Black Desert will begin in a moment.

Install the Black Desert Launcher if the game doesn't start.

Install the Black Desert Launcher to start the game.

The launcher will appear if it's installed.
If it doesn't, try to run your downloaded launcher.

Install Guide

1 Run BlackDesert_Installer_NAEU.exe to install the Black Desert launcher.

2 Start the game once installation is complete.

I redesigned the pet manager (with graphics!)

The pet system is OK but it could be better. The biggest flaw is there are so many different ways you can have pet groups due to different life skills and combat needs that the default 5 groups isn't enough. With this re-design concept, I am hopefully that it can inspire the devs to kinda work towards a better and improved pet system.

Kindly note that I placed a lot of placeholder stuff in there since I had to design the whole thing from the ground-up, wasn't really interested in remaking the icons.


PETS LIST

Let's first start with the initial pet list page. As you can see there's no more pets that you aren't using, only the ones that you are. Less clutter! Pet groups are also known on the right which is a manager of sorts. We'll get to that in a bit.

At the bottom of Pets list, you can see a infographic about what your pets will do for you in total. In this case, +8% Combat XP etc...


Management Button

If you open the context menu on a group, this menu shows up. Pretty self-explanatory


Managing Group button / New group

Now the fun part, managing your group! Select a pet you would like to throw in the group or remove the pet from the group. This can be achieved either by context menu button or a dedicated button. Perhaps there could be a Pet group name there or maybe it can just be renamed after the fact. Either way, it gives the flexibility of pretty much an unlimited amount of pet groups. There could also be buttons to buy more pets directly from this menu as well, they could even be icons with a price tag.

While I kinda rushed to make this design (only had an hour to spend on it) I'm hoping that this can be inspirational as the pet menu is pretty frustrating to use at the moment. What do you guys think? Better? Worse? How can it be improved? Thank you for your time!

It's certainly better than what we have now. Another thing that I've thought that they should add to the pet manager UI is a filter for skills and talents. That way, you could find every pet with a trade XP or hunting XP or combat XP or whatever all at once without having to dig for them.

Excellent point! I'm out today so I will revise the UI again later and upload the changes based on your suggestion. I'm more than willing to make alterations based on people's feedback. I doubt the devs will ever see it but we could at least dream lol
