the year is 2023 and here I stand among Heidel Inn's NPC's. all have left me now as I wait for the final Season+ PEN boss gear to get done cooking in the alchemy utensil I have repaired thousands of times....
I might have full PEN boss gear, but none of it can be sold on the marketplace for silver, I dont remember why this is important anymore- but this is what they kept saying...
Everyone is the same now, we all have the same gear... All PEN boss... All non-tradeable...
I read on the wall of the Inn- "whats a Crescent Saunil?"
To this day I still dont know...
What I think is that this will be an ok thing as even older players that are stuck with tet gear but dislike enhancing gambling can participate.
What I also know is that even if they all end up with full pen boss gear that they cannot sell they will still be behind those people that already have pen everything including pen blackstar items or fallen god items.
It is an attempt, yet to be seen how successful it will be, to get newer players to stick around and maybe get involved in the pvp side of the game. It could be a great step or it could be an abysmal failure, we will have to wait and see.
To all the vets crying that they will lose the advantage that they worked toward I ask what you would prefer between a thriving game with more new players staying or a stagnant maybe dying game?
Many things you have to do dailies on. Pit of Undying for instance you have to do dailies, T10 horses you have to do dailies, neither of those can be bought with silver. The Daily boss scrolls can only be done with dailies. The Pen Daily is just the most recent addition. I will say that BDO is not as bad as WoW, and other MMOs out there but if we don't push back now it will very likely get there.
I feel you. Thing, though...the dailies are pretty optional. Don't have to do them. Aside from wantng a T10, which cannot be bought or sold, you can bypass all of these dailies and still progress.
IDK much about WoW. I played DCUO religiously before BDO came out (not into mainstream over "underground" AKA less mainstream games), and in DC, dailies were pretty much required to progress. Dailies in BDO, you can skip entirely, and still attain the same progress. These dailies in BDO, to me, seem like a boost. Helps boost players by offering a cheap and guaranteed way to progress as an option, alongside current options, like normally making silver, which can be interpretted as a sort of "daily" event as well. IE: Grind for at least an hour a day, make at least 500m a day, or something like that.
I'd hate for dailies to be mandatory in BDO like it was in DCUO (though, I have many fond memories in that game), what I like about BDO is it's open-endedness and focus on the individual player doing things for themselves instead of the game handholding them like in DC where it's like "do x, y, z to progress". In BDO, it's more like, "make the alphabet yourself", least how I see it lol.
My bet is that it'll be like the Pen Accessory quest where it'll take like 3 months of dailies to manufacture an enhancement stone for 100% or someshit, PA is very good at releasing convoluted bullshit like that.
I still don't understand why they don't just tweak the TRI & TET Caphras XP levels.
Make Caphrasing from TRI to TET to PEN less egregious; and there the "steady effort progression" system right there.

Cause that would be the logical thing to do.
And this is PA, they don't do that.
1 month of dailies for each item. i'm calling it now.
