A Beginners Guide To Black Desert Workers

Hey adventurer, in this guide I will explain the basics of how workers work, what they can do, and the differences between the different types.

This guide will teach you the basics of workers and will not go in depth about all the different worker skills they learn when leveling up. This guide aims to teach new players the basics of workers.

This guide consists of the following chapters:
1. How do I get a worker?

2. What types of workers are there and what are their differences?

3. What work can my worker do and how can I assign tasks to my worker?

4. How do I take care of my workers?

1. How do I get a worker?

Getting a worker is the first step to building a worker empire, each city comes with 1 free worker slot. If you want more than 1 worker in a city you can increase this amount by renting a house as Lodging in the city.

To get a worker simply navigate to the Work Supervisor of the city you want the worker to be based in and select Contract Workers. This will randomly roll a worker for you to hire, each roll costs 5 Energy. When you see a worker you like you can hire him for a one time payment. I suggest only hiring Skilled and above workers to start with.

The location where you hire the worker dictates the city he operates from, the worker will use the storage of the city he operates from when taking or delivering items.

2. What type of workers are there and what are their differences?

there are many different types of workers, some of them are locked to a specific region, the 3 types that are available in most of the world are Goblins, Humans and Giants.

In Kamasylvia you have Papu and Fadus workers. The Papu workers act like Goblins, while Fadus workers are a combination of Human and Giant workers.

The Goblin is the fastest worker, they reach their destination fast and do their work fast, but they also have the lowest stamina and bring in less materials from gathering each trip.

The Giant workers are the slow workers, they reach their destination the slowest and aren't fast in their work. They do however have the most stamina and can carry more gathered resources each trip.

The Human workers is a bit of a mix between the two others, they have average speed and average stamina, but they have the highest luck stat.

These types of workers all have multiple tiers, with a higher tier meaning better stats and more stamina. Workers also have a level, the level will increase their stats and randomly give them skills. When a worker has reached level 10 they can try to promote to a higher tier, this can be done 3 times for each worker. (once on level 10, once on level 20, once on level 30)

The tiers are the following:

Naive (white) -> Normal (green) -> Skilled (blue) -> Professional (yellow) -> Artisan (orange)

3. What can my worker do and how can I assign tasks to my worker??

Workers can do some simple tasks for you such as gathering items, farming items, protecting your farm, or crafting items.

Gathering items from gathering or farm nodes.

If you want to use your worker to collect certain items for you, you can send him to a gathering node.

These are nodes spread over the map that allow for worker gathering once they're activated by linking them to a main city.

To send a worker to work, simply open your map once you've linked the nodes to a city, click on the production node and then click on the worker activity, this will open up a menu where you can select your worker to work on the node. Simply click the Start Work button and your worker will run from the city towards the node, collect the resources you selected, and put the resources in the storage of city where he is hired from.

Protecting farms

When placing down a fence to farm your own crops, your plants might need care from you, you can send a worker if you want your plants to grow without having to take care of them yourself. To do this, simply open up the farm fences interface by clicking the button on the top left, then click the small worker icon to assign a worker to your fence. He will now take care of your farm as long as he has stamina, giants are the best for this task.

Crafting items

a worker can use a workshop in a city to craft certain items for you, in order to use this feauture you must first rent a workbench in a city, open the map and select a workshop you wish to use, and hire it using Contribution Points. Once you own the workshop, click on the little house on the map to open up the house's interface.

Select your owned workshop and click the Manage Crafting button. this will open up a crafting interface, first select the item you wish to craft, then select a worker who is connected to the city of the workshop, after which you can start crafting.

The worker will take the required items for crafting from the storage of the city he is hired from, walk them to the workshop, and deliver the crafted to the storage of the city he is hired from.

4. How do I take care of my workers?

Workers need stamina to do their job, you can refill their stamina bar by giving them certain foods or drinks, the most common and easily available being Grilled Bird Meat.

When you have the worker stamina recovering food in your inventory open the Worker List and click the Recover All button, this will allow you to feed all your workers in just  a few clicks.

If you have a few workers on chicken farms near Velia you will have enough chicken meat to cook Grilled Bird Meat for all your other workers,

the recipe is simple, 2 chicken meat, 6 deep frying oil, 2 cooking wine and 1 salt, everything except the chicken meat can be bought from an innkeeper.

With this you should have the knowledge to set up your first few workers to make life a little easier in the world of Black Desert. Good luck in your future adventures.
