is horse race dead?

No one joins in and i get kicked out after 10 sec.

It's dead, like the mayority of the pointless, DOA content they put into the game for no reason.

The feature works, I think you might want to get some people together and not depend upon the system to set you up with a group.  I tried out the Yar mini game and found I needed someone to play with, picked up the cellphone and made that call.  Turns out I suck at Yar and Yahtzee both!  We only played 2 rounds and I lost both, the start of the second round my opponent got a Yar on the first draw!   We decided to go kill things instead, but we both played it.  They told me they got a bunch of titles for winning.

Horse racing and Yar are mini games meant to bring people together and play in a group.  I don't mean to point any fingers, however I think there are several people who don't function well in group activities.   If you don't belong to a guild, try hitting players up in chat.  Better yet, maybe you could start a player event by making your own weekend derby.  Just post a date and time frame, you want to do horse races, here in a forum thread, and tell people where to meet up.

Well why is it dead? The problem is that such unrelated gameplay bits might work well for a la-di-dah mobile game. But on the PC I got waaay better options if I wanted to play racing, card games, w/e. 

I really feel sad for the development time wasted on things that attempt to make the game more "social" whilst core gameplay really isn´t - and other issues are left untouched as well. I predict Yar to turn as dead as horse race within a short period of time. Wish they´d rather have moved those Yar devs to grant proper class reworks even for the long time "meh" classes. Rather than just doing some more or often less inspired balancing here and there.

A lot content in this game is dead, because PA doesn't know how to balance rewards an make an enjoyable progression system. Craft workshops dead content, Med grind zones dead content, trading dead content, hunting dead content, that XP quest in the north mountains of Kama dead content, harpoon fish dead content, smuggling dead content, Altar of Blood dead content, many of field bosses in the game dead content. In fact some of this content is so dead that I bet 90% of the game's population doesn't even know it exists in the game that how bad PA is at balancing rewards in this game's content.

All they have to do is award Magic Shards to everything and all the content will be alive again.

In FF14, Chocobo racing was dead as well until they made chocobo racing available from the duty finder menu. I imagine that people don't give two sheets about travelling to the most inconvenient location to race. If they want to add relevancy to much of the dead content they need to make it more convenient to access. I'm not travelling for an hour from oquilla's eye just to race

That is exactly how the one horse race works you can join from

anywhere from the menu. Someone hit the nail on the head earlier for whatever reason developers don't get how to properly provide rewards for activities. We are the point in games where people don't play for fun they play for the rewards. You make it so level 3 goblins grind for 500 million an hour the entire player base will be packed in there trying to kill a goblin and then whining on the forums "we need more goblin spawns".
