Alright so bare with me. What if when you dye an item with Mervs palette it just stays that way? Even after the buff expires.
To clarify. Dyes in this proposal would be permanent until changed with the palette or removed with bleech without palette access.
Frankly im surprised it doesnt work this way already and wondering from a fairness approach why we dont have this functionality for basic character expression. The dye system at large is a train wreck since most of the features are behind paying real money for either a temporary change or RNG chance to get dyes you probably dont want from packs(Which is in dire need of positive QoL adjustments too). Such as making dyes without some other non pearl shop method.
This proposal does not nullify the existing systems in my opinion. Since the likelihood of someone being anal about their dye choice will still make them want a value pack for dye changes or whatever else reason.
- I'd like to see this OP's feedback seriously considered. -
As a new customer to BDO, I'm still learning all that this game does and I can't profess to any great amounts of knowledge about Black Desert or even a small amount. But I can say that what I have just seen happen on my character with the dyes has been a large turn off for me. - I honestly thought this was a bug, until finding this post.
My husband and son have tried to drag me into this game before but I'm not a fan of the unreal engine. However I tried it this week and enjoyed the cute outfits for my Shai and the dyes for clothing and her horses armor. Sort of a pixal dolly while farming. To my shock, this evening when merv's pallet buff dropped, I no longer had dyed clothing on my character once it was changed or dyed armor on my horse once it was stabled.
Yes, I can always use another merv pallet, but that's not the point. The thought of having to babysit that isn't enjoyable and this is a 'game'. The point is like the OP said, I'm amazed this wasn't addressed a Long time ago as a quality of life. I can't see how you make so much income off dyes that it justifies providing an unpleasant experience, from the very customers that you want money from. For myself, I won't be spending any more money.
On a side note - the only thing I've found irritating in game so far is the amount of lag due to horses standing about unused. However, now I begin to wonder if it's because your customers don't want to lose what they've done on their armor? If so, your decision to avoid allowing dyes to stay has created one of your largest nuisances to your customer base. That seems counter productive to success.
U muss be new to F2P games, but that's just how they make money.

The last MMO I played, the dye system was free.....
This makes sense. Imagine if your player model customizations reverted back to the original settings when VP's ran out? This is essentially how the dyes work.
Merv's is one of the smaller reasons why I keep my VP active. Bartering, inventory, weight, storage space, and remote node access are the more important reasons.
I cannot see a tweak in the dye system drastically changing the amount of people who invest in a VP, then again, I don't know PA's balance sheet, and nor does anyone else.

Yeah it shows much about how clueless u are if you think ppl buying VP for the inventory or weight or the remote node stuff.
In fact lot more buy VP for the dyes than all the ones you wrote here combined.

Well i think people who are getting it are definitely after the mervs but just as much the market tax reduction is equally important for anybody actively playing. The change i wrote about in the post will help with f2p woes of looking good, or perhaps more budget oriented gamers who maybe get a vp like every now and then. like i proposed its not at all making it usless. just more fair.

The most important part of VP is the tax yeah, majority buys it for that, but the dude did not argue with this one, and mentioned it's almost useless benefits instead.
Yes. This is ridiculous that we cannot express ourselves using colors in the game. You have to pay for it.
I would agree to have Merv's for free and VP would give you the option to use the RGB color of your freedom.
But the current system is ridiculous. They already milk us for several kinds of premium subscriptions.

Sorry, I should have been more clear in that sentence as it was so easily misunderstood. I was writing my own reasons for having a VP active. Stating what is "almost useless" assumes everyone plays like you, which doesn't seem true.
