I am making this post as a desperate plea to Pearl Abyss. Most of the Awakening Ranger changes on Global Lab (Mar. 21, 2025) are TERRIBLE and completely gut the class or misunderstand what the class is about. Ranger is already in a very bad state, and these changes do not bode well at all.
1. Inherent DR debuffs unified to -30 (Will of the Wind, Nature's tremble, Rushing Wind).
1a. Loss of -Ranged DR debuff on Wailing Wind.
Ranger already struggles with damage ever since the big DP rework some time ago. Changing the DR debuff to -30 and putting on more accessible skills than Nature's Tremble is a step forward, but removing the -Ranged DR on Wailing Wind is taking 2 steps back. Ranger already lost its identity as a DP/eva shredder class. Even if Nature's Tremble was seldom used to debuff DR due to it being more suited as a finisher skill, removing the option to stack up to -40 effective DR is a net loss, especially as a 1v1 oriented class where you can switch up your combo depending on how tanky your opponent is.
Keep the -Ranged DR on Wailing Wind. Ranger is a combo based class that seldom trades damage with standing targets. This class revolves around stacking many debuffs during combos. Even when stacking -40 effective DR currently, the damage is not enough. Allow us to stack -30 DR with -20 ranged DR.
2. Breezy Blade LMB flow out of most awakening skills
Most rangers currently hotbar Breezy Blade, and a lot of us even lock the skill due to its conflicting input. Making Breezy Blade activate with LMB after all these skills is a BIG mistake. Ranger is one of the most sensitive classes in the game to how you input skills. For instance, if you are trying to use a skill that activates with 3 buttons, the order and timing of those individual keypresses is literally the difference between you living or dying, because any permutation of inputs activates a different skill. If Breezy Blade activates out of even more skills, it will be a nightmare to manage. This change does not make ranger "easier" to play as stated by the devs in their note. In fact it achieves the opposite. If this change goes live, even more rangers will be locking Breezy Blade from now on.
2a. Breezy Blade iframe and stamina lock
Rangers are NOT asking for more iframes. Ever since ranger's stamina was gutted some time ago, it has been in an asthmatic state already. On live server we only have "2.0" super armor skills that regen stamina. The primary one being Breezy Blade. The other ones are Wind Explosion shot (a whopping 20s CD), and Waltz of Wind (which is not only extremely short, but also requires the core) - I count these as "0.5" each because they are not consistent sources of stamina in the big picture. By removing Breezy Blade, ranger effectively has no stamina sources. Once again, we do not want the iframe on Breezy Blade. We would rather keep our one skill that regens stamina and leave it as a super armor. The distance increase is much needed, but we are not willing to sacrifice the stamina for ANYTHING.
3. Camera Turns
Please do not remove the camera turns. This is never a good idea on any class and makes combat feel clunky rather than responsive. BDO's combat is good because of its responsiveness.
4. Rushing Wind flows
Please do not remove the flows of Rushing Wind. Ranger is already a very predictable class. Restricting Rushing Wind to only flow out of Breezy Blade makes ranger far too predictable. Furthermore, it restricts movement and combos. Rushing Wind was an extremely important freestyle combo tool that could dish out a lot of damage at once following skills like Wind Blade or Guardian Wind, which would also minimize the gap in protections. Restricting the flows of Rushing Wind will basically gut the ranger class.
5. RMB input on Flow: Disillusion
Once again - ranger is a class that is especially sensitive to inputs/misinputs. Having RMB as the input makes it extremely easy to misinput and use a forward guard skill when you do not intend to. You could hold it too long, you could be trying to use Wind Step and accidentally input RMB before S in the S+RMB, etc. Please keep the LMB input (and also get rid of the new Breezy Blade input as stated in #2).
6. No mana restoration on Regeneration
Ranger is a very mana starved class. It may not be noticeable with an infinite mana potion, but with the introduction of game modes like Hardcore Server, where there are no mana pots, running out of mana in an extended fight is a very common issue for awakening ranger. There is no reason to remove the mana restoration on Regeneration. In fact if anything, we should have more ways to recover mana.

Personally, I do not enjoy the trend of classes being "dumbed down" (just look at warrior for example). Each new class becomes easier and easier to play, to the point where we have very new players to pvp achieving extremely high ranks in AoS on classes like gunner, even hitting top 10 overall. This is not healthy for the game. Most rangers are playing ranger because they enjoy the free flowing nature of it, and the complexity of it. Not only do these changes make it harder to play and worse to play, but it completely guts what the class is about. Even veteran rangers mess up their inputs all the time, and constantly run out of stamina - let alone new players.
Awakening ranger's current problems are largely centered around a lack of stamina/mobility, and its inherent lack of either AP or DP (depending on your gear choices) that cannot keep up with the current meta state of the game. Unless addressing those specific issues, it is better not to touch awakening ranger.
i support this feedback, but dont get false hopes. they dont listen, they dont understand this class.
i was hoping they dont touch this class with their rotten fingers, but here we are.

SCRAP THE AWAKENING RANGER CHANGES
Anything with camera lock is a terrible change, unsure why they keep doing this what is like the whole point of camera locking abilities?
I'm not even a ranger main but these class changes lately are so out of touch. The ONLY thing ranger needed a nerf on was giving her grab an actual fail animation. The rest of this doesn't make any sense. PA needs to hire REAL players that actually log into the game to help. Like they can't just randomly send stuff anymore, the game WILL suffer. Also the breezy blade change is REALLY bad.
I'm also posting on any class that gets camera lock changes because it just ruins the flow of the game completely. Just add a keybind to be able to lock camera manually? it makes no sense to force it on players. It makes many skills almost detrimental to use. STOP trying to dumb the game down and stop trying to balance around your new DOA mode you ported from mobile. No one asked for it. We wanted to fix the modes we have in the game already. But again you jump the gun and for some reason are changing core class mechanics to salvage your narrative for this new mode.
Ranger is dead. Wahoo!
