Awakening Maehwa Has not received Meaningful pvp buff in 3 years, and the changes she did get (accuracy changes), were eventually removed as the Development team sought to remove High accuracy as a combat advantage.
They also removed the CC from Dragon Bite and put it on the first hit of “Ice fang”, then moved the damaging hit from Ice fang and added it to “Tip of The Iceberg”. This not only gave her massive damage application issues, but it was done without considering that Awakening Maehwa has a significantly shorter backward chase in the awakening stance compared to Pre-awakening. Which was often used to set up catches with Dragon bite due to it having No collision. Ice fang, because of this reason cannot be used in the same manner as Dragon bite and has no real place in our kit as it is just inferior to our other cc options. In regards to our Damage application. Tacking the last hit of “Ice Fang” to the end of “Tip of the Iceberg” ensured that the extension would almost never be used unless fighting a singular target who is already on the ground, as the Nearly 3 second long Forward guard string is extremely easy to get behind for the Majority of Classes.
Awakening Maehwa used to rely on High accuracy and Slows to contribute to fights, yet both of those options have been removed from her kit with nothing to replace them with.
- She indirectly suffered due to the damage reduction changes, as being a class that heavily relies on Forward guard, she has very limited super armors. So her overall uptime on her 15% Super armor DR is lower than most classes.
- Her raw damage output was never actually high, she just had excess accuracy to deal with evasion targets. So her damage is severely lacking against anyone with a modicum of damage reduction, while no longer having the advantage against evasion targets
- She depended on slows to keep targets from easily punishing her myriad of Forward Guards, The development team saw it fit to remove them from her. yet again they gave her nothing in return.
These changes result in a class that excels at nothing in PvP and is essentially always at a disadvantage. This has literally been then play-style of the class, the vast majority of engagements you get in as Awakening Maehwa are disadvantaged. She can be aggressed very easily as she lacks quick protected damaging skills and defensive options (invincibility frames, super armors) to deal with pressure. She is forced to succumb to the pace and pressure of whatever class she is fighting while having little to no options to change the tide of the fight. This results in an extremely defensive play-style that is disjointed from how the skills in her kit, which promote aggression, function.
The Changes I suggest will give her faster protected damaging Skills as well as more defensive options to better deal with pressure.
- Revert the Changes made to Ice Fang, Dragon bite and Tip of the Iceberg.
- Make Sleet Steps an I-frame with a 3 second cooldown.
- Make Moonrise a Super armor and change the Core Skill effect to add a CC
- Make Petal Swirl a Super Armor, and reduce the coolddown to 5 seconds
- Change Backward Chase in awakening to match the distance it has in pre-awakening
I believe, with these changes, Awakening Maehwa will have the ability to fight against other classes without it always being an uphill battle. even if this isnt the direction The developers want to go. Please give use something positive. Our Class has suffered enough over the years.
