Wizard Changes WHY?

I've been around since Beta. I'm usually positive...but these wizard changes might just be the boot I needed to play something else. Why did this even happen? Class defining abilities are gone for what reason? The new class FEELS LIKE COMPLETE CRAP to play in awakening now. Seriously, so freaking mad with these changes!!
