Rework shai buffs into auras

There are multiple issues with the current shai buffs:

-They can be Iframed

-Party members can be out of range

-They have no counterplay in small scale

To solve these change it so when they are used, they give an aura in a small radious around the shai, so they are constantlly getting applied to nearby party memebers.

If auras aren't supported by the current system, then make it so shai get's a 1minute buff, which periodically triggers a shorter buff to nearby players. Someting like once every 3s with 10s duration.

i like this idea because it would force people to actually play around shais, not just use them to get buffs and ditch them.

That aura would need to be as big as Centilutos's arena at least, if not larger (considering people can still benefit from the buffs in Amarillos).

At that point, the pulse/aura thing would become a problem, as you'd probably want it smaller for pvp which will lead to other issues like, how do you separate the pve/pvp variants?

Both the auras and the heals can be iframed, btw. So make the heals an aura too, then. Unless the pulse itself can be iframed. Then just remove the ability to iframe for all the classes.

I think this is a good idea. +1

Are you talking about Shai placing down AOE circles for each spell? that last for a while?

if yes, then that is a great idea. +1.

Hi Archaic,

If I'm understanding the OP, an aura would be a togglable skill that affects all allies or enemies in a specific range. Think of songs as they are except you just press a button and it activates them. They stay active as long as they are set to on. The difference is once allies leave your radius; they lose the aura benefits. These types of skills are common in other mmos like wow, lineage 2 etc. As a shai player I'd say it wouldn't work. The OP obviously doesn't really play one and has issues with the buffs they provide. What he or she wants is for shai buffs to be removable/stripped by enemies or if that can't happen for them to push enemy players out of range of the shai so they lose their buffs.

So, his/her suggestion really doesn't have shai interest in mind, despite him/her trying to gain favor by mentioning how their buffs can be iframed. If PA implemented the OP suggestion what would happen is players would be forced to fight in a small radius around the shai and expect the shai to move along with them. The problem is shai mobility sucks and she can't keep up with anything. And the way the game is designed is that everything zips in back and forth. Auras are contrast to the games nature. I vote nay, it would be a overall stupid change.

This is a very good point, if it's an AoE that remains still it may not be the best chage. We'll just need to have OP elaborate on their suggestion, however, CatDK is incredibly knowledgable on BDO, so I'm sure you'll welcome the suggestion after they explain it a bit further.

I don't agree that we should promote a playstyle that sounds as though it would make the class even more of a buff slave than she is now.

They did destroy We're Gonna Win with the last changes by making the aoe abysmally small, taking a massive throwable aoe, and turning it into a line of uselessness. However, my typical playstyle is to move, and 'buff bomb' an area then do some stuff for 10s and move to someplace else to buff bomb, etc, etc. Shais endlessly playing music is just boring with how it is designed right now, and I think meaningful changes to turn her more focused on active support would require a complete kit rework. Mainly because they'd need to rebalance everything and make sure the playstyle is fun and interesting. With what we have right now, you got buffs on a 10s cd, debuffs on a similar cd, bongos/slows, a heal on a 30s cd. So basically it is buffs>options>buffs>options... good shais make good decisions to impact fights and a great shai is absolutely a menace that is prioritized for death in fights because of their impact.

I don't just mean that from a shai perspective but as an advisor of a small guild, 1 geared shai could and has ruined us, so I've had to tag to counter them just in case. Not to say that Shai is OP, but she's just very strong at empowering allies while limiting enemies.

Yeah the AOE should be increased a little cause it's curently way too small
