Title: The forgotten system that is Training and Wagons, Please give us an update!

Family Name: Eirianne

Region: NA

Dear PA, I would like to begin by saying that BDO is built on an exceptional foundation that appeals to so many people. However, some systems did not get an update in some time and this is my pitch in hopes that attention can be brought back to the Training and Wagon systems.

While I would like to say there have been nice updates for horse trainers, there hasn't been much of anything except T10 Arduanat and T10 Dine. Where's the T10 Doom? There's no donkey breeding, camel breeding, elephant breeding, there are no grana choco-- i mean giant chicken mounts, there's no alpaca breeding or taming, donkuanatt was already made and teased but never released and the training system has been dumbed down to the point that you can catch a horse with your nose. Not that I'm complaining because it's great for people with disabilities though I feel like the mini-game is really not great at all to begin with.

I don't want to sound annoyed but we've been waiting for a very long time to see these horse expansion updates that you promised years ago. We want it.

Here's another big deal... Forest path wagon upgrades are prohibitively expensive and without the ability to cron or force enhance, it's not worth the attempts. Up to now, no one has ever sold a +10 and only 1 person has ever sold a +9 and only 5 sold for +8 in all time for the wheel and this is just the wheel! There are 0 yes ZERO sales for the +10 for ANY part. For dramatic effect, take a look at this thread requesting changes back in April 2022.

The stonetail wind's meal is also annoying to get because you have two options to obtain this. Either you race or you get it from events. The problem is, you can't ever queue for races, it's difficult. Right now there's 3,685 pre-orders at max price and only 12,799 stonetail meals were ever sold. Something is needed to deal with this. Fiery Celerity draught is also in the same boat which again, nobody races so you can't really get it.

Training level doesn't have a purpose for awakening T9 and T10 horses which doesn't make any sense to me. But this shouldn't be based on training mastery since you can just buy mastery gear. Leveling training is a very involved process which makes it a very difficult lifeskill to level but there's not much benefit for the time spent doing so. You can't really level from AFK training, this is like AFK leveling your sailing, it can happen but it would take a long time to do outside the first few levels. I'm not complaining so much about this but it's just that if you require players to commit themselves to capturing horses, give us a bit of a reward for all that effort for leveling our training level. There are small perks like % of learning a new skill which increases or whatever but it would be really nice to be able to get a slight buff to T9 and T10 awakening based on training level.

Mythical feathers are also difficult and expensive to obtain, so it would really be nice to add a perk to training level for at least getting a % increase in awakening. Maybe also add another way to obtain mythical feathers? wink wink....

One good change that was implemented was the time on making the forest pathwagon registration and parts, and the amount of pieces of images earned when crafting is no longer RNG and was set to 150.

Horse training, trading and the whole wagon system can easily be one of the more enjoyable things to do in the game if it were improved and a more rewarding experience.

Perhaps I missed many things but I just wanted to start the conversation and talk about the elephant horse in the room. What do you guys think? What needs the most attention here? Are there anything that I missed and should include (with credit of course)?

PS:

You can't filter the horse market by horse / Donkey. To find donkey you need to select [All] as they won't appear in Tier 1. This means you have to scroll through dozens of pages until you find a donkey! We should also be able to sell other mounts but of course, once we can breed them which we ALL want to see happen. Well, we don't want to visually watch them breed but you know what I mean....

Additionally, you cannot use the Magnus with anything but a horse! What I mean by that is that you can only teleport your horse whenever you use Magnus. See this thread for details: https://www.naeu.playblackdesert.com/en-US/Forum/ForumTopic/Detail?_topicNo=30813&_opinionNo=0

+100%! Training, Trading, Bartering... All based on wonderful ideas that were swiftly left behind.

I remember when this game released the horse taming/breeding system was the very first thing that captured the imaginations of me and my friends. If you could breed 7 tiers of horses, each with their own unique look based on the genetics of the parents, and a whole skill system to boot...? What would we be breeding/taming 5 years down the line? Elephants, camels, chocobos, wolves, bears, griffons, dragons... The list goes on and on.

And yet here we are 7 years later, no elephant or camel mechanics, tier 1-5 horses no longer exist, and we're feeding the rest to the horse gods ^^; The system was vastly dumbed down rather than expanded upon.

PA opted out of those things, the trend is maintanance mode, focus on classes and grinding.

Sometimes they throw a bone to a random lifeskill but nothing too crazy, like ORCs, CENTAUR, HEXE.

Might be just my impression tho.

Because people that don't train can't be left out. So T9, T10, Imperial steeds and even horse taming has been buldozed into the ground. As for coats and stats and all that? Ahaha. Yeah, nah! Buy 10k Mount Skill Change Coupons, get your T9s, then grit your teeth for a T10 and flex.

Further on, Trading was streamlined to the point where there's no danger on desert trading, what with the Trade Wagons and all, the requirement for it has been dumbed down silly, but the level requirement for the Desert Buff is still in place. Add to that the fact that profession can't hold a candle to scooping water and we're getting somewhere. (Well, not right now, as maegu's fire charms burned that option out a bit).

Wagons? Hahaha! The hardest to get wagon in the game has its geometry shafted hard. Did you check the way the wheels spin? Rushed stuff is rushed. Also, they still have the same, buggy-as-hell, movement, with the first row of horses being obviously tacked on, no backwards movement, no proper snapping to slopes, no wheel spinning, no f**ks given.

MOST-IMPR-OVED-GAME.

You know, since racing seemed to be an attempt at giving some purpose/contest to the training lifeskill, they should really take another look at it. If they had the ability to implement open world events rather than sequester every side activity into a queued instance, then they could just create racing events that would randomly appear on roads in select places for players to participate in while they're out and about.

Wouldn't do much to make the content any less dead, but at least it would feel like a part of the open world. It's hard to get new players interested in content that's buried behind a convoluted UI.

I think it's how it used to be, before the they introduced their Old Moon Racing which, itself, is 1) a rigged game - the catch up mechanic made to compensate for the engine's shortcomings makes the whole thing pointless, especially since... 2) A Desync Fest is actually the name of the race (so they should change it to Old Moon Desyncking or something); fast paced action with collision-free contesters across a large swath of land... Remember how BDO's engine handless props near and far, trying to jump-scare you all the time? yeah, nah! On top of that, 3) unrewarding - long waiting queues to run the track once with symbolic rewards for a rigged race.

The current racing minigame was a means to and end for training, to stack feathers for a gambling mechanic tied to breeding horses and, as such, to the Training profession, but unaffected by it. PA don't like to give good rewards for playing the game. They shower us with gifts for logging in, but they seem to almost always fail to balance the rewards tied to activities (just look at the Pit of Undying for another example, or to the Oxiterr Crystals).

So I dunno, I'd rather see Training being meaningful for end-game mounts (in other ways than receiving 2 L1 training mats from the daily) and maybe having more types of mounts to work with... seeing how the game's engine doesn't consider elephants and donkeys mounts (since they don't follow you through the well) and they're in the same state they were 1000 years ago.

Yeah I agree with you 100%, I don't think proper racing would fix the training issue by any means. Just sad to see another piece of potentially meaningful content left at the wayside D;

And... heh, you're right xD They don't actually come through the wells so I guess they literally aren't even mounts as far as the game is concerned. #DonkeysHaveRights

@Tooshaitopost

+1, definitely.

And thanks, I was thinking of making such a thread myself.

It feels like training is being forgotten like sailing (except that ocean has mass buggs).

About the races, one big problem that makes it not attractive is that you have to wait in the instance before it's filled.

Subscriptions to enter an instance should be possible while we're still out at our activity and once it's full (10/10) you all enter.

I don't see any productive reason behind the forced entry on the race before: you lose time (for nothing), you end up alone since there's zero announcement, you have to wait for an event to have it filled (sometimes)... Some would like to enter the race as soon as it's filled, nothing else.

I know I've stopped trying it because of the forced entry in the instance that remains empty.

So please, PA, take it off and put a participants counting system: allow the subscriptions for the next filled race without entering it before it's full and ready to start.

This would bring back the Stonetail food and the rewards we all (trainers) would like to get.

Even if they would rework it, it would just be bartering 2.0, and those ppl who want to afk autopath for pocket change can already barter.

Surely if they would make it broken silver wise ppl would do it, but the game needs active content, not a another afk autopathing simulator to keep the game on try while u play with other games...
