Magnus graphics and music are epic and very fun. But the teleportation system as a whole is a pass, only useful for Valencia and maybe Kamasylvia. It can even be dangerous.

To teleport with Magnus, you need to:

1. Travel to a well.

2. Leave any party.

3. Long cutscene.

4. Walk around Magnus and find the right portal.

5. If you forgot silver, you have to go out and try again.

6. Cutscene

7. TWO loading screens. There's a high chance you will teleport to the desktop instead, crashes have reportedly surged since the Magnus update.

8. If you survived everything else, there's a THIRD cutscene!

9. Now you have to somehow find back your party, who probably found a replacement on LFG, and travel to your destination.

Is this PA's idea of "fast" travel? For most destinations it's literally faster AND safer to ride there... When you arrive to the well there must be an immediate choice of portal, perhaps one cutscene with that cool spinning symbol, and then poof arrive at destination. Or at least fix the crashes on loading screens...

It's made complicated so traveling by horse is still be the main traveling option!

The only sensible travel system is: fast travel to any node (free of course, or for some symbolic amount of 100k, not 20m).

I've mostly forgotten that it exists.  Occasionally I come across one of the entrance wells in the course of other questing, and think back on the time when I tried using them and decided it wasn't worth it.

I was doing one of the adventure logs, and hopping around the map using wells.  In the course of that I started thinking that I wanted a travel accounting system to track how much I had paid, vs how much time I saved - or added.  And then I started thinking about frequent traveler discounts.  And then I just stopped.

They made it that long so horses don't become obsolete for those short one town over trips

I haven't used the Magnus yet because it's slower than riding my Peggy over a mountain unless I'm going from Valencia all the way to grana it's slower.

I don't think they made it to speed up the game.

I think they made it so they can teleport us to other part of the map for new region only.. 

Especially since they give up for sea content entirely

Well, personally, I have no interest in paying the silver. For my alts, I can usually just use the transport function for when I need to move them around, and for my main (and my main gatherer), I just ride around on my dream horses, which is fast enough that the silver cost of the Magnus makes no sense whatsoever. If it were free, I expect that I'd use it far more, but the game crashes so frequently for me on loading screens right now that going through the Magnus is actively risky like the OP is complaining about. Also, the limitations on trade items (even the stuff you get from gathering) significantly limits its utility for me anyway, because too frequently, I have something like that on me - and in the case of my main, I purposefully try to always have some on me in the hopes that if I die, those are what's going to break instead of my crystals.

For the most part, I forget that the "fast travel" even exists. Assuming that it connects to the new continent when we finally get that (and presumably, it will), I'll probably end up using it then, since that would be significantly faster than even my carrack, but at this point, IMHO, the only valuable feature to have come with the Magnus is Universal Storage, which is an absolute game changer. The fast travel is just too annoying, expensive, and risky to bother with normally.

Each channel swap there are 2 loading screens, log out loading screen and on the new server log in loading screen. Magnus is hosted on Marni server.

When using the Magnus first you swap onto the Marni server and then back to your original server. That's why there are 4 loading screens.

It's probably intended.
