Awakening Drakania Feedback Summary

Explanation

This feedback summary is based on the most common feedback provided in the BDO Class Hub Discord for Awakening Drakania. Each topic is presented according to the number of upvotes and frequency of mentions. Feedback is organised by general issues, skill-specific points, and any additional topics, followed by screenshots of all reactions.

TLDR Section

Main feedback points touch upon quality of life changes to Awakening Drakania’s main skills, such as increasing damage in both PvE and PvP, increasing AoE of certain skills to improve PvE performance, improving her survivability in PvP large scale battles by re-adding her Legacy DP buff or increasing Scale Bastion DP buff back to +20 or adjusting core skills to provide more versatility.

Sections

1. General Feedback

  1. Topic: Changing Core skill distribution

Concern: Awakened Drakania only received core skills for one half of her kit, leading to some skills being ineffective and underused.

Implications: Changing the core options would improve the viability of Drakania’s skills, making her more competitive and enjoyable to play by providing meaningful choices in her combat style.

Solution: Replacing the current Hexeblood core options for , ,and with , , and will increase variety and build options.

  1. Topic: Damage Type Specific DP Reductions

Concern: Awakened Drakania lacks "Damage Type Specific DP Reductions," unlike classes like Warrior and Sorceress. Adding this mechanic would improve her PvE performance and create new strategies in PvP without increasing overall damage.

Implications: This change would enhance Drakania's competitiveness and versatility, allowing for more effective gameplay while maintaining balance.

Solution: Implement a -10 to -20 Melee DP reduction from summon hits in Markthanan’s Breath and Aerial Burst.

  1. Topic: Enhancing Drakania's Combat Viability

Concern: Other classes have permanent Super Armor (SA) combos, while Drakania’s highest DPS combo requires 9-11 skills and leaves her vulnerable to attacks. Skills like Flow: Obliterate and Doombringer do not provide adequate protection. Additionally, despite a 100% crit rate in Dragonblood, her damage output has significantly decreased post-nerfs, forcing her to choose between being unprotected in Hexeblood or having minimal damage in Dragonblood.

Implication: These changes would enhance Drakania's effectiveness and survivability, allowing her to maintain competitive DPS while having viable defensive options in both forms, ultimately improving her performance in PvE and PvP.

Solution: Buff damage for both stances, especially for Dragonblood skills, and introduce at least one more iframe movement skill. Consider adding another Super Armor to Hexeblood.

  1. Topic: Enhancing Drakania's Survivability

Concern: Recent DR changes let many classes stack high damage reduction, making them nearly untouchable. Awakening Drakania often relies on a full glass build, sacrificing her own DR and becoming vulnerable.

Implication: These adjustments would improve Drakania's survivability, allowing for a better balance between damage and defence.

Solution: Reinstate the 20 DP on Scale: Bastion (+10) and restore the DP buff from Legacy when switching to Dragonblood.

2. PvE Specific Feedback

Since the introduction of the Drakania class, players have been intrigued by its complex mechanics and high APM compared to other classes. However, its underwhelming PvE performance has deterred many from investing time in mastering it, especially after recent nerfs that negatively impacted its PvP capabilities. Despite hopes that these changes would enhance its PvE viability, little improvement has been observed. Having played the Awakened Drakania extensively, we believe that implementing straightforward adjustments focused on cooldowns, increasing PvE damage, and expanding the AoE of certain Hexeblood skills would significantly enhance the class's performance without compromising its PvP balance.

These changes aim to provide a more rewarding experience for players while maintaining the challenges inherent in mastering this unique class. We hope our suggestions will be beneficial to the developer team.

  1.  Topic: Legacy

Concern: This skill should be made usable as filler damage.

Solution: The AoE should be increased by %20 and the PvE damage should be buffed by 30%

  1.  Topic: Flow: Concealed Claw

Concern: The skill Hexeblood | Flow: Concealed Claw - 흐름 : 비장의 발톱 does not have any protection or CC. It is a skill used solely for damage. During PvE combos, it should be adjusted according to the cooldown of the skills used alongside it to prevent bottlenecks during the combo(7 second cycle). Additionally, the skill AoE should be extended forward so that it remains equal on the right and left sides. The visual below will be more explanatory.

Solution: The cooldown of skill should be reduced from 8 sec. to 7 sec and the AoE should be extended as shown in the screenshot below (Left is current skill shape, right is desired skill shape).

  1.  Topic: Hexeblood | Spiteful Soul - 혼에 사무친 원한

Concern: The AoE of the first and second hits of Hexeblood | Spiteful Soul - 혼에 사무친 원한  is currently smaller than that of the third hit. This inconsistency limits the skill's effectiveness in situations where AoE damage is necessary, making it challenging to utilise effectively during PvE encounters.

Solution: Increase the AoE of the first and second hits to match the AoE of the third hit. This adjustment would ensure that the skill can be reliably used for consistent AoE damage, enhancing its overall utility in PvE scenarios.

  1. Topic: Hexeblood | Extinction - 생명의 종말

Concern: The skill Hexeblood | Extinction - 생명의 종말 currently underperforms in PvE, limiting its effectiveness in damage-dealing rotations. This reduced damage output makes it less appealing for players looking to maximise their performance during PvE encounters.

Solution: Increase the PvE damage of Extinction by 25%.

  1. Topic: Hexeblood | Flow: Obliterate - 흐름:척결

Concern: The skill Hexeblood | Flow: Obliterate - 흐름:척결 currently underperforms in PvE, limiting its effectiveness in damage-dealing rotations. This reduced damage output makes it less appealing for players looking to maximise their performance during PvE encounters.

Solution: Increase the PvE damage of Obliterate by 45%.

  1. Topic: Hexeblood | Crackling Flame - 가르는 불꽃

Concern: The area of effect (AoE) and PvE damage of Hexeblood | Crackling Flame are currently limited, making it less effective in clearing large groups of enemies.

Solution: Increase AoE by by 15% and PvE damage by 30%

  1. Topic: Hexeblood | Storm Piercer - 폭풍을 꿰뚫는창

Concern: The current area of effect (AoE) and cooldown of Hexeblood | Storm Piercer limit its effectiveness, particularly in PvE scenarios where multiple targets need to be hit consecutively. The narrow range of the 2nd and 3rd hits reduces its efficiency, while the 8-second cooldown affects Drakania’s ability to sustain damage output.

Solution: Increase the AoE of the 2nd and 3rd hits by 20% and reduce the skill cooldown from 8 seconds to 7 seconds

  1. Topic: Dragonblood | Savage Decree - 날카로운 선포

Concern: Dragonblood | Savage Decree has not received any updates since its introduction, and its PvE damage is currently too low to be effective, especially compared to other available skills.

Solution: Increase PvE damage by 50% to make Savage Decree more viable in PvE scenarios, allowing it to contribute meaningfully to Drakania’s damage rotation and enhance her overall PvE performance

  1. Topic: Dragonblood | Storm Piercer - 폭풍을 꿰뚫는창

Concern: The animation for Dragonblood | Storm Piercer is slow, which limits its DPS potential. This slower speed also creates a cooldown bottleneck, further impacting its effectiveness, particularly in PvE.

Suggested Solution: To improve its PvE viability without affecting PvP too much, increase PvE damage by 30% and reduce the skill cooldown from 8 seconds to 7 seconds. This would enhance its utility in PvE rotations by mitigating cooldown delays while boosting overall DPS.

  1. Topic: Dragonblood | Sundering Roar - 대지를 가르는 포효

Concern: Dragonblood | Sundering Roar is a primary damage skill, but its long cooldown restricts its effective use, especially in PvE. Reducing the cooldown could be considered PvP gameplay, so to avoid an unbalanced approach, a PvE damage increase is suggested.

Suggested Solution: Increase PvE damage by 20% to balance its effectiveness, ensuring it remains impactful in PvE situations.

  1. Topic: Dragonblood | Doombringer - 파멸의 인도자

Concern: Dragonblood | Doombringer has a slow animation speed that lowers its overall DPS, making it less effective in PvE content.

Suggested Solution: Increase PvE damage by 30% to enhance DPS without altering animation speed, improving its effectiveness and consistency in PvE scenarios.

  1. Topic: Dragonblood | Tectonic Slam - 격파의 돌격

Concern: Dragonblood | Tectonic Slam has diminished effectiveness in PvP following recent nerfs, therefore it should provide some bigger advantage in PvE.

Suggested Solution: Increase PvE damage by 25% and reduce the cooldown from 8 seconds to 7 seconds. These changes would make the skill more competitive in PvE, enhancing its role in damage rotation and combo effectiveness.

3. Skill Feedback

  1. Topic: Dragonblood Savage Decree

Concern: The initial hit of the skill is ineffective and seldom used, especially after the Forward Guard nerf. Players frequently opt for Hexeblood: Tectonic Slam instead, leading to consistent exclusion of the first hit since the character's release.

Implications: This renders the first hit valuable in PvP and PvE, limiting the skill's utility and diminishing its overall effectiveness in Drakania's kit.

Suggested Solution: Remove the first hit of the skill, adjusting the second hit's damage to maintain overall output. Additionally, slightly increase the animation speed, similar to past adjustments made to Dragonblood: Tip of the Scale.

  1. Topic: Hexeblood Savage Decree

Concern: Hexeblood Savage is considered one of Awakened Drakania's least effective skills due to its low damage, lack of protection, and a float effect that only applies on the first hit.

Implications: Its underutilization limits Drakania's options in both PvE and PvP.

Solution: Rework the skill to include a self-buff for Crit Rate or Crit Damage (e.g., +24% Crit Rate for 10 seconds or +5-10% Crit Damage). This would align Drakania with classes like Guardian and Sage, enhancing her performance without overly increasing her PvP damage.

  1. Topic: Hexeblood Storm Maul

Concern: Storm Maul lacks smooth linking between pre-awakening and awakening stances, and its initial protection was removed, reducing its safety in PvP.

Implication: These adjustments improve Storm Maul's fluidity and protection, allowing for smoother stance transitions and safer movement in PvP.

Solution: Enable Storm Maul from W+RMB in mainhand when Absolute Brimbolt Raze is locked. Add Super Armor after the float if fully channelled or extend the iframe to cover the skill’s startup.

  1. Topic: Hexeblood Tectonic Slam

Concern: Awakened Drakania's movement options in PvP are unprotected, leaving her vulnerable. The core skill, while underused, provides valuable protection that enhances gameplay.

Implications: Without protective movement skills, Awakened Drakania will struggle in PvP, making her less competitive compared to classes with better defensive mobility.

Solution: Change the core skill to provide Super Armor by default and apply crowd control in PvE. This would give Drakania a protected movement option, offering longer-range mobility and making it more practical than Dragon Flight in PvP.

  1. Topic: Dragonblood: Cloud Strife

Concern: The addition of Super Armor has increased the skill's importance in PvE and PvP, but its long cooldown disrupts combo flow.

Implications: The extended cooldown limits her responsiveness in combat, reducing competitiveness and potentially impacting player satisfaction in critical scenarios.

Solution: Reduce the cooldown to 6-7 seconds to align with Dragonblood: Spiteful Soul and/or Dragonblood: Tip of the Scale, enhancing usability and combo integration for smoother gameplay.

  1. Topic: Dragonblood: Aerial Burst  & Hexeblood: Flow:Obliterate

Concern: Aerial Burst and Flow: Obliterate previously served as Awakened Drakania’s "Mob Taunt" and "Mob Pull," but the absence of effective long-range taunt or pull mechanics now weakens her PvE performance, especially against dispersed mobs.

Implications: The lack of these mechanics hampers her efficiency in PvE, leading to player frustration and reducing the class's overall viability.

Solution: Introduce a "Taunts Distant Mobs" effect to Aerial Burst and restore the "Pulls in Mobs" effect to Flow: Obliterate.

  1. Topic: Dragonwalk

Concern: Awakened Drakania struggles to smoothly transition between Awakened and pre-Awakened stances, especially when returning to Awakened. This detracts from gameplay compared to other classes with better movement skills. Additionally, the inability to use Dragonwalk forward highlights the need for stance swapping through this skill to improve combat fluidity.

Implications: The difficulty in stance transitions reduces combat fluidity, leading to player frustration, decreased class viability, perceived gameplay imbalance, and a clear need for mechanical improvements.

Solution: Enable forward movement of Dragonwalk in pre-Awakened stance to facilitate a transition into Awakened stance.

  1. Topic: Burning Resolve

Concern: Classes like Sage and Guardian benefit from additional effects in their buffs, such as 20% critical damage and 10 seconds of super armour. Awakened Drakania’s buffs are primarily damage and accuracy focused, lacking similar enhancements to support survivability, which were initially part of her conceptual design.

Implications: Without comparable buffs, Awakened Drakania may struggle with survivability and effectiveness in PvE and PvP, potentially leading to player dissatisfaction and reduced competitiveness.

Solution: Introduce 15 to 30 seconds of super armour during certain skills, as Guardian has, to improve Awakened Drakania’s protection without major kit changes—addressing her survivability, particularly in light of planned frontal guard nerfs.

  1. Topic: Dragonblood: Cloud Strife , Spiteful Soul  & Storm Piercer

Concern: Increased use and meta changes have highlighted Dragonblood skills' slow activation, causing delayed damage that feels clunky in both PvE and PvP, where "on-demand iframes" make her damage easier to evade.

Implications: The slow activation reduces Awakened Drakania's effectiveness and enjoyment in PvE and PvP, making her predictable and easier to counter, which may lead to player frustration.

Solution: Increase the activation speed of the mentioned Dragonblood skills to enhance their responsiveness, similar to the animation speed adjustments made to Dragonblood: Tip of the Scale.

  1. Topic: Dragonblood: Spiteful Soul , Tectonic Slam , Savage Decree  & Doombringer

Concern: The recent damage reduction for these skills highlights the lack of a Down Attack modifier (except for Doombringer), making the need for increased damage outside back attack mechanics more critical following Drakania's changes. Previously, these skills had higher damage to offset this absence.

Implications: The combined effect of reduced damage and the lack of a Down Attack modifier significantly limits Awakened Drakania's overall damage output and combat effectiveness.

Solution: Revert the damage nerfs to all Dragonblood skills, restore Super Armor protection for Tectonic Slam and Savage Decree, and add a Down Attack modifier for Spiteful Soul, Tectonic Slam, and Savage Decree.

  1. Topic: Dragon’s Advance

Concern: Diversifying pre-awaken movement options for Awakening Drakania.

Solution: A highly upvoted suggestion within the Drakania community Discord proposed enabling the ability to hold W+F during Dragon’s Advance to continuously loop the movement until inputs are released or stamina is depleted, with Super Armor inactive during cooldown. This adjustment would provide both Succession and Awakened Drakania with an extended form of pre-Awakened movement.

  1. Topic: BSR: Markthanan’s Flourish

Concern: The nerfs to BSR damage and the split damage reductions to Drakania's pre-Awakened and Succession 100% skills have resulted in significantly diminished damage output when hitting multiple targets. Given the skills' lengthy wind-up periods, this adjustment negatively impacts gameplay fluidity and limits the realistic usability of these skills in PvP scenarios.

Implications: Drakania’s pre-Awakened BSR skills, with reduced damage output and long wind-up times, are now less effective and practical in PvP, especially against multiple opponents.

Solution: Increase the casting speed of the 100% BSR skill by 40% to improve its usability and effectiveness, enabling faster deployment in combat scenarios.

  1. Topic: Absolute: Markthanans Breath

Concern: This skill is among the most underutilised in Drakania’s pre-Awakened kit, originally converted into a Magnus skill. While it has uses for fast cancels and is the only ranged attack, converting it into a "Mob Taunt" could enhance PvE performance, particularly in Succession, with potential benefits in Awakened play.

Implications: Transforming this skill into a "Mob Taunt" would improve Drakania's PvE utility and help her manage aggro more effectively, addressing her overall viability and enhancing gameplay satisfaction.

Solution: Change Absolute:Markthanans Breath to a summon that creates a large area of draconic fire after a 3-second deployment. Add a taunting effect to pull distant monsters when using the skill, ensuring they are drawn closer rather than aggroing the summon. Increase PvE damage to 2060% x 1, max 10 hits.

  1. Topic: Legacy

Concern: Current stance fluidity for Drakania is limited. Allowing the use of Legacy after any skill in pre-awakening (excluding Dragonwalk and Refraction as in awakening) would enhance stance flexibility.

Implication: Greater stance fluidity would improve tactical adaptability, encouraging more skill expression and versatility in both PvE and PvP scenarios.

Solution: Enable the use of Legacy from mainhand after any skill. Using Legacy in mainhand would maintain the current form instead of switching stances.

  1. Topic: Doombringer

Concern: Requiring Doombringer on the hot bar for stance swapping (outside of C-Swap) is impractical and slows its cast speed, diminishing the impact of "improved skill linking." Additionally, Dragon Flight lacks the thematic effect promised, merely flying forward without the "rain down destruction" fantasy central to Drakania’s identity.

Implication: These changes streamline skill flow and stance transitions while enhancing Dragon Flight to align with Drakania’s dragon heritage, reinforcing her class identity in an open-world setting.

Solution: Allow Doombringer to be used from Shift+Q in mainhand when Markthanan’s Scale is locked. Enable Flow: Markthanan's Wings to link into Dragon Flight after Doombringer and allow Doombringer mid-flight to gain altitude.

  1. Topic: Absolute: Markthanan’s Flourish

Concern: Awakening Drakania has only one ineffective absolute CC, Absolute Azure Onslaught, following a nerf, while other classes have multiple options. She needs a viable CC for PvP, and adding Float to Absolute Markthanan’s Flourish would be a practical solution.

Implication: This change would enhance Drakania’s CC capabilities, making her PvP kit more competitive.

Solution: Add Floating to Absolute Markthanan’s Flourish in PvP.

  1. Topic: BSR: Dragonblood: Tip of the Scale

Concern: Dragonblood:Tip of the Scale has an ineffective 25% BSR effect that is rarely utilised. Since she relies more on her 10/25/50% BSRs, enhancing this skill's usability is essential.

Implication: This change would improve the skill’s combat viability, providing a balanced, resource-based engage option for Drakania.

Solution: Change the 25% BSR effect of Dragonblood:Tip of the Scale to grant Super Armor during the skill while retaining its knockdown effect.

  1. Topic: Absolute: Azure Onslaught

Concern: After the Global Labs nerf, Absolute Azure Onslaught lost its Super Armor knockdown and gained stiffness, making it difficult to combo out of, especially for awakening Drakania. As her only absolute CC, this limits the utility of her pre-awakening skills.

Implication: This adjustment would restore Drakania’s engagement potential, enhancing her utility in both awakening and pre-awakening forms.

Solution: Revert Absolute Azure Onslaught's stiffness back to a knockdown in PvP.

  1. Topic: Markthanan’s Heart

Concern: The recent healing percentage changes resulted in a 50% nerf to awakening Drakania’s passive healing, reducing it from 400 HP per tick to 200 HP. This makes her healing feel ineffective and limits her trading potential, especially with the increased max HP for all classes.

Implication: This change would enhance Drakania's healing effectiveness, improving her trading capabilities and relevance in combat.

Solution: Restore awakening’s Markthanan's Heart passive to 400 HP per tick while keeping the total ticks lower than in succession.

  1. Topic: Dragon Flight

Concern: With Lahn and awakening Dosa able to fly, it’s time to restore Drakania's Dragon Flight ability to its former glory as seen during Global Labs. The introduction of the free T9 Pegasi allows other classes to fly, making Drakania's limited flight feel inadequate.

Implication: This change would enhance Drakania's mobility and uniqueness as a dragon class, aligning her capabilities with other classes that have similar flight mechanics.

Solution: Revert the height and in-air movement nerfs to Dragon Flight, restoring it to the mechanics demonstrated during her Global Labs testing.

  1. Topic: Markthanan’s Wings Key Input Conflict

Concern: The space keybind for Flow: Markthanan's Wings during Refraction or Dragonwalk conflicts with Legacy, leading to unintentional skill activation and limiting movement options.

Implication: This change would prevent accidental usage, giving Drakania greater flexibility to engage enemies and switch forms effectively.

Solution: Change the keybind for Flow: Markthanan's Wings to Shift+Space during these skills.

Agree 100%

Would be nice if they made these changes. It'd make her smoother to play. Her skills can be a bit clunky and at times bugged. Switching stances and from Main to Awakened is also very slow. Needs to be more fluid. They also need to reinforce her Draconic heritage. It's sad when other classes can fly better than a dragon...They also made her look and feel too...human. She remindes me of a Nord Dragonknight in ESO (or even the Dragonborn from Skyrim), a tall human that can use dragon-like powers and abilities but at the end of the day they're still human...

I really hate how Flow; Dragon Flight & Markthanan's Wings is basically a sprint. She just glides (if you can even really call it that) on the ground. Really wish you could also use it as a means for travel (probably unrealistic, I know) maybe outside of combat only. She wouldn't be able to initiate combat either as to not make it broken. It just seems odd that a dragon would ride a horse...Hell I wouldn't even care if her flight (travel) was slower than that of a T6, I'd still use it for lore purposes. Come on PA! Give Drakania back her wings!

I've enjoyed playing Awakening Drakania for quite some time in the past, but since the "recent" DR changes, the servers have become even more unreliable, making it nearly impossible to play her without getting CC'ed almost instantly. Adding more protected CCs to other classes and not nerfing grabs didn't help.

I frequently get CC'ed in my 0.2sec openings between skills or during CC attempts, even though I cancel her abilities as quickly as possible, and my grab only works about 40% of the time, even when it clearly lands (in AoS with full ignore res!).

Only way you can play here right now is if you have a godlike ping. If you don't (like me), you experience a hell of desync making her almost unplayable.

I'd like to see some QoL for her Pre-Awakening stance, more ways and smoother stance swapping to Awakening, and alot of adjustments to her skills making her kit feel more fluid and less susceptible to desync.

I appreciate a lot of your points, but please remove all the unreasonable crap in there. Frankly, a few of these suggestions would make her completely broken as she was before.

Dmg is complete fine in pvp, dogshit in pve, just give awa core SA back or some other relevant CC and we are good again. Tecto FG is fine, its just a matter of positioning but the CC potential is just horrible, u basically have grab or u pray and go for an unprotected CC like Extinction or swap and try FG Sundering Roar but it ends most of the time into getting CC'd you cant follow up an iframe or go into Obliterate fast enough.

Core Sundering SA > Tecto in Dragonblood SA!!!!

Simple solution would be give Core SA Sundering Roar back and increase pve damage and the class would be ok'ish again and fun for way more players.

Its actually not that much and i mean if PA would communicate atleast a bit with us would already help but yeh.
