Hello, I have been playing BDO on Windows 11 for about a year now and last week when I tried to load the game it would not work. So I tried a few things and those did not work, eventually I uninstalled BDO completely and then reinstalled it. After doing this I can not get BDO to get past the first Initiallization screen to make it to the BDO Client where the game actually installs. I contacted support and they told me to get a different OS since Win11 is not supported but there must be another option as I have been running this game completely fine for close to a year. Does anyone have any ideas? I have a screenshot of the client where it freezes during the install and the CMD prompt that pops as well if anyone needs it.

The CMD prompt says " Value UninstallString exists, overwrite(Yes/No)? I have tried typing Y, Yes, and once I press enter the CMD prompt closes then nothing happens and I am stuck at the screen saying Please wait while Windows installs Black Desert on your computer. This window never closes and I have to end it in the task manager. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas other than get a different OS please

Thank you!!

I play BDO (no steam version) on Windows 11 too, no problems until today.

Maybe you should try this?:

Open the Registry Editor by selecting Start, Run, typing regedit and clicking OK. Navigate your way to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. In the left pane, with the Uninstall key expanded, right-click any item and select Delete.

Try running steam in adminsitrator mode and see if you can launch the game afterwards. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with your error message but at the very least running in admin mode might make it possible for you to play unless someone else has a better idea. I wouldn't go messing with registry keys without first doing a system restore.

I tried this and it didn't work. Is there a certain file I should delete?

Its a common error with windows 11. Just type in Y in the promt, then close the install window via task manager (it will have frozen and wont continue even when its done) and then open the launcher via the executable in the install folder.

The launcher will finish the install

When I do this, after click the Launcher the Black spirit pops up and the client never appears. Any other suggestions?

lol, I misread UninstallString as UninstallSteam xD My bad.

Windows 11 doesn't play well with much so you will encounter weird problems with different games and applications from time to time. If at all possible, I would recommend swapping back to windows 10 if possible. This isn't related to this problem although it would fix it, it's just W11 is a buggy mess.

It may be possible to uninstall the game and then on the installer you can right click on it then set compatibility mode to windows 10 and run as administrator. This MIGHT fix the issue you're encountering. Likewise if you're using a third party antivirus, get rid of it and just use windows defender. If you're only using windows defender, disable it while you install BDO.
