It seems to have gotten worse since I started playing again about a week ago. On normal paths, it's leading me into the side of mountains and walls, Constantly messing up rerouting, and taking cornerns/getting stuck on a large amount of terrain.
Note as I said normal paths, I'm not talking about starting the path in the wilderness somewhere, I'm talking about starting it on the actual road.
I've really only noticed it so much now because I'm running everywhere instead of using a horse for season. Obviously there are some problem spots that have existed for a while like in the places with a lot of thin staircases, but these problems are happing on wide paths.
The faster you go, the more broken it gets. This also applies to boats.
What you can do to help it are two things...
1. In the autopath settings in the game, set it to accurate and not smooth.
2. Don't use auto-sprint for horse and boat
Autopath was originally designed for a certain max speed but it has since gotten faster. Not sure why they don't fix it but they seem to refuse to.
I thought I've seen worse. But looking at almost the last screenshot of Tooshaitopost showed me a "masterpiece". Can I draw a picture of it? :D
It really exceeded my expectations...
Seriously now. This autopathing was like that from the time I got in the game.
This is artwork created by BDO-AI. It uses the latest pathfinding technology to create its artwork where you are the paint and the world is its canvas!
"I am paint and the world is my canvas."
Sounds like something from the self-help book section :)
iam on auto pathing in caphelon on my route i used for more then 50 hourses, and its broken now.
the game shortens my path. so i was setting a new route and the whole track got shorten by 40% in less then 30 minutes.
mega annoying and make leveling horses a total nightmare if not done active.
That it is!
It's silly that PA adds auto-sprinting, yet it's completely unusable unless you're only going an absolute straight path.
the auto path just one problem you also have the people that just want to mess with you and put stuff in the way so you get stuck
Since the last patch on the 2022-08-11, the autopath navigation has gotten considerably worse.
Paths that I've taken many times in the past, now I see characters getting stuck on corners, doorways, posts, rocks.
Characters, mounts and boats now insist on circling back past where you are before following the path to the objective.
When riding along, I've seen the navigation line waver and shift all over the ground (and minimap) until it decides to stay, but then you find your horse headed for rocks that it was previously going to ride around.
This was noted in the known issues on the same patch.
● Following a looped auto-path with the following settings causes the distance of the auto-path to decrease.
- Settings > Navigation Path Setting: Land > Smooth
Admittedly I've seen this issue a few months back, but it feels like someone tried to fix this but couldn't, and instead made things worse.
My least favorite place to navigate.
From Awina's Tail to Khmut Lumber Camp. Navigation insisits on going all the way around Tshira Ruins.

Not just that, the game itself does that too, best example is Valencia city: all roads are full of Npcs doing nothing, not moving at all, which deliberately slows us down, and, if unlucky stopps us too. Also looks terrible since all the "statues" in our way kill the feeling of a "living city", which Valencia should be.
In the German forum there is a similar thread like this one, where i posted a link to a video that helps understanding how the pathfinding works (or not) it's called Voxel Navigation, watch between minute 41:02 and 44:52.
