Notes from my experiences 'dating' NPCs. All from memory, trust but verify!

♥ What'd you say?

There are 24 dateable NPCs. Shower them with gifts and they may choose you as a Lover and grant you their title for the week. Win the affections of 5 and 10 NPC Lovers in a week for the permanent Flirt and Heartbreaker titles.

Tip: View available Datable NPCs by searching "'s Lover" in Titles (P).

Tip about a Tip: Don't forget Valks! He wont turn up if you search this way. Oops.

♥ Amity isn't free

I kept no records of money spent on dating (as it should be). If I had to guess I'd say about 1 bil a day for 6+ weeks, and 1-2 bil a day for the last 3 weeks during the final push. The last 3 weeks I had 9 of 10 Lovers and did not want to lose one. Read all the tips here and you can do it for alot less!

♥ Raising Amity

Gifting is the best way to raise Amity, no waving or conversations here. The number of gifts you can give is limited by your Energy; each gift takes 5. The Amity you recieve per gift varies wildly from NPC to NPC. Some NPCs like cheap things and give you 1,000 Amity while other NPCs like expensive gifts and only give 100 Amity each.

Opinion: Popular and highly visible NPCs are harder to win. (Good luck getting Crio, Amerigo, or Deve)

Tip: The amount of Amity isn't that important; what matters is how much Amity you have compared to everyone else.

Tip: To view your Amity remotely, use the "Find NPC" function.

♥ Buffs

30% Improved Elixir of Amity

15% Calpheon Noble Dress (or similar)

15% Calpheon Noble Dress w/ Tailoring Coupon (yes they stack!)

10% Tent

5% Sour Pickled Fish

Meh: There's a 2hr 10% Amity buff available from the Calpheon bookseller after completing the "Honor of Calpheon" questline. The stinker part is it costs 50 energy (that's 10 gifts!). I think I about broke even on the Energy spent vs Energy gained from the buff the one time I used it. You might have better math, but I think it's a bum deal.

♥ Dating takes my Energy

I was Confessing to 22 NPCs each week for 6+ weeks, giving at least 3 full rounds of 350 each (1,050 Energy). 22 * 1050 = 23,100 Energy / week. Good for you if you have 500 energy or whatever, you will still be chugging potions. I had a 10min kitchen timer set so I could drink XL potions and Tonics for a few hours each day. You can still do other stuff, you just have to run to a Lover every 30-40 minutes. Now that I think about it, you could probably target just 12-14 NPCs, use less Energy, and make more Amity gains than I did. Oops!

Note: I only started taking notes and pushing for 10 the last 6 weeks, there is another 4-6 weeks of less organized Dating before that...

♥ Confessing

You've told them how you feel and now you wait for a reply. During maint your crush will choose one Confessor as their Lover.

Feeling lucky? Your odds are [Your Amity] / [Total Amity of all Confessors]. The more people confessing, the lower your odds.

But wait, there's more!

If the current Lover holds the highest Amity of all Confessors, they automatically maintain Lover status. You must surpass their Amity for it to go back to RNG the next week. You won't know if you've surpassed the highest Lover, it could RNG to someone else, and then RNG again next week if they aren't the highest. Fun!

To be clear: Surpassing the top Lover does not mean you automatically become Lover, it goes to RNG.

Tip: Keep notes of who you Confessed to and how much Amity you have each week.

Tip: See what Lover's you currently have by searching "s Lover" in Owned Titles (P). Note the s in front, so you don't get fish titles.

♥ Amity depreciation

Amity depreciates each week during maint:

♥ If you Confess and are not chosen, you lose 5% Amity

♥ If you Confess and are chosen as Lover you lose 10% Amity

♥ If you are current Lover and maintain highest Amity you lose 10% Amity

This is where it gets interesting. You're already capped by Energy, and there's a fixed amount of Amity given per gift, and 10% is lost each week. At high Amity numbers it quickly becomes difficult to continue growing your Amity beyond a certain threshold, you're just trying to recover the 10% lost. This means unless someone is really obsessed, you can and will catch up.

Tip: DO NOT CONFESS until you are near the NPC's top Amity or you are throwing away 5% each week. Wish I thought of this sooner!

♥ Unanswered Asked and Answered

I had wondered about Amity per gift and wether it changed. According to player Madzz, it does not change. Further, you can find base values of Amity per gift at bdocodex by searching for the NPC and checking the "Accepts Gifts" tab.

Firstly, here is my from-bad-memory shorthand list of favorite gifts for most NPCs with item availability taken into account.

I hope very much that you test this yourself. Get one of each of their favorites and record the Amity. These values could change and I may be very wrong.*

♥ Give what you can

You are not limited to the items on their list. You can donate most any marketable item under 50mil. The Amity received varies so you'll have to experiment with different items (and come back here and tell us).

This is very useful for NPCs that have hard-to-get favorites. I've also thrown stacks of random items at NPCs that want unstackable items. It is not as cost-efficient, but sometimes you have to kiss and run.

♥ My Gift to You

I present my notes, which include the Amity I was at for the week ending 10/17.

(I'd say take off 10% for each week that has passed, but you know that already!)

The "LOVERS" section is just that, my Lovers. I was working on the "KISSERS" and casually flirting with the "CUTIES" group.

11/14: I still have 10 Lovers with no additional gifting. Neat!

11/21: Down to 9 Lovers while Santo Manzi takes space to "work on himself."

12/24: Two Lovers remain, Rikta and Manmehan Nesser.

1/2: Rikta and Manmehan Nesser. The thruple persists!

1/16: All good things must come to an end.

Amity per gift is fixed and does not depend on CM price. The base values can be found in the bdocodex page of the npcs, under the last tab "accepts gifts"

i believe than i confessed just after 1k amity, so my 100k amity after that is dead x)

For Soryu, i cant give gifts on oquilla. Do you know if it's because i must finish Land and the morning light part II?

You can also give them gifts that are not listed in the UI, i.e. Crystallized Despair gives a big chunk of amity but can get expensive to use them.

I had a bug with Ornella, losing 19% instead of 10% each week, support wasn't helpful at all with it.

Had another bug with Deve, was able to confess but never got a reply, tested this multiple times, never worked to this day.

When you Confessed at 1k, you were not chosen as Lover. You have to keep Confessing again each week.

For Soryu, I am not sure. Soryu was datable before LoML2 and I haven't completed it either.
