they said that when they released the 28th slot 28 is max and no plans to increase

28 is not max
we can assume that there is no expansion, but still a good idea to address as the "at this time" wording is there. most like 29th slot comes with 29th class

Today I learned not everyone has a character slot dedicated to new seasons, I just transfer the gear out to an alt and delete the slot for the neext new season.
I wouldn't delete a character until the day of, in case a slot does open up. Starting a day late to the new season doesn't hurt, you've got plenty of time to do everything in a season.

a little hint for you- if i said the 30th slot is most likely going to come with the 30th class doesn't mean i said there is 29 classes.
