Summary: Increase the maximum allowable distance for rendering objects and terrain with improved LOD AND/OR Fade in distant objects and terrain as they enter the render threshold.
It would be great if both the physical 'pop-in' of objects and terrain, as well as the transition of low-res textures to high-res textures was handled a bit more eloquently. Some classes of objects, such as mountains, or large terrain features would benefit from transitioning to a higher LOD further away. Smaller objects could benefit from a fade-in approach or both.
It might be an idea to merge this and the "Re-Remastered" suggestion. An improvement here is overdue imho and I am under the impression that LOD used to be better in the past and even got downgraded rather than improved.
But that's not the way that evolution works, especially in the tech/gaming sector. You want to sell worse for better to your customers? They will move on to the competition sooner or later.

It wasn't an issue until they changed it last year or whatever. Then it became really bad especially the distant stuff is pretty horrible now. I dont know why they made it worse overnight.
