Literally as simple as what the title says. This should have been a basic functionality implemented along with the patch on the fifth of June that implemented the fishing stance, but here we are 41 days and 5 patches later, and 19 days after a feedback ticket addressing the issue. And the simple feature to allow us to choose what key to put that new function on still hasn't been implemented. This is a glaring oversight and very frustrating.

It should've been a basic feature regardless, but for me personally the issue is even more exaggerated because I use an AZERTY keyboard layout. Because of this the assigned and unchangeable "²" key is on the upper far left side of the keyboard. To the left of my "1" key, right under the "Esc" key, and just above the "Tab" key. This is a key I have/had been using for 8 years on all my classes to slot combat skills or consumables. However, now if I use that key it's a gamble between having the combat skill activate or whipping out my fishing rod and becoming an immobilised free kill in the middle of grinding/fighting.
So much as double tapping is enough to bring out the rod or at the very least get flashbanged by the selection wheel popping up and having it momentarily take over my mouse and block me from aiming/looking around. No "holding down" required at all. And that's only if the skill is ready to be used.
Start tapping too early as the skill is still coming off cooldown? Still tapping when the skill has cast? Enjoy the guarantee of getting interrupted by the menu flashing up and momentarily taking control of your mouse at best, or becoming a free kill by having the rod equip itself at worst. I sure do love losing crystals playing the game exactly the same way that has been fine for years but now getting screwed over by a feature PA couldn't fully implement properly, such a great experience! Not like Girins, Rebellious Spirit Crystals or Ulitmate Combined Magic Crystals are that expensive or difficult/annoying to come by anyway, right?

We celebrated a 10 year anniversary and in all that time the most consistent thing in BDO has been the PA classic of "half-assed is good enough" time and time again. PA and J have private castle and Bugatti money, but finding the budget for devs with some extra braincells and perhaps employing a team of testers that actually does something with the Global Lab and prevents stuff like this apparently remains painfully impossible.

I still can't seem to find an option to edit/choose a different key to assign to the function if desired, which would still be nice to see.
BUT
that being said, after today's patch (18th of July 2024) you now really need to hold down the key for a significant enough amount of time (maybe even slightly longer than before?) to bring up the selection wheel and can now spam tap it however much you like without the menu flashing up, or the fishing rod getting equipped "quick swap" style.
No matter how fast or often in a row the key is tapped, as long as it's not held down for longer than I ever would while doing so for activating my skills, the menu no longer even so much as flashes up.

This means there is still a key overlap, but at least so far as I can tell it has pretty much completely resolved the part of the issue that was the main cause of frustration and most urgently in need of a fix.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Dear helmet wearing developers,

Since you changed the timing on bringing up this selection wheel upon holding the key pressed AGAIN with the updates to fishing/lifeskilling etc. in the recent months that passed, this issue is pretty much straight back to what it was. You seem to be unable to grasp that people use different keyboard layouts/languages and in the case of AZERTY users your chosen key is horribly inconvenient.

I am now back to not only getting Selection Wheel pop-ups during grinding, but also getting the skills I have slotted on that keybind interrupting me when trying to go into fishing stance. Rather than fixing it, you made BOTH parts of the function significantly worse.

Here are some simple solutions;
1) Revert the time the keystroke needs to be held down longer. (like how it used to be before you shortened it again)
-This doesn't alleviate the more minor issue of having the skills activate before being able to go into fishing stance whilst the skill is then on cooldown and can't be activated, but at least doesn't cause any selection wheel issues whilst grinding.

2)  Change the assigned keybind for the fishing stance function specifically for AZERTY keyboard users to where the ACTUAL tilde key is on our keyboard rather than the complete opposite end just to the left of the "1" number key where it has been assigned to ever since you implemented this function.
-This would remove the overlap and would therefore not get in the way of combat, whilst also likely not having another key assigned to it that is being pressed in "split-second" situations.

Or 3) Actually do your job properly and allow any and all users to assign their own keybind for it so everybody can assign it to whichever key makes most sense for them regardless of which one that is.
-This would be how it should've been implemented in the first place had it been properly designed and implemented. And in the case your excuse is that "it's too difficult because a limit of the old menu doesn't allow us to add more keybind edit functions in the game's settings and options" well.. Clearly many past "QoL" changes have shown that even if you're incapable of directly adding a line to the keybind settings, what you CAN do is add toggle switches. Add one for "Fishing Stance keybind activation" aka let me just completely disable it so the only way to go into fishing stance is by clicking the big circle button for it on the right side of the "mount" section in the on-screen UI. This wouldn't be a proper clean fix, but at least a patch is better than a hole, so if there really is not other way for you to competently address this issue then let's compromise so my combat doesn't get interfered with, and if I want to fish I'll just go into the fishing/harpooning stance the manual way.

[also bit of a moot extra little point: it's rather silly that said on-screen UI section in the edit UI screen is just called "Mount" and is but a little square in the UI editor whilst by now that's "Mount > Residence > Worker > Pets > Maids/Butlers > Campsite > Tagged Character | Fairy > Auto-use Items > Change Stance". (Of which "Call Mount", "Residence List", "Worker List", "Pet List", and "Maid/Butler list" each can have their own direct UI hotkeys assigned to them as well by the way.) Sure, most of those are useful, but they could do with getting split up so people can hide the ones they don't require to see out of that list, which would in-turn clean up visual clutter. Seriously, with how infrequently you need it what is "Residences" even doing there, and if you do use it THAT frequently I'm pretty sure you know where your residences are.]

BUMP

STILL running into the issue that the supposed "quotation mark" key assigned to the fishing stance selection wheel is the "²" key for my keyboard layout, and this key I used for a hotbar quickslot remains hijacked by this function assigned to it and I still don't even at least have a way to at least disable the function's hotkey so I just have to click the UI widget when I have to fish.
PLEASE PA I BEG! It's practically been over a year and a half by now. Can you figure something out so that darn key finally stops flashbanging me with a selection wheel in my face in the middle of PvE/PvP. Or even worse straight up pulls out the fishing rod entirely. The "²" key is on the far left side of my keyboard for me just above tab and I had comfortably used it for a quickslot for 6 years until this silly yet massive inconvenience that has been dragging on and on and on.

Adventurer feedback is supposed to be valuable and we specifically get directed to these forums. This is something small that should've been easily incorporated as a footnote in one of the QoL focussed patches.
Yet here we are with the inconvenient issue persisting still and frustrations at what it causes in-game as well as at the deafening inaction from PA ever increasing without any acknowledgement from PA to be found let alone a solution in sight.

I hope not, but I fear I'll be bumping this exact issue again a couple of months into next year when it's been two years of dealing with this unpolished implementation causing problems.

This, pretty much.

Why is rebind menu missing half of what the game offers ?

Legit if a person is disabled the game become unplayable depending of what they can/can't rebind.
