towards Pen.
Btw enhancing to Pen wouldnt be a problem if they had not raised the Cron Stone prices back when they introduced their pearl shop outfit p2w strategy (For those that do not know it, few years ago you could not extract Cron Stones from outfits and the smiths at every city sold Crons for 1mio instead of 2).

Well, watching the announcement it looks more like an out-of-season season pass, with multiple challenges in different fields (combat, questing, life skills).

The current gear progression systems need a rework/redesign badly and they just throw another mechanic on top. This will definitily work, will it. :)

I simply hope that BDO isn't trying to go on the "daily chores" way to play, and that the "steady effort" can be managed by ourselves without daily limits or absurd time gates (even if I understand that time gates are sometimes necessary, I just want them to be reasonable).
