No I believe his 4 points is why BDO is a niche MMO. Where most players in it just mostly AFK in safe zones. And not a widely recieve mainstream MMO. Which hundreds of thousands if not millions of active MMO players flock to.

Again I'm not saying BDO is a bad MMO. I'm just saying it's structure does not do much to retain many active MMO players. Actually it's structure actively pushes away a good majority of them. Yes Pearl Abyss has been taking measures to improve this. But as long as 4+ year old established geared players can ruin the experience of incoming new and returning players. While the game throws these baby seals into the whale pool unable to fend for themselves. All is pretty much nought long term.(I don't mean for long term game life. I mean long term new player retention.) Which is why BDO barely sees any long term boom in player counts.

This is a great point and probably a good part of the BDO business model. It's viable and occurs a lot in the mobile market. Basically tailor your game for new players and take as much money as you can from them until they are burnt out. Then new players will come by and take their place by using marketing strategies. Try to reach a certain % of players who quit by giving them incentives to come back and hope that some of those players buy more things from you. Repeat the process until a year later when they are inactive, delete their accounts because you don't need their business anymore since they'll just be a leech if they come back despite having actually paid money.

BDO has a nice concept to it and you can't really fault them for wanting to revive the idea of Ultima Online and other classic MMOs in 3D form. Unfortunately it's such a niche idea that you can only survive by making it free to play and market it in a way that people will buy overpriced cash shop items.

Personally I think they would do well with PvE servers along with PvP servers and PvPvE servers. It opens up the game for more dedicated fans instead of just people who rage quit over griefers. Sure, PvE doesn't solve griefing but it does make it less stressful to play. Adding PvE servers I think would be beneficial and the marketing would sell itself. "BDO has open world PvE now!"

That's my 2 silver and tbh it doesn't matter what I think might work or not, we all know that even as a collective they won't change their mind until the day they do. My guess is that they will give us instanced grinding that we can pay money for by the hour.

BDO is far from being an old style hardcore game, even with owpvp.

But thanks you for finally recognizing that the success of pure pve is only your opinion.

PVP in the open world on non-arsha servers isn't an issue for people. The outlaw/karma system is so restrictive it ensures this. PA is well aware of the majority of the playerbase that doesn't want to play the game in any meaningful way and just wants to trail off and do random activities in the game with no purpose or end in mind. Just like ghillie suits, this is a non-issue.
