Title: Steamdeck/Linux Support
Family Name:
MadMarv

Region (NA/EU): EU

Suggestion/Comments:
Can the current anti cheat version and game be patched, so people can enjoy BDO on linux? With linux gaming on the rise this would be one of the few MMOs that run on linux and especially on steamdeck. Depending on how this game is coded, it is really easy or really hard to implement this change. I just want to know, if there is any possibility for linux support.

This is pretty cool, but I would probably stick to a remote desktop session on steam deck since it uses fewer resources, and if I lose internet for a second or few hours then my game doesn't close. It should also result in longer battery life.

Steamdeck compatibility is just one argument for implementing linux support. I am a developer who runs linux daily and I know a lot of BDO players in the same line of work, who would greatly prefer being able to play on linux directly. Being forced to run windows to be able to play BDO is kind of sad...

Yes please. Currently having to play using GPU passthrough into a Windows VM. It worked flawlessly for a while, but I think a recent update with EAC started rebooting the vm half the time for whatever reason. Probably detecting its in a vm. Would love to remove the hassle and play BDO in Linux natively.

Not sure what the hold up is with PA. I hear there are two different versions of EAC with one of the non-Steam version not being compatible with Linux. That's the only reason I could think of causing them not to run it natively on Linux.

Yes please. I recently got a Steam Deck and haven't been able to get BDO to run on it because I don't want to install Windows OS on that device.

I would very much love proton support for BDO and EAC and a full controller support as well.

Yes please,
I stopped playing a while ago because booting windows was just too much effort to play the game, I would love to come back once linux is -at least partially- supported.

Even simply removing the few blockers that currently prevents proton emulation would be enough.

I wanted to try the game again with the new class release, but it's a shame we can´t play on Linux in 2022 neither with proton or SteamDeck.

Bump. This thread also makes unique and valid points about Proton compatibility. SteamDeck has been blowing up and getting this up and running should be trivial. https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/steamdeck/proton

Steam and the Linux community in general have made such a massive effort to make adding compatibility as smooth as possible, so please just do us this one very small favor and enable EAC to let us run your game.

Bump! Would love to play BDO again, but not willing to go back to windows just for one game.
