Abandoned boats should be free-to-sink. They're becoming a nuissance, on every server. If nobody is mounted on the boat's steering wheel, it should be free to sink and not cost any naval fame. There's boats all over the place on my server with nobody fishing on them...
we have a lot around a island that they are all fishing from shore and no one on the ship and in the way of bartering but we both know they will never do it
Um - no one on board, maybe. There's reasons to be off the wheel. There's also reasons to be away from the boat. Buut... incentive to move when doing those things... hmm. Sure, why not.
Edit: Oh, here's a "why not": when the off-the-wheel activity requires the boat to be in a specifc location, such as for fishing from the boat. Also a handful of quests.
Edit 2: Then there's the need to do things on islands without wharfs. Hunting, Protty, Sycraia, just plain exploration. And there's some diving quests scattered around. Vell could be a mess.

Lots of people will set up their boat and fisher alt, then arch map to turn in the their fish, so the boat is just sitting there while they're selling fish. Others just set up boats to get in the way. There's no real way for BDO to know the difference. They could simply remove collision on all boats.

Except there is. We all know BDO tracks time and the game inconsistently stows AFK boats near a dock/wharf manager. The map has a 30 minute timer to be able to map back, correct? This is why my original proposition was to give unmanned (defined as no player on board) boats a 30 minute timer before they become 'free-to-sink.' I'd be completely for removing collision near a bartering NPC, too.

Maybe they don't have an arch map, and simply map, then swim back/dine back. Maybe something comes up and they don't make it back in 30 minutes. The AFK near a wharf only happens with non-"big" ships as well. Simplest solution is removing collision between boats everywhere, not just near a bartering NPC. They already have the code in safe areas, it's the easiest solution to just make it everywhere. When was the last time you thought "Man, I'm sure glad we have boat collusion in this game." ...
Just have a "damage over time" effect placed on all unmanned boats, that way the owner of the boat has no one to blame but themselves for it being sunk.
