Market profiteering is a quick and easy way to make money while putting in minimal methods, which produce varied results and profit depending on various factors and changes in the market.

This guide is a coalition of my personal experience of the market and methods that I have used in the past and present to produce profit.

This method requires a player to interweave life skills and luck with market pricing to produce profit.

Ps. I will not be mentioning any current methods or specific items to produce profit as it can have run on effects and flood a market for others who may be using said method for profit.

Starter info:

You require a value pack for this profiteering method to be even remotely viable.

Locating the marketplace:

    • Marketplace can be accessed through the Marketplace Director in all major cities.
    • Marketplaces can also be accessed through your menus.
    • New menu: Esc -> Central market icon.
    • Old menu: Esc -> Central Market.

There are 6 key locations at the marketplace:

  1. Balance (Yellow)
  2. Buy and sell (Pink)
  3. Warehouse capacity (Cyan)
  4. Taxation amount (Purple)
  5. Navigation bar (Red)
  6. Item listings (Dark Blue)

  • Balance

The balance shows how much money you have deposited into the market and is how much money you can spend.

  • Buy and sell

The buy and sell area is a tab where you can change from your selling items to the area where you can buy items.

  • Warehouse capacity

This shows how many more items you can store in your warehouse.

  • Taxation amount

The base taxation on the market is 35% meaning that your items have a 65% value when selling on the market. With a value pack it you have a (0.65*1.3) * 100= 84.5% item value while selling on the market. You can also gain 0.5% bonus at 1000 family fame, 1% at 4000 family fame and 1.5% at 7000 family fame.

  • Navigation bar

This navigation bar allows you to change through the different item types

  • Item listings

This shows the items that are available to be bought or sold on the market under your selected category. It also displays basic information about the item.

Congrats! you now know the absolute basics of the marketplace.

Profiteering guide:

Method 1:

The key basis of my method of producing profit on the market is buying an item and selling it at a different form. One method of doing so is buying a base item, processing it and then selling it at a higher tier.

One item I have done in the past to produce profit is concentrated magic stones armour and weapon (disclaimer this method does not work anymore).

You take the highest tier value and then subtract the cost of producing this item.

This would be:

Plus 2 times:

(2730000 * 0.85) - (2200000 + 2 * 126000) = -131500

Hence once again this method does not work anymore due to the loss.

The general formula for method is:

(highest tier * 0.85) - (item parts required) = profit

Method 2:

Another method of profiteering from the market which is much more well known is enhancing, this method often requires more money investment and investment in the form of failstacks but can also produce more potential profits than my first method.

The main method of doing so (once again without mentioning any given weapon, armour or accs) is buying a base and enhancing it to tri/tet or buying a pri and enhancing it to tet.

WARNING! This method does not guarantee profits and there is a chance to lose large amounts of money.

Method 3:

This method may not be viable for everyone as it requires you to invest a large amount of money and hold onto it for a while.

This method is the hold of an item that you believe will increase in value.

For example:

This shows that grunil gloves have increased in values of ~48% in the last 3 days meaning that you would have produced a profit of ~33%.

Once again this method can be a form of gambling and does not guarantee profits like method 1 does.

Congratulations Profiteer, I hope to see you making billions. If you have any more questions or want help with anything you can contact me at Wolf#4216 on discord or Woifus family name ingame!

EDIT!:

Here is some important info that I missed out during writing this guide. Thankfully Sommer came to the rescue and mentioned it in the comments.

Notes Sommer provided:

Method 1: Niche market processing High-value processing recipes tend to have at least one of these restrictions: a) low/no supply of the materials b) low demand of the product, b) razor thin margins (e.g. conc stones) - respecting and working around these restrictions is crucial to profiting.

Method 2: Enhancing 1) Requires math, no way around it 2) Averaging out will require a high number of attempts (and capital, depending on the enhancing pipeline) 3) Enhancing pipelines can range anywhere from simple grunil enhancing to elaborate ones with bossgear/blackstar/accessories/you name it.

- Method 3: Investments 1) Profit is never guaranteed 2) Freezes up money, sometimes over large periods of time -> this is especially relevant to players who are at an early stage in their progression 3) investments can last anywhere from short-term (few days - event-based) to long-term (few weeks to months - general direction of the game, e.g. hadum inflation, introduction of new items)

One last thing. The guide may be beginner-friendly but I'd explicitly mention that any risk-based money-making method is not beginner-friendly and requires careful calculations/risk estimation.

This is missleading.

If you buy blackstones and sharps, and sell concentraded one, you ain't make profit from market buy/sell, but you are lifeskilling, and make the profit from processing.

And you can calculate the silver/h you make by afk processing this way. You can proces many items this way, and the profit will be minimal in most cases, but this isn't market profiting, this is simply afk processing.

The tax one is missleading aswell. The tax is 35% not 45%, and the VP bonus isn't additive either. With VP your multiplier will be 0.65*1.3=0.845

Enchanting isn't market profiting. That's enchanting, and you make the money from the enchanting.

The only actually "market profiting" in your guide is the third one, which require very large amount of silver to actually worth bothering with, and if someone have the required cash for that, he don't need pointless guides like this one, especially that you can't just buy 10k grunil gloves and sell them for profit later, this is a BS example aswell.

Apart from splitting hair about semantics, how would you suggest new players learn how to make profits.

That's right you don't suggest anything in any helpfull way as usual, you're here to just bash people who make efforts.

Personally I'm glad that people like Woisufs take out of their free time in order to help others.

I hear you my friend. Once again these are methods that I have coalated in my belief is minimal effort market profiteering I am sorry if you define is as otherwise. Although my best efforts I too make mistakes and have adjusted the post to the tax numbers you have clarified thanks a lot :).

Hi, the most common method is applying research to upcoming events and purchasing goods which will be in demand for the upcoming events. As demand rises so does the price. Another method is pure brute force, I myself have compiled a spreadsheet which calculates profits of goods once I input values of items and checks if any low grade materials are worth purchasing to obtain a profit once I transform it to a higher grade.

ps. Remember to calculate tax while trying to achieve profit!

Hey, nice guide

One thing I would mention is that any method which directly operates on the market (with minimal processing steps) is heavily affected by market fluctuations, to the point where a minimal drop in price can eradicate all profits.

You showed three different types of profiting. Maybe it'd help to classify them into the bigger picture of money-making methods to show potential benefits/risks.

Here are a few notes off the top of my head:

- Method 1: Niche market processing High-value processing recipes tend to have at least one of these restrictions: a) low/no supply of the materials b) low demand of the product, b) razor thin margins (e.g. conc stones) - respecting and working around these restrictions is crucial to profiting.

Hey, great guide!

Like you and others have mentioned, it really boils down to two things. No matter what strategy you pick for market profiteering, you always have to consider the price fluctuations (use the 1-month/3-month trend graph + recent transaction info) and how upcoming events will impact the market.

Keep up the good work, cheers!

Hello! I've been clicking through this thread every time I see it on the client and since I've been on the lifeskill grind for CM proft, I wanted to put down a couple of things I've noticed. I suggest this for the ones that are super super new to everything going on.

Gathering: You ever feel like digging through bushes or herbs and coming up with weeds and a bunch of other plants? They're a lot more in demand than you think thanks to alchemy. Lumbering may not be as kind or generous, but processing regular Logs that you can get from any tree for Scantlings and even Big Timber Squares will bring in some money.

Leveling up your gathering and processing will help you get more drops and do more in processing. Additionally equipping yourself with a Life Spirit stone that you can buy on the market for a little over a million silver will help with both gathering and processing rates.

Good luck with getting your grind on!
