Title: Roll back the mistakes and just fix the bad development decisions.

Hello all,

AT back with another post that you are not going to like, unless you really do care about BDO.

The direction of BDO was always on my mind when this game was on its way up. I spent many hours thinking to myself: "the devs are obviously going to make the right choices, right? they know better and besides, they are professionals! right?" -wrong, as BDO developed the people in charge made some pretty poor choices along the way that have confused and stifled the game itself and the community. I blame the corporate changing of hands that happened with Kakao being on the scene for a while and eventually leaving the BDO scene, whereas PA took over as sole owner of BDO.

What are some of those mistakes? I'm glad you asked, lets talk about the dead god armor, or slumbering armor set like some tend to call it, and why it has a weird progression pattern. So the slumbering armor set in-game always has the icon of and it bears the V in the icon regardless of the enhancement level. This is embarrassing, why could you NOT make it so the enhanced levels show on the icon of the new armor? has them shown correctly:

its idiotic to think that this change can't be made to the in-game effect.

Slumbering Armor is a transformative gear state type of item, meaning that once you had the old armor upgraded to a certain point (EG PEN Rednose C10) you could combine it with another rare item to make a whole new type of armor set.

However the grief I just shared above is not the reason why slumbering armor is a mistake. What I have BEEF with is that the system does not follow the natural order of numerical terms and prefixes that it began with. Just so you know what I mean when I say "Numerical Terms" and "Prefixes" I am talking about the PRI (I), DUO (II), TRI (III), TET (IV), PEN (V)...

Slumbering Armor set, and all the pieces like the gloves and boots that are in the near future, need to be removed from the game. It's a bad design decision and a total aberration of what should have been released in the natural progression system of BDO. More importantly, deciding to go with a transformative gear state was a poor choice because you already set the stage for the rest of the numerical prefixes to expand the power delta of all enhance-able gear. They are as follows:

Above I wrote out the rest of the numerical terms and prefixes that come after what is currently in the game (PEN V). Now its important to note that the slumbering armor already hits the power delta of the new five points that are beyond V, but wont show it as a naturalized progression of the established system.

We deserve better, we deserve the whole PRI to DEC system for all gear that you can enhance. This way we can take gear that is obsolete and entirely marginalized and make it relevant.

So to summarize here: Remove slumbering armor set, the whole thing is a dumpster fire just get rid of it. Release the next 5 power delta categories as they should be displayed, not just for armor but for all things enhance-able. And please don't alienate any more things in the game as to their natural enhancing progression theme.

Well... That's a serious tone for such a small matter. XD

Still, if we can get more diverse equipment with such a system, why not?

Just, one question : by going the way you suggest, would we still keep a relative protection against enhancement loss once we reach HEX, for example ?

Yeah man, I'm not saying to get rid of the caphras system or the cron system. Both of those were put in place to help you succeed in enhancing, and they are great.

The team has a history of making and implementing systems that failed. Anyone remember the Reknowned Score system? it was nutty and tbh kind of cool, but they rolled that back.

PA team, believe in yourselves, roll back the bad stuff just like you did the Reknown system.

Not wearing the same exact gear for the rest of eternity would be nice though. Feels good finally putting something besides red nose on lol

Yeah they should fix the icons to display the proper level instead of V always.

Back when these armors were developed, it went through a number of iterations.

First, it was as OP suggested, with the different enhancement stages shown on the armor. Feedback on that was negative, as players who worked for their PEN gear (and 2 years ago, that was a lot more effort than nowadays) thought it was stupid to have a full wheel of PENs, and then a random DUO or TRI somwhere. It made them feel as if their progression was diminished to have a "lower" enhancement level item in there.

The second iteration had different colours for each enhancement stage (aka green, blue, yellow, red, purple iirc). Feedback on that was that it was goofy, and made the gear wheel look weird.

So in the end, PA settled on just using a different name in order to make the item not stand out as much on the gear wheel.

Think of that what you will, but it was apparently the majority of feedback in these times.

On the other hand, OP does not like the system of getting another item and instead wants to continue with the numerical enhancement stages. The reasons why I personally don't agree with that were partly already mentioned:

- Jump to next stage is made more meaningful by requiring another item instead of just RNG

- Visual difference in gear wheel to upgrade to the next strongest item in game

- New baseline for enhancement fails and red karma downgrade

- "New" item to use instead of using the same for 7 years

- Visual difference on character appearance to distinguish "endgame geared" players

- Stat differences between certain boss armors (e.g. Red Nose / Dim Tree) can be equalised

Simply continuing the numerical stages would feel a lot less impactful and like I am forever stuck with one piece of gear. Getting a new item actually feels like progression, instead of just seeing another number on an item I had for more than 5 years at this point.

Not gonna lie, theres been a lot of mistakes and bad decisions by PA, especially in the last year or two. But the implementation of armor of slumbering origin, in my mind, was not one of them.
The low enhancement rates, especially for Obliterating, with the high enhancement costs due to crons & caphras, the chance to downgrade already from PRI, and the SHORTS-like appearance of the armor on certain female classes, these are definitely things I have gripes with in regards to the Slumbering Origin pieces. The fact that a new item was introduced, not so much. But thats just my own opinion.

Personally, I'd love having a single type of equipment (so we have only one gear to enhance per slot) BUT only if we can tweak some of their stats (with limits and some losses obviously, but see what I mean? ).

For example, our boots could be enhanced with Kutum Auras for DR, or Karanda Auras for evasion. But when you rise one, you reduce the other.

This is just a quick, superficial suggestion, but when devs decided to slowly remove gear variations and bury the idea to tweak some "second choice boss equipment" (Red Nose, for example) to create a real system of alternative gear, I was expecting the new Dead God Armors to be customizable.

Well... That's a serious tone for such a small matter. XD

Small matter but very annoying. There are plenty of such annoying little problems in bdo.

Eg. for almost 7 years player didn't know when his life skills tools durability was running out.

When I look at fallen god armor ... I don't know what level it is.

We have a very good 0, pri-pen system and that's what the designation should be, not separate names that no one remembers anyway.

FIx the icon but keep PEN max, i dont see why ppl want X so bad, just keep PEN its legacy thingy, even players who dont play BDO know PEN in bdo is best upgrade. Keep it, its good this way.

They made it keep the PEN icon because they felt like putting it back to base/pri/etc would make it seem less valuable. I've been stating since the beginning that it should just become HEX, HEP etc.

The naming of the fallen god pieces is confusing and annoying. I don't make such a big deal out of it, but now this thread is here anyway, +1 to change it to VI VII VIII IX X.
