I'VE BEEN SENDING IN MY OPINIONS ON THE TAMER CLASS IN HOPES OF CONVINCING DEVELOPERS TO GIVE ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEM AREAS OF MY FAVORITE CLASS AND THE MAIN REASON I CONTINUE TO PROGRESS AND ENJOY THE GAME OF BLACK DESERT. ALL OPINIONS ARE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A PERSON WHO STRICTLY PVPS IN PVP GAME MODES AND 1V1

 

I HAVE MADE IMPROVEMENTS TO MY GEAR AND WE ALSO REGAINED THE ABILITY TO ENTER RED BATTLEFIELD ON CONSOLE. I ALSO TESTED OUT AWAKEN TAMER PVE FOR A BIT BUT WAS STILL UNDERWHELMED, I'M CERTAIN NOW THAT THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO GRIND GEAR ON A TAMER IS IN SUCCESSION OR BY TAGGING A MORE EFFICIENT OR EASY GRIND CLASS. WE ARE NOW 289/295/336 NOUVER 

 

I WILL ADMIT THAT AWAKENING TAMER IS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE USABLE BUT BECAUSE IT WAS SO BAD FOR SO LONG I CANNOT BRING MYSELF TO USE IT KNOWING BETTER OPTIONS LIKE SAGE/ WITCH/ WIZ/ GUARDIAN/ LAHN/ NOVA/ STRIKER/ SHAI EXIST. 5 OUT OF 8 OF THESE CLASSES I HAVE AT LV 62 INCASE I GET BORED OF GRINDING ON THEM AND WANT TO SWAP TO SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR VARIETY.

 

PROS

THE SIZE INCREASES ARE VERY GOOD FOR PVE AND PVP IT IS MUCH EASIER TO PUNISH SOMEONE WITHOUT GETTING PUNISHED MYSELF OR GETTING MINIMAL REWARD FOR POOR POSITIONING, ESPECIALLY IN A 1V X SENARIO

 

MORE USEFUL OFFENSIVE OPTIONS AND VARIETY

 

CONS

IN THE CURRENTLY PREVAILING DAMAGE META SUPER ARMORS ARE ONLY USEFUL FOR THE CC MITIGATION EFFECTS. MOST OF THE LOW HP POOL CLASSES CAN EASILY BE KILLED THROUGH SUPER ARMOR WITHOUT THE CC.

 

FRONTAL GUARDS ARE 1 SHOTABLE AND ARE VERY WEAK AGAINST CONTINUOUS SKILLS OR AOE CC’S

 

TAMERS NUANCED DEFENSIVE STRATEGY MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO BE USEFUL IN GROUP FIGHTS.

 

SUGGESTIONS

OFFENSE

  1. RESONANCE SHOULD HAVE ITS COOLDOWN REDUCED TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 5-10 SECONDS WE NEED  A RELIABLE WAY TO SWAP FROM AWAKEN TO PRE AWAKEN WHILE IN COMBAT. (RESONANCE + WW SPAM) ONCE PER SKILL ROTATION INSTEAD OF EVERY OTHER. THE SKILL HAS DECENT DAMAGE AGAINST WEAKER TARGETS BUT IS MOSTLY USED FOR PROTECTED QUICK SWAPPING.

  2. AIR LIGHTNING SHOULD BE ACCESSIBLE IN TREE CLIMB, YOU SHOULD ALSO BE ABLE TO SCRATCH OUT OF AIR LIGHTNING AS SUPER ARMOR ISN'T GOING TO STOP A TAMER FROM BEING KILLED ONLY CCD, AND BY NOT BEING CCD WE ATLEAST HAVE A CHANCE TO COUNTER/. INTERRUPT THE OPPONENT OR AT LEAST IFRAME.

  3. SCRATCH SHOULD BE A PRE AWAKEN INSTANT CANCEL SKILL. IT SHOULD BE USABLE LEFT/ FORWARD/ RIGHT AT ALL TIMES AND LEFT/RIGHT SHOULD WORK FROM TREE CLIMB, WW, JUMP, LEAP, TRAMPLE, LBP AND AIR LIGHTING. IT SHOULD HAVE ITS COOLDOWN REDUCED TO 5 SECONDS OR LESS SO IT CAN BE USED TO COVER GAPS MORE OFTEN.

  4. FULL MOON SHOULD BE USABLE AFTER LBD ECHO. IF IT COULD ALSO HAPPEN AFTER BEAST RAMPAGE OR CELESTIAL SLAM, EVEN MORE COMBO CHAINS WOULD OPEN UP.

  5. FEARFUL TREMBLING SHOULD BE SPED UP, SUCH A LONG SUPER ARMOR IN THE CURRENT META ONLY GETS ME KILLED.

  6. CELESTIAL SLAM SHOULD REPLACE ONE OF THE CURRENT CORE SKILLS AND HAVE THE OPTION TO ADD SUPER ARMOR OR SIMPLY BECOME CANCELABLE WITH THE STANDARD AWAKENING CANCELS.

  7. THROAT BURN SHOULD HAVE ITS BUTTONS CHANGED TO SOMETHING CURRENTLY UNUSED ON TAMER LIKE LT+LB TO MAKE THE FRONTAL GUARD IN PRE AWAKENING MORE ACCESSIBLE AND TO REMOVE BUTTON CONFLICT WITH ALL AROUND SPINNER CANCEL



DEFENSE

  1. INCREASE FREQUENCY OF LEAVES AND GUST, IT IS FAR TOO EASY TO WASTE LEAVES/GUST ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE PLAYING DEFENSIVELY, IF YOU GUARD AND IFRAME AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL INSTANT CANCEL BOTH IFRAMES AWAY

  2. PRE AWAKEN NEEDS S-BLOCK, I CONSTANTLY DIE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I'M IN PRE AWAKEN WALKING BACKWARDS WHILE THINKING I AM IN AWAKEN. THROAT BURN IS NOT PARTICULARLY STRONG AND CONFLICTS WITH ALL AROUND SPINNER SWAP, SURGING TIDE IS USABLE BUT ONLY BECAUSE IT'S A FRONTAL GUARD AND A SLOW.SWAPPING THROAT BURN BUTTONS COULD MAKE SKILL MORE ACCESSIBLE.

  3. WHEN GUARD IS HELD BUFF SHOULD APPLY ON SUCCESSFUL BLOCKING OF ATTACK OR AFTER 1 SECOND. WHICHEVER HAPPENS FIRST

  4. SUPER ARMORS IN THE CURRENT META LEAVE MUCH TO BE DESIRED WHEN YOU ARE A SQUISHY ASSASSIN CLASS.

  5. TAMER DEFENSIVE STRATEGY NEEDS TO BE SIMPLIFIED, THERE ARE TOO MANY RULES AND CONDITIONS YOU MUST KNOW TO DEFEND YOURSELF ADEQUATELY AND IN CURRENT META SUPER ARMOR IS USELESS WHILE FRONTAL GUARDING AS A STRATEGY IS EASILY OUTPLAYED. OUR DEFENSE IS SPLIT FAIRLY EVENLY BETWEEN ALL 3  BUT ONLY IFRAMES ARE TRULY USEFUL IN THE CURRENT HIGH DAMAGE META. IF CORSAIR ANCHOR, ARCHER BIG ARROWS, ZERKER SHOTS, SORC GRJ, MUSA BIG SWEEP, DK SEA OF PURPLE HIT MY SUPER ARMOR OR FRONTAL GUARD, I USUALLY DIE THROUGH THE DEFENSIVE STRATEGY I WAS APPLYING AND IN SPECTACULAR FASHION.

  6. DASH> JUMP PRIORITY

  7. WW> SPRINT PRIORITY

  8. SWAPPING TO AWAKENING SHOULD ALWAYS BE FG(PULLING OUT A STICK… PARRY…)






DOG:

  1. IN PLACES LIKE RBF AND BA DOG SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY BE SUMMONED IF I AM ALIVE. IT'S ANNOYING TO FIGHT THEN DIE AND BEFORE EVERY FIGHT SUMMON DOG AND CHOOSE ATTACK MODE. GENERAL NUISANCE 

  2. I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DISTINGUISH MY DOG FROM SOMEONE ELSE'S AT A GLANCE AND I SHOULD ALSO HAVE A DOG ICON ON MY BAR SHOWING ME IF I CURRENTLY HAVE MY DOG SUMMONED. IT IS NOT EASY TO VISUALLY CONFIRM WHOS DOG IS WHERE MID COMBAT OR IN A LARGE SCALE SITUATION.

  3. DOGS STANDARD MODE UPON SUMMONING SHOULD BE ATTACK.

  4. DOG ATTACK STANCE SHOULD BE CONTROLLABLE VIA SKILL USAGE.I BELIEVE MOONLIGHT STRIKE SHOULD TRIGGER ANY SUMMONED HEILANG INTO ATTACK MODE. IF NOT TRIGGERED FROM A SPECIFIC SKILL LIKE MOONLIGHT A ATTACK MODE SELECTION SHOULD PERSIST AS A BUFF ON THE BUFF BAR FOR A SIGNIFICANT PERIOD OF TIME.MAYBE EVEN PERSIST THROUGH DEATH,

  5. DOG SHOULD BE SWITCHED INTO DEFENSIVE MODE UPON BLOCKING AND HOLDING FOR 2-3 SECONDS

  6. HEILANG: HOWLING SHOULD BE 50%+ FASTER ANIMATION WITH QUICK ANIMATIONS INTO AWAKEN CANCEL SKILLS

  7. IDEA 1:THERE SHOULD BE A HEILANG QUICK MOUNT SKILL THINK QUICKMOUNT+MOONLIGHT (THINK THE CURRENT RIDING DASH + QUICKMOUNT)AND QUICKMOUNT HEILANG THEN CLOUDSTOMPING(LIKE A SUPER OSHIT RUN AWAY BUTTON)

  8. IDEA 2: MAYBE A POSITION CHANGE WITH HEILANG SKILL IF I WAS ABLE TO SEND HEILANG TO A LOCATION THEN SWAP PLACES WITH HIM THAT COULD BE REALLY COOL AND FUN




IN GENERAL I MOST OFTEN GET KILLS LIKE THIS:

OPENING CC OR GRAB

ENGAGE/DEBUFF

INTIMIDATION SWAP/ REFLOAT

BEAST RAMPAGE +CELESTIAL

IF NEED MORE DOWN SMASHES, TURTLE ECHO, SOARING STRIKE.

THEN RUN ASAP AFTER KILL.

 

TAMER IS GREATLY HELD BACK BY THE CLUNKINESS OF HER MOVEMENT ABILITIES AND THE CANCELS YOU HAVE TO PERFORM  QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY TO MOVE EFFECTIVELY. NOT TO MENTION IF YOUR GOAL IS DISTANCE TRAVELED YOU WILL HAVE TO ROTATE YOUR CAMERA TO CERTAIN POSITIONS TO CONTINUE COVERING GROUND WITH SIDE DASHES.. 

 

THIS COMBINED WITH NO ACTUAL FULLY PROTECTED COMBOS WITH LINGERS MEANS ANY HALFWAY DECENT RANGED CLASS WITH HALF A BRAIN CAN WATCH ME AND INTERRUPT ME WITH A WELL TIMED ABILITY OR CAN JUST RAPID FIRE AND FORCE A MISTAKE WHILE I'M TRYING TO DEFEND MYSELF.

 

1VX IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT BECAUSE A TAMER GETTING A KILL IN GROUP FIGHTS IS LIKE ROBBING A BANK. RIGHTFULLY SO, BUT NO INVIS OR IFRAME SPAM MEANS YOU WILL 100% SEE ME COMING AND UNLESS MY IFRAME TIMING IS PERFECT I WILL TAKE SEVERE DAMAGE, GET CCD OR EVEN KILLED. IF I HAD TO ENGAGE YOU FROM RANGE MY CLOUD STOMPING IS MOST LIKELY DOWN SO IF I WIFF OR EVEN GET THE KILL MY MOST LIKELY WAY OUT WILL BE SOME COMBINATION OF TREE CLIMB/WW/LEAVES/GUST. HOWLING IS COMPLETELY UNUSABLE IN PVP SINCE REWORK, THE LACK OF PROTECTIONS AND SPEED OF ABILITY 99% OF THE TIME GET YOU KILLED. SO YOU BASICALLY JUST GO FOR THE POLE VAULT DASH GRAB ENGAGE. IF YOU CAN'T ASSASSINATE THEM OFF THAT, THEN YOU SHOULD JUST HIDE AND WAIT TILL SOMEONE STEPS JUST FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THEIR TEAM TO SNEAK IN AND FINISH THEM OFF. USUALLY AFTER I DIVE + CC ANY ENEMY RANGE CAN EASILY PEEL ME OFF THEIR CCD TEAMMATE WITH A SINGLE ATTACK AND TURN THE FIGHT DRAMATICALLY IN THEIR FAVOR

 

 THE THING I MISS THE MOST ABOUT THE OLD DOG WAS WAITING FOR A STANDOFF/STAREDOWN PART OF A FIGHT THEN USING HOWLING AND ATTACKING MY OPPONENT UNDER COVER OF THE HEILANG TELEPORTING IN AND DOING HIS STIFFNESS ATTACK (MOST PEOPLE WOULD ONLY REACT TO DOG ATTACKING) SO I GOT A FREE DISTRACTION. I WAS HOPING WITH THE REWORK I WOULD BE ABLE TO DO THIS FAR MORE OFTEN BUT THE WAY THE SKILL WORKS NOW MAKES IS ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THE SKILL THE WAY IT USED TO BE.

 

THE START OF THE HEILANG HOWLING ANIMATION LASTS TOO LONG AND CANNOT BE CANCELED FAST ENOUGH TO CHASE DOWN THE DOG AND APPLY A SECOND CC. STIFFNESS IS ONLY 1.5 SEC DURATION. SO HOWLING NEEDS TO BE CANCELABLE IN LESS THAN .5 SECONDS FOR ME TO HAVE 1 SECOND TO FOLLOW UP. MAKE IT INSTANT CANCELABLE WITH LBP/ MOONLIGHT/CLOUDSTOMPING/LEAVES /GUST/GUARD SO THAT I CAN STOP AS SOON AS DOG MOVEMENT STARTS. SO THAT I CAN  MOVE TO THE ACTION LOCATION WITHIN THE CC WINDOW AND FOLLOW UP ON THE LONG RANGE ENGAGE.
