Family Name: LMelo

Region (NA/EU): EU

can we get dyes through alchemy, even if it was hard to craft we would have a chance to obtain or weekly quests with rng box.

It was the first purpose of Kermes insects but PA saw the money they could get from it so they got rid of it.

Would be great to have that back on! Not only for dyes but also for alchemy recipes and knowledges!

Also, it wouldn't be a big loss for PA since the colors are individuals and useable once... And the people used to have VP won't stop using VP for all the others advantages it gives. (I know I won't)

PA, be a little bit less restrictive plz? 🙃

The issue here is, most people who are end-game probably get the VP because of the dye. It's the main attraction for it so would they really be willing to part away with this? Maybe not. Not unless there was money to be made through this system because as we all know, F2P players are just leeches and cost them money. Imagine if you will that each player costs $2/month. The actual value is unknown but players who don't put money into the machine has to be obtained somewhere, hence why we see $32 costumes.

BUT they probably could release dyes with the bleach system still in place, which forces players to buy bleach to remove the dye. Remember that you cannot use merv over top of non-merv dyed gear. This or they only release basic colors since a lot of MMOs that are F2P like BDO tend to have premium colors for a premium fee. If they did that without a bleach system then people will continue to use the VP regardless but those who are purely F2P will get some variety in colors. Maybe psychologically this would entice players to take it to the next level with a VP? I don't know, it's hard to tell without sample groups.

It's puzzling, I'm sure they want to do something with this system but are confused on where to go. Once you make a decision it's hard to change it.

I hope this thread will get noticed. Being able to dye your costumes should be more accessible than it is right now. Wouldn't it be cool to get random red dyes from colleting blood, blue dyes from fishing, brown dyes from lumbering etc.? It would also make lifeskilling more enjoyable!

There was a loophole but the new Balenos storyline put an end to it.  I watched a video where you create a Shai because they come into the game at  Professional Gathering level.  You quickly level it up to 20 (which use to be simple) took about 10 or 12 minutes. Then you get the quest for gathering from a shai in Heidel and they give you a free dye.  Delete the shai wait 24 hours, repeat, and get another free dye each day.   The dye is an ugly bland color, you mix 2 dyes and get a random color.  15 random dyes per month.  But like I said, I think it can no longer be done (fast) with the new opening.

I just buy the dye from the Central  Market.  They come in here and there, you need a lot of silver invested in all the colors of the land.

Have fun!

In my opinion, the entire dyeing system needs a rework. While it is still possible to not rely on VP to dye your outfits, you still need to rely on RNG and god knows how many of those 50 cents dye box you have to buy to get the exact shade of color and the variant you want, not to mention possibly doing that for the amount of dye slots your outfits have. Maybe adding a system seperate from Merv's Palete where you could dye your outfits as you want it and pay for it once like a one-time appearance change coupon with the price scaling with how many dye slots are there in the outfits you dyed? And every time you change the dyes you pay for it again for how many slots that you changed the dyes. This way people don't have to rely on RNG just to simply dye outfits permanently, but value pack users will still retain the advantages of being able to change dye colors any time for free with Merv's Palete. (and dyeing with Merv's Palete would obviously delete the existing normal dyes that you might have previously paid for, or need to bleached first, which you need to buy bleaches to do so). I think that is a reasonable compromise.

Dye system needs a rework for sure. I customize my characters a lot. And yet, I never considered dye again after understanding how they work.  I've seen just so many new players using a dye or two and then find out they can't remove it without paying for bleeaches. They then try Value Pack for the merv palette only to realize they can't use it on dyed piece. So you have two conflicting systems where to use the temporary one you'll actually need to buy something else which will remove the permanent one entirely. Making the whole dye system completely useless if you ever intend to use merv palette from time to time. And since the dye are for the most part based on RNG even when you buy them, it's complicated since you'll likely need the same one for half the slots on your outfit. Meaning you're likely to have to buy alot of those to get those you needt. Maybe more depending on the style you want.  It is a very very heavy system that simply doesn't fit in.

- Merv should be able to overwrite any color for the length of its duration. Base or dye. Making both system complementary for those who use merv for a part of the year and base/dye color at other times. So people have an incentive to invest in both system.

- Should be able to acquire dye of a specific color in a more reliable way. In particular for when you actually need multiple of them for the style you're looking for.

- Add ways to obtain them as suggested by LDark

- Also like Akinyaa's idea of a one-time appearance change like coupon. Though, I disagree with the idea of merv palette deleting any paid dyes. All paid system should be complementary and not delete the other.

Could also set up a weekly quest for each region that is a kill or gathering quest to get a single local dye, so in Olvia would be limited to the Hawks or Herb gathering, Velia would be Imps, wolves etc or Ash Tree's. 1 Dye a week at random would not be much but could still make use of the swap system without abusing the character recreation and free dye glitch which is more hassle than its worth.

1. If I buy a dye from the pearl shop, I should be able to choose the color. I never walk into JC Penny and ask them for just a dress, "What color? Oh it doesnt' matter! Salmon pink and lime green? I will take it.".

2. If I am allowed to create dye, mixing of certain ingredients should produce a non random color.

3. Mixing standard colors of two dyes should produce an honest mix of those 2 dyes and not a random color.

4. The Value Pack (VP) should be able to stand on it's own merits and not be a hook for another system they already sell as a seperate item.

5. If they were to drop Merv's palette from the VP, they could lower the cost of both the VP and Merv's increasing their revenues to those who would buy both.  I assume most players buying the VP, do so for the buffs, and not the dye job.
