Hello, first of all I've been guild bouncing lately and so I have had to go through the process of meeting and talking to a fair ammount of guild masters, advisors, officers and such. I have gathered a list of things I have noticed people doing that honestly undermine the whole experience and at least personally makes me feel like in some places people just want numbers and just ignore the quality of members. Here goes a list of concepts I would like all of us to reflect on and maybe even start a conversation:

-Discord Ticket Bots: While it is a way to keep the whole recruiting process separate from the #general chat and provides a safe space to talk about what the new member is looking for and what the guild offers, I feel like some guilds forget this isn't a one sided situation where you're just receiving an application to join your guild, I've seen guilds where you were prompted to fill out a form with details such as gender, age and nationality, are we serious? Also if you have the system where you prompt the new member to open a ticket and talk to management, make sure the "mangement" can have a coherent conversation in english.

-Trigger happy recruiters who just want you to join the guild: as of now I believe this comprehends 40% of all the guilds I've applied to, barely any conversation, or even avoidance to answer simple stuff like: "do you guys have an active vc", "do you guys do dungeons", "do you guys do any pvp besides open world or nw". Where has the "let's talk and see if we like each other as guild and potential member" concept?

-Forgetful staff: I understand we all have our own lifes to live but if you're management in a guild it means you've volunteered to be someone with responsabilities. Expecting new members to just socialize isn't going to work, I'm not claiming all officers in the game should be friends with their members but at least try to engage with said new members, maybe someone will pick up on the conversation and that new member will suddenly feel like there's actual alive members they can talk to. The "if you want people to talk to in vc just ask people in the in-game chat or discord, someone is sure to join" doesn't work, at least not in my experience.

We're all from all over and have different experiences with socializing or engaging in a new envoirnment, if you truly seek to add new members that will make your guild active there's a few more steps than just inviting them and leaving them to their own devices, please let's make it a better place for all of us. :)
