I understand that nobody but PA can answer this, but maybe someone has an idea for what might have been the reason? I don't think it was a particularly strong or weak skill, so I'm just kind of surprised it got removed. I do appreciate the new skill and changes though.

It was a weak skill, everyone had it block. Is a skill that wouldn't pass any quality control in a newer class. Why remove it if is useless? Maybe there is a cap on the number of "prime" skills a character can have. We don't know, only PA can answer.
