I believe this weekly quest is so silly 
if Valtarra's memory only drops from tanning the Ferrina and Ferrica why do I have to kill other monsters in Navarn steppe 

I would suggest changing the quest task to Obtain more than 3000 or 5000 soft Ferri feather

or make it drops from other monsters normally in the Navarn Steppe
because it's so ridiculous that I only had to kill 65 birds just to finish the tanning task
after this, I had to run to the wolves to get the 3000 kills but I lost my chances to get it even if I did it only 2-3h per week

I have an even better suggestion.. How about PA just gives away both pots whenever you create a new char? Why do they have to make us work to earn those treasures smh...

On a serious note, be glad that you even have those weeklies to work with. Others had to grind for thousands of hours to drop that piece. Besides, this is a weekly quest, you don't have to do it in one go, 7 days are plenty of time to finish it.

The number of feathers needs to be higher. I dont know the correct number, but all of the other pity piece weeklies take about an hour on a seasonal char- so the number of feathers needed should probably be the amount that PA thinks that an attentive player with a reasonable amount of buff/gathering drop rate buffs can collect in roughly an hour. 

Also it would be good to add this as a second, mutually exclusive weekly quest path instead of changing the current quest- maybe some people realllly hate skinning(or have no energy cap) and would prefer the current kill quest.

But I agree, ~an hour of skinning and having chances to loot pity or ancient loot pieces would be far more enjoyable and in line with the other weeklies than skinning for a few minutes and then senselessly murdering feather wolfs for an hour.. or skinning for 3 hours

They didnt have to, all of the reasonable people saw the math and just continued using consumable pots lol

Unfortunately it seems a lot of people, especially new players convinced themselves that the treasure pots are somehow mandatory and PA in turn watered down the novelty and bragging rights of owning them 🤷‍♂️

but thats a seperate subject from suggesting that one of the weeklies a brought more in line with the others

or they can just delete the feather requirement. that seems more in line and no ones mental will boom because of a weird mini requirement when the real quest is the 3k mobs

Well you have two options.

Option 1 Kill the few birds you need then kill wolves for the speed of being done in just 2-3 hours solo. Faster if you party up to kill count share.

Option 2 Kill pretty much only birds and tan every single one of the 3000 required. Takes you 2-3 days to complete the task then.

I managed 1000 ferrica's killed and tanned in a single day you might manage more or less. I then did this for 6 weeks before getting a full drop at 81 pity pieces.

So up to you and the design is fine you can choose to kill and tan the 3000 ferrica's or you can choose to make money killing griffons and that is it. The world is your oyster.

So basically in option 1 you'll lose the chance to get it while processing it own quest
so what i'm suggesting is make it related to the weekly quest by doing this
make it drop from the normal kills or removed the kills from the quest 
make it drop from tanning all the monsters in navern steppe or make it only ferricas and ferrinas and elephants

WHAT I MEAN IS MAKE THE WEEKLY QUEST RELATED TO THE ITEM SOMEHOW!!

This is the worst weekly, it just takes a ridiculous amount of time to complete.

I'm personally convinced that some intern messed up the coding and flipped the requirements, and that it was meant to be "Obtain 3,000 feathers" and "Kill 500 Ferrinas."  It takes like 2 minutes to obtain 500 feathers, like OP pointed out, but killing 3,000 mobs while I'm tanning takes about 5 hours. All the other potion weeklies can be completed inside of 1 hour.

This is busted and needs to be fixed. It currently makes no sense, and this one piece is responsible for turning almost everybody off the Inf. Mana grind entirely.

The quest is designed for tanning 500 feathers and killing the rest of the mobs. In that way, it's in line with the other weeklies.

Personally, I alternated between tanning and killing and tried to be done in no more than 3 hours each week.
