Hi everyone,
Given the recent developer livestreams and their word on listening to PVP feedback, I come in the hope of addressing a long lived bug with the Node War System.
As you may already know, completing a node war grants a participation buff - 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 ap, loot drop rate, combat/life xp and more - based on the tier of the war and winning or losing. The Account wide buff lasts for over 2 days of real world time.
Unfortunately, participating into a lower tier node war the next day can overwrite the previous, higher tier buff.
Example:
Player A and B participate and win an uncapped node war (+ 25 ap for 48 hours) .
The next day, Player A attends a T1 node war and loses. He now has +5 ap for 48 hours instead of 25, even though the previous buff (+25 ap) was still up for another 24 hours.
Player B, instead, decides to skip the node war. He retains the +25 ap for another 24 hours.
While +25 ap may not seem much on paper, it actually is the difference between a player with 322 ap and one with 338 ap (over 15 gearscore). This amount of AP makes significant difference in some end game spots and thus is the reason for why many players will skip lower Tier Node Wars, further reducing the already tanking PVP attendance.
The current system (edit: intended) ends up punishing players that seek to attend every node war (effectively making them lose silver x hour), while rewards occasional PVE players who only sign up for the buff. Furthermore, given that many buffs already work in the opposite way (warning you that you have more "powerful" buffs active, not overriding its better counterpart), the current way is also confusing and counter intuitive.
Ultimately, this change impacts every kind of pvp enthusiast. Reworking would increase attendance of T1 and T2s.
Thank you for reading <3
Seems like a no-brainer.
