Details: There have been times where I have been the dedicated invite person to get War Heroes / Mercs into my guild for guild bosses like Khan. Or friends that message me and I'm AFK fishing and they may think I'm ignoring them, lol! I have played some MMOs that have AFK auto replies in the game so that when they send you a direct private message, it auto replies to them you're AFK and a message you typed when you'll be back, or what you may be doing.
I like this afk idea. Also, related
For hiring war heroes, do we really _really_ need a popup box that interrupts everything (chats, horse training, combat, hiring another war hero, everything) that requires us to click 'OK' before continuing anything else?

Oh you're talking about why does it say "A war hero has joined" after you invite one in and you have to hit OK or it won't go away? I agree, I don't think we need that at all. It does interupt gameplay while grinding, life skilling, ect.
Maybe it's a neat idea, but it's a waste of developer resources, and wouldn't get used nearly as much as you think it would. It'd be a coding nightmare to implement.
Just respond to messages when you can. People understand that when they don't get an immediate response, it's probably because you're preoccupied.
Oh I understand the development part. I've just seen it in other games and it was such a nice feature to have in them. If they can, great! If not, we move on just like the other 1000 things that would be nice to have that are not here lol :)

in my opinion QOL is always worth the dev time upvoted.
I know PVP in the games kinda meh spot atm but PVE is improving I mean thier real quick reveal for the new stuff looks awesome. Im hoping thats our tower mode they hinted at a bit ago.
now if they could just give better cosmetic chase rewards for the group PVE content. just silver doesnt cut it its why no ones queueing up.

Yep, I agree! I appreciate all the QOL things they have done thus far. I'm glad to see a 10+ year old game is still getting a lot of attention by devs and continues to improve. I've been very happy with the game in general, so I've been around for a while with no plans of leaving BDO.

Don't say this. Never say this. It's not up for you to decide. Let the devs decide if its worth the time to add. Only say if you like the idea or not unless its like obvious stupid massive content scope like someone asking for a 300 hour fully voiced and face rigged story campaign centered around milking cows and takes place entirely within the barns across the continent with realisticly jiggleboned udders.
Also this would be easy as pie to add to the game.
I'm still kind of new so I could be wrong, but wouldn't logging in with privacy mode on be efficent for the hiring war heros, etc issue? It's a bit impractical when you're just stepping away to make food so I agree an afk message or status would be much nicer for those instances but in the mean time would that help? That's what I've been doing for my guild when I'm moving over to afk horse training/fishing/etc. I log out and then just log back in with privacy mode enabled so that I don't show as online to my guild members so that its easier for them to tell when I'm actually online and present or just letting my game run while I'm at work/sleeping/doing chores.
I honestly think a status would be easier to implement than an auto-reply message, although both would be nice. Just have little icons or colored dots next to people's names in your guild/friend list like they have in FF14 or Discord and just tie it to the afk camera idle timer. Green for online, yellow or red for idle, you could even set up a generic afk message that the game would know to send by default if your game was in idle camera mode. The inactivity countdown is obviously already there, if the auto afk reply message is out of the question, it shouldn't be incredibly difficult to give it a small visual aid at the least.

Think of it this way. Lets say you were trying to merc (WH) into someone's guild for bosses or whatever, and you messaged them and just got a "player is offline" message, with no explaination of when they are coming back or just ignored for like 10 mins wondering if they even saw your message if they were online. But instead, you could have seen an AFK reply from them that said "AFK I'll be back at 7:35PM after dinner." What makes you feel better? Knowing when you can ask again, or trying to ask over and over again wondering when they'll be back online just hoping for the best?
