Suggestions/Comments: It’s been 9 months since Black Desert Online made the switch from Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) to Xigncode3, and players continue to face issues that deserve attention from PA. Here are the main concerns:
-
Performance Problems:
Xigncode3 is significantly more demanding on CPUs, leading to lag spikes, frame drops, and overall poor performance, especially in high-stress situations like PvP and Node Wars. Many players have seen noticeable drops in performance with Xigncode3 causing unnecessary strain on their systems. In contrast, EAC was much lighter, allowing smoother gameplay without the nonsensical system demands that we’re dealing with now. -
Privacy Worries:
There’s a growing fear about what Xigncode3 is actually. Players have questioned the level of access it has to our personal data like what files it’s reading (All of them) and where this information is being sent (TBD). In today's world, with strict data privacy laws (particularly in the EU), the lack of transparency is alarming. EAC didn’t raise these red flags; it didn’t blatantly violate privacy by combing through files on our computers. The fact that Xigncode3 operates without giving us clear details should worry everyone, especially PA who demands this for there game when alternative choices exist and are far better. -
False Positives:
Xigncode3 seems to flag legitimate software frequently, especially for players who work in IT or from home. Many have received unjustified warnings from GM's or temp-bans without any real explanation from PA. Xigncode3 appears to be overly aggressive, and Pearl Abyss’s responses offer no clarity, just vague reason like "Trust us, it’s correct." Without providing any proof! This lack of accountability is frankly disgusting, especially when players face permanent consequences like account suspensions in a game they've invested so much in both time and for some money. With EAC, these issues were far less frequent, and players weren’t punished for simply running work-related programs. -
Switching Back is Feasible:
The change from EAC to Xigncode3 happened swiftly, so switching back shouldn’t pose any significant challenges. The decision to abandon EAC in favor of a program with a history of privacy violations and system instability is mind boggling. If Pearl Abyss cannot provide a clear, valid reason for this switch, that alone raises questions. Why choose a system with blatent unethical and borderline illegal data collection practices?
Proposed Solution:
- Revert to EAC: This would immediately improve performance, protect player privacy, and reduce false positives. EAC worked, and it respected us and our systems far more than Xigncode3 does.
- If not, Optimize Xigncode3: At the very least, Pearl Abyss must provide transparency about why players are being flagged. We need specific evidence, not vague claims like "Trust us, it's right." Accountability is essential if we are to trust the system of banning players.
Final Thoughts:
Xigncode3 has been in place for long enough, and we’ve gotten used to its presence, but that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable. We need to raise awareness as a community and demand an answer from PA. Think about it: if they’re accessing and collecting your data now, who’s to say they won’t use it in ways you didn’t agree to? Or if they already are and you don't know it. Even if you don’t care about privacy, ask yourself this simple question: "Did I experience better performance with EAC than I do now?" If the answer is yes, then the choice is clear. I'm trying to push for a better solution as I have faced these performance issues along with many of my friends. Either switch back to EAC or demanding major improvements to Xigncode3 from PA.
